  • There are 4 basic things to understand about nerve injury and regeneration. The types and classifications of the nerve injury, the process of degeneration that occurs - distally and proximally, the process of regeneration that occurs and finally, the factors that play a role in controlling this process of regeneration. This video discusses these points in an easy way!

    Thank you Dr.. very useful information. I have a question. If there is an ulnar nerve neuropathy at the elbow. When to expect better symptoms after operation

    • @GKHandSurgery
      @GKHandSurgery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on the cause of the neuropathy. Is it an infective pathology or trauma?

      @@GKHandSurgery MRI. Shows compression of ulnar nerve at the cupital tunnel. My hand getting weak in grip and I lost one muscle.

    If the CMAPs are absent after two months of injury is it indicates to complete injury and surgery is needed? or what?
    Also is this classification done by EMG/ NCS or what?

    Can we fully recover from winged scapula? And how long it take?

    Post nerve repair, what investigations help us that nerve is regenerating

    • @GKHandSurgery
      @GKHandSurgery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Apart from a good clinical examination, EMG will help.

    Sir could not understand why wave comes in proximal stimulation of axonotemesis and in distal stimulation of neuronotemesis in first 24 hrs?

    Ulnar nerve repair end to end cooaptation with fibrin glue at wrist pls explain prognosis

    • @GKHandSurgery
      @GKHandSurgery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Prognosis is same as for nerve epineural suturing. The debridement of cut nerve end edges, alignment of fascicles and handling of nerve are important factors.

    I operated on 20/2/23 for ulnar nerve repair, at distal forearm, now tinels sign positive at proximal part of hypothenar, iam experiencing pinning, electrical stimulation at palm left side, what it indicates sir

    • @GKHandSurgery
      @GKHandSurgery  ปีที่แล้ว

      We shall have to wait to see whether it is really the ulnar nerve growing. It may be too early to expect this quick 'recovery'.

  • @jagdishbiradar5403
    @jagdishbiradar5403 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Two months over my ulnar nerve surgery done, it was just proximal to wrist joint sir
    One month before tinels sign present at proximal to hypothenar side now tinels sign present just proximal to distal palmer crease, my palm slight depressed at center, hypothener muscles increased in size as before surgery pls comment sir

      The movements have to be assessed clinically and the tone of the muscles palpated also. Your surgeon will definitely be able to guide you better. But in my experience, recovery of the muscles would not occur in two months.
