Wow Rhys - you nailed the goal setting - unusual in this day and age - but the most powerful tool ever - I have trained over 900 people those principles ....but that's another story ...have fun and enjoy - I retired early and am are also doing what you are, hunting fishing and carvaning...so much fun!
Thanks Darren. I'm very new to it, but it has been life changing - I still have a lot of work to do with it, but slow progress and directionally correct! That's awesome that you've taught it even, you'd be a handy guy to chat to about it. Great to hear you're also out there enjoying your best life, it's an amazing way to live aye! Cheers for watching!
It sure does! Especially for people like ourselves who want to explore every valley and mountain aye. I always thought it would be so cool to travel the South Island for a month. I've just done 3.5 months and have barely scratched the surface.
Thanks for the comments! The narration is a hard one to do, slowly getting better. Consistency is a hard one for sure, especially while trying to just be out there living life and exploring. Cheers for watching!
Good to see you again Rhys, your doing what most of us dream about, I guess we just gotta take that first step off the treadmill and see what happens, looks like you getting it right, take care out there.
Yeah it's a daunting feeling to take the leap, but what's the worst that can happen 🤷♂️ Start all over again worst case scenario. I didn't want it to just be a dream, no regrets yet!
Your face lit up when talking about filling your cup and how happy you feel living on the road. Love the humour also with the salmon/trout brain glitch 😂
Great video Rhys really enjoyed it. A hint for washing, get some light wire coat hangers hang all your Tees and tops on them, you can hang them either on a line or any branch etc. you can also peg things to the bottom of the coat hanger. Real handy if you need to bring in urgently when it rains lol
Thank you! Oh that is a really good idea, funny enough I threw all those out when I sold my house, thinking I won't need them 😅 I might need to get some more, thanks for the tip!
We retired early and bought a motorhome. We aren't like you of course because we are only part time but I just did the figures and in over 2.5 years we have spent nearly 390 days on the road! We just love the freedom so I'm enjoying your videos. You are such an allrounder ie, goal setting, videoing, bottling fruit etc and then hunting and fishing. Good on you for getting on with what you love. I did cringe when I saw you hanging clothes on the window latches though and was so relieved when I saw that clothes line! Anyway more videos please :)
That sounds amazing, that's alot if time on the road 👏 The freedom is great aye! Yeah Jack of all trades, master of none I am 😅 I do need to sort myself out a better washing line, its on my to-do list. Thanks for watching!
Nice work - a bit more part-time on the van ourselves. Keen to know your thoughts on the Ezi-Jack - considering getting one to replace the rubbish jacks that seem to be on most Aussie caravans (and European too I'm sure). I've seen the BlackJack is huge in US and AU, but ideally would like to buy Kiwi if it's up to the job. Did you fit it yourself or was it with the van you got? Thanks :)
Hey, I've been on the road with it now for 3 and a half months, I move around alot so it gets used alot more than a weekender van. I've absolutely loved it so far, no complaints. I've had no issues with it.
Outstanding content, wonderful seeing the journey unfold for you, most excellent. Catch up on the road some time, back down south for the annual winter wonderland adventure next year 2025. Best wishes from the Waikato :)
Your bmp pro 35 is limiting the amount of charge you are getting to a maximum of 35 amps your 900 watts of solar should be able to bring 60 amps or more you may want to look at a couple of mppt controllers to charge your batteries
Cheers for that - One thing I forgot to show and mention in this video is that I have a second solar controller. The original 420w run through the BMPRO 35, and the additional 500w runs through an Epever controller.
Thanks Rhys ,did you buy it 2nd hand and then do all the mods , love your posts ,if you dont mind me asking , what do you think it owes you if you dont want to answer ,that all good ,keep up the grewt work
I don't mind at all. Yeah I bought the caravan second hand, it was about 18months old I think. I haven't done anything to it, other than add extra solar. Total purchase price was 120K with the extra solar. Cruiser owes me just over 60K.
Hi Rhys Serious question That’s roughly the best part of a 300k setup How did you manage to save for that and support the on going costs Did you have to sell a house and just went for it? I’d love to do what you’re doing but would need to sell everything so no plan B Sheer curiosity, not intended to be a tall poppy thing
Hey, thanks - love the question! It's about 200k for the setup, I bought a GXL model cruiser, probably 25-30k cheaper than any VXs at the time and I bought the caravan second hand (about 18months old). The setup is a little excessive I suppose, you could do it far cheaper, but I love it! I did sell my house, boat, ute and most belongings which has allowed me alot of freedom financially, will make it harder later to get back in the market but that's ok. I didn't want the comfort of a plan B. I have most of my house money invested & in term deposits, creating some interest, but living off a chunk of the money at the moment. Pretty daunting going from a good paying salary to nothing, but I'm excited to work it out as I go! As long as I put in enough effort I'm sure I can rebuild a decent income on the road. Cheers!
It's one thing killing wildlife to eat. I do not have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with, is when you do NOT take the whole animal !! That is appalling ! That animal gave its life. The least you could do is respect that and eat all of the carcass. Carrying the animal back to the caravan is your problem and you should consider that prior to pulling the trigger. Looks like you are enjoying yourself. Do you not get lonely? Where did you buy the "Gold Digger" book? Any good? Did you need such a large caravan - now that you have had time using it? Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
Are you a hunter yourself? If you take the time to watch any of my other hunting videos you'll find most of my animals shot are head or neck shot and I get to utilise every bit of the animal, it's one key point of mine is to always harvest as much meat as possible. I normally shoot things up close in the bush, when shooting out in the open like this I will place a shoulder shot. That makes the whole front end not usable due to damage. Why would I carry an entire carcass out of the hills just to take the same amount of meat off back there?
That's good that nothing is wasted, what do you do with the skins, bones and brain etc? To answer your questions: I don't get lonely, I'm good with my own company. Also meet a lot of cool people on the road. The Gold Digger diary was purchased from the MiGoals website. I probably don't need such a big caravan, but I wouldn't change it for now, I never wanted to be crammed or struggling for space, so it's ideal for what I want. Cheers

Your face lit up when talking about filling your cup and how happy you feel living on the road. Love the humour also with the salmon/trout brain glitch 😂
It's certainly a pretty good life 😊 Haha oh yeah I was quite confident I'd caught Salmon until I sent a photo to my mate the next day. 😅
@SSRhys your mate was probably scratching their head thinking wtf(ish)🤣

Such an amazing place aye! I was very stoked to find my own little secluded camp site up Mt Cook.
@SSRhys yeah that campsite you had there was paradise, and you got a good hunt in to,and the scenery is amazing, you,ll be going back there I reckon.

How much power does the coffee machine use? Thats an awsome caravan. Is it aussie made and assembled or chinese and aussie assembled ?
1400w from memory. It's certainly my biggest power consumer! I did consider not bringing it along, but I love a good coffee.
Full aussie these ones 👍
Bro u wna take a eco flow river pro with a solar panel good back up supply of power
I've got the Honda generator for my backup 👍
awesome mate , what length is your caravan ?
Cheers mate. It's a 21ft body. But overall length is 8.6m.
