Wow...after watching this and reading the comments, I don't think I could take a chance on this car. There's nothing worse than having to take a car back to the dealer for issues and hoping they'll take care of you. It can be an especially big problem if you are modding it. I want to like these cars, but I really feel like Nissan/Infiniti quality is really dropping these days. Overall I must say I'm very happy with my Charger Scat Pack...no issues at 36k miles. I can't add power easily like with these turbo cars, but it's pretty quick stock and it never gives me any trouble. Gotta like that.
SO BASICALLY. Don't be lazy af. check yo fluids REGULARLY. at gas station check. at home check. check coolant, oil, brake fluid all that. Be as preventative as possible some problems are inevitable, but you can delay them.
At around 34000 miles my 2017 q50 had a misfire under warranty they had to fix it at no charge but I had just done an oil change about 600 miles prior and always pump premium fuel it just happens overall love this car and I'm looking to get an older gtr and I don't plan to trade in the q50
My 2018 Q60 threw a check engine light at 2700 miles back in June. Evap system fault, apparently a hose underneath the car came undone. Infiniti reconnected it under warranty and its been fine since.
Have this check Engine from 10 000Km and 11 000Km for my 2017 Red Sport Q50. They changed the Evap Valve and the Gas cap. I Hope a never seen it again :P P0448
2019 Q50 RS 400 stock! I feel a horrible turbo lag at times. When i gun it around 45mph+. I have 11k miles on the car. Plus im not sure if im used to acceleration or what but cars started feel a but slower!
2016 RS Here. AWD system failure. Car dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Pulled over. Still drivable. Infiniti dealer said wheel speed sensor. Also said so many failures that Infiniti was not prepared, back ordered part. Not sure if that’s the kind of issue you’re looking for.
Had some serious heat soak issues this past summer on my 18 Q60 RS400. No, I don't think the solution to the problem is to install bigger heat exchangers on a car worth 70k. for that kind of money this should not be an issue.
Any Q50 3.0t here with over 100k+ miles that never had an issue? Looking to purchase one but no experience with Infiniti/Nissan. I come from Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura world (200k+ miles no issues, besides regular wear).
I just had to replace a shredded serpentine belt at 54,000 miles on my 2018 Q50 3.0t. A friend of mine did some research and sent me the service bulletin you mentioned. The service introduction date was November 2017…. I’m wondering if the early model 2018s may still have the same misaligned AC compressor.
It looks like my water pump is not sealed right and is leaking but not dramatically. Not overheating either . Taking it to dealership Wednesday. 16 q50 3.0t

@@deonrobinson644 I am currently getting a new engine. the dealer has no idea where the coolant is going. They think its a porous block so they did an oil analysis and it came back saying there is coolant mixing with oil

My 2018 Q50 Red Sport needed its engine replaced after the oil ran super low. Only 68XX miles and it started to knock. Upon examination my dealer found shrapnels of metal in the oil pan. They replaced it under warranty and so far, I’ve had absolutely no issue. I’ve been on this new engine for about 1500 miles now and it’s running fine, obviously don’t wanna push it too much yet but it’s doing good. Now I know that I’m not alone though 😂😂😂
I would change your oil & filter soon. I changed out the oil & filter on my '17 Q60S initially @ 1k miles, and every 4-5k miles since. Now @ 19k miles, my engine uses no oil between change intervals, and I am modded.
Aero Man I appreciate the advice man, I actually just got a new intake and exhaust, been checking my oil twice a week and haven’t had any issue since. Looking to make this car faster so hopefully this routine will save me and the engine from any future issues
@@ili.qfiddy The VR30DDTT engine has alot of potential. Last fall, my Q60 Red Sport put down 437 WHP & 502 WTQ on a DynoJet AWD dyno w/93 octane. One more note on oil changes, I take a sample of oil at every oil change and send it to Blackstone Labs for analysis. For $28, I can track how much metal is in the oil, and just as important, how much fuel is in the oil. With Direct Injection, fuel dilution is a concern, and can reduce viscosity over time. I found I shouldn't go over 5k miles between changes, as the fuel dilution reduced my 5W30 to a 5W20 in one sample. YMMV... I'll also be running a Catch Can soon... Mishimoto has released a nice setup for the VR30DDTT for $200 (pre-order). It will be available in March 2019.

First off when a engine is breaking in they tend to use oil and for the injector issue that happens to all cars that have an injectors so it's not an issue parts fail
Have a friend who’s a Master Tech for Toyota for over 20 years and he says their shop is ALWAYS full of Supra’s. Said it’s a total piece of garbage and he’s pretty sure Toyota regrets ever getting involved with BMW on it.
2019 Luxe 38k without any issues. JB4 installed the past 5k. The only issue was the stock run flats that popped at less than 5k. Frequent oil changes about every 5-6k.
I was at 88k and my engine blew a day after a oil change. I really think it's the dealers negligence but they are claiming a piston blew. They are trying to charge me over 4 grand for a replacement engine. I'm really disappointed with Infiniti over this issue.
@@KingDavidPraiseYHWH so what was the reason? i usually do my oil changes at 3k, It may be overkill but mine is heavily modified and I drive hard on it majority of the time because it’s so much fun.
I am thinking of buying this exact car...it has a paint defect on the drivers door but low mileage. Great price...but worry about getting it repainted and it does match the rest of the car or getting one from the yard.
Oil issue is real. I have knocking issues after an oil change and this car does something unexpectedly with oil. I now need a new engine with a car having plenty of oil, but metal shavings in my oil pan...do NOT buy this car. I change my oil on schedule and have do it for years. I put 6 qts in and had 4.2 when the knocking occurred. I now need a new engine.
Just had my injectors go out 2016 Q50 RS and had them replaced at the dealership, I also had my fuel rail replaced.... Too all my VR30 people save up your pennies... they hit me for $4000!!!
Coolant issues - If you have magic missing coolant - Have them pull the oil pan and plugs. You have a leak and will need a new engine and turbos. Going through this right now. Value of the engine and turbos cost more than the value of the vehicle. This is a worst case type of scenario. 2017 Red Sport Coupe

I just picked up a 2017 Q50 premium, non red sport. 100% stock with 31,000 mi. When I get on it I have a cool sounding whistle coming from the engine. I assume that whistle is the turbos. It's not anything crazy loud but you can hear it when you get on it. Is that an issue or 100% normal sound?
I have this concern on my 2018 q50 where it occasionally Blows out white smoke from the exhaust more than it would normally on idle while parked. It smokes a little then a lot come out for a couple minutes then goes back to normal. Any suggestions on what the issue might be/ a fix?
It could be your charge pipe, that happened to me and he replaced that I got one from ebay for $100 for the passenger side bc my smoke came from only the passenger tail pipe .

Hey man. I'm interested in the Q50 RS400. Should I get the 2016/2017 or 2018+ model year? I heard that they upgraded the turbo on the 2018+, is that true? Please advise.
Old post but others may be interested to know, in 2018+ models Infinity improved the seals on the turbos. It is still vitally important to keep tabs on the motor oil as it is used to lubricate and cool the turbos as well. The idea of going 10K miles on an oil change on a turbo car is insane to me.
I have a 2016 AWD Q50 3.0t Premium and shredded the drive belt at 40k and am currently having overheating issues at 57k miles. Factory warranty ends at 60k but extended warranty ends at 97k miles. Phew.
2016 Q50 Red Sport with a Stage 1 tune @ 45k. I randomly have issues where it seems my turbos cut out. Usually powering my car down for 1 minute and turning it back on usually fixes the issue. I’ve had the turbos checked for any boost leaks at RT Tuning in PA, and they weren’t able to find anything. Any idea why my turbos would randomly not kick in within the first minute of driving?
Wastegate issue possibly? I know the turbo bmw’s have a wastegate issue where it causes the turbos to not work and shutting it off and turning it on helps it for some time

@@Skyler1100 Yeah, at the time of purchase, I still had warranty up to 60k
Just bought a 2016 Q50ss with 300 miles on it. I put 800 miles on it driving home no issues.
Damn I just got a 2020 q50 ): fingers crossed nothing happens I’ll be taking more notes Thankyou for everything!
Same I’m having problems over heating
Wow...after watching this and reading the comments, I don't think I could take a chance on this car. There's nothing worse than having to take a car back to the dealer for issues and hoping they'll take care of you. It can be an especially big problem if you are modding it. I want to like these cars, but I really feel like Nissan/Infiniti quality is really dropping these days. Overall I must say I'm very happy with my Charger Scat Pack...no issues at 36k miles. I can't add power easily like with these turbo cars, but it's pretty quick stock and it never gives me any trouble. Gotta like that.
The 3.7 Q50 is better than the 3.0 turbo in my opinion. I would never buy the turbo but I love my 2014 Q50 3.7 awd...shes coming up on 100k
Serious issues
2018
My engine was loosing coolant at 33k
Overheating
Ended up having to replace the engine 😒
I heard no mention of the porous block issue.
2019 Q50 RS 400 stock! I feel a horrible turbo lag at times. When i gun it around 45mph+. I have 11k miles on the car.
Plus im not sure if im used to acceleration or what but cars started feel a but slower!
Is this is in all drive modes? Or Sport etc?
2016 RS Here. AWD system failure. Car dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Pulled over. Still drivable. Infiniti dealer said wheel speed sensor. Also said so many failures that Infiniti was not prepared, back ordered part. Not sure if that’s the kind of issue you’re looking for.
From what I've learned in the early 2014 models had that similar issue. But I mainly talkin in regards to the engine itself
I have a intermittent electronic issue. They key will just flat out not work and bluetooth to my phone will just crap out.
Dam that sucks under warranty?
Erick Torres try to take the SD card out and then put it back in, that’s what I did to fix the problem
40k 2017 Q60 with JB4. No issue.
What about now?
@@m.dluffy5143 Switched to Racebox ECUTEK tune. Still reliable. The only problem I had was the belt

My Water pump my boy @ 23,000 miles .. q60 2020 3.0 t front wheel drive & I live in Miami ..
The serpentine belt on my 2016 busted on the 81 heading up to Hershey... was crazy in heavy traffic no more juice...
i currently have a 2018 infiniti q60 red sport with 25k miles and just had my head gasket replaced due to coolant in the cylinder head and that still has not fixed the coolant loss i am currently having. My car is sitting at the dealer right now and are thinking about an engine replacement.
I had that same issue they had my car for 3 months
@@deonrobinson644 I am currently getting a new engine. the dealer has no idea where the coolant is going. They think its a porous block so they did an oil analysis and it came back saying there is coolant mixing with oil
Bought my 2016 q50 I complained about my serpentine belt when I was about to buy it but the sales person said it was fine .. 3 Months Later blew my coolent & O RING, C-O Ring , and Serpentine Belt All In One! MADE A HUGE CONPLAINT when I took it to the dealer and they replaced them with new parts thank you @boostinmotion I’m learning more and more about my 16’ Q50 your videos are a huge help! But honestly I regret getting a 2016 q50 I should’ve gotten the 2015 3.7 🤣🤣
My 2018 Q50 Red Sport needed its engine replaced after the oil ran super low.
No issues here 2017 Q50 Rs AWD, 19k miles.
I have a 2016 q50. Ive had it since new and now have 67,000 on it, unfortunately Ive had my rear diff seal replaced and also the biggest has been that both turbos needed to be replaced at 65,000. For some reason the oil seals blew. I dont beat on the car and its completely stock. My wife does drive it from time to time, but who knows. Other than that car has been fine.
That's a lot of miles i wonder the mileage for these stock turbos
Was it pricey getting your turbos replaced?

Low oil or maybe the head gasket went
@@BoostInMotion it did have full exhaust, burger intercooler, intakes, blow off valves, oil catch can and a jb4 tune. Could that have been it? The car was okay on oil and wasn’t low at the time.
Okay that changes everything mileage is high on those turbos too.
@@aliu_q60a26 they blew at the same time?
@@michaela2759 I believe so. Dealership said medal shavings got into the engine. my guess is because of the turbos going. Everything was replaced under warranty and then I ended up getting the extended warranty

The car loves it! Just wanted to throw that out there.
No issues with the car so far.

First off when a engine is breaking in they tend to use oil and for the injector issue that happens to all cars that have an injectors so it's not an issue parts fail
This is highly informational. I was curious on these newer designs since they moved away from the VQ bases lol. Good video!
This engine will be going into the new Z. This is a concern. Now I’m having second thoughts about the purchase. Supra maybe the way to go.
Have a friend who’s a Master Tech for Toyota for over 20 years and he says their shop is ALWAYS full of Supra’s. Said it’s a total piece of garbage and he’s pretty sure Toyota regrets ever getting involved with BMW on it.
Thanks for this info. I was interested, want reliability. Keeping my 2009 Honda V6 coupe "non Turbo" car. Never has problems. Interesting : ?

Now at 47k no issues
King David thanks for the update
I was at 88k and my engine blew a day after a oil change. I really think it's the dealers negligence but they are claiming a piston blew. They are trying to charge me over 4 grand for a replacement engine. I'm really disappointed with Infiniti over this issue.

I change my oil every 3,500 miles . Bought the car brand new .. thanks god I was covered by warranty
What happened or what does it look like?
Is this fixed in 2018 or 2019+ models?

Bro I don’t know if it happened yet but your turbos are going out. This is one of the signs.

Yes sir 2018 and up turbo is better
Old post but others may be interested to know, in 2018+ models Infinity improved the seals on the turbos.
It is still vitally important to keep tabs on the motor oil as it is used to lubricate and cool the turbos as well.
The idea of going 10K miles on an oil change on a turbo car is insane to me.
