Very fun to run across this video! My friend Don and I had been rock touring (that's Don's old green ambulance that Todd rides in on) and ended up in Hueco when Todd was shooting this video and needed some belay slaves for When Legends Die. Brings back good memories of good times. Thanks.
That footage of Fred brings me back to being 13 years old and climbing for the first time. I saw this video on VHS and was so impressed with not only Fred's strength and route but also his humble disposition. Thank you for uploading this.
When climbing used to be just for the brave, not for the masses. Most people nowadays boulders with tons of crash pads, and even so, they are as far as possible from conquering theirs fear.
Risking injury for no reason is stupid. They were brave only because no one had invented good pads yet. Only dopes like John Sherman continued to boulder without them out of "principle". Now John has two artifical hips.
