    I received my smart drive a few days ago. And what a difference moving around. I can move slow, or fast, and very helpful to help not having to push my chair everywhere. I have been wheelchair bound for many years. I am happy to have my smart drive!!!!

    I love your channel, I just got my MX2 upgraded to the MX2+ like yours & I am loving it. The MX2 only required one tap to stop, however now i jave all of tje versions available through the new wristband.

    I love using my smart drive. I have the same one as you, and it makes moving around much easier!!.. Like she says, keep the push tracker charged every day. It will not last as long as the smart drive. what i do , is like when i am at an Art show, i turn off my push tracker when looking at things, then when I want to move fast, i turn it on again.

      I did the same. It IS your best option because it can move seamlessly from one chair to another, so if your in a loaner chair while one is being repaired, your still good. I like the flexibility in that regard, and it is only 12 lbs.

    I've been in a wheelchair after 3 Major strokes and a plane crash that pretty much destroyed my left shoulder. I use a manual chair in order to stay in fit and awaiting Total Shoulder Replacement finally after 30 yrs!!! I love being in shape and for 73 yrs old and fighting my 5 bout of Cancer (Stage 4 Liver Cancer presently) I'm tickled to be alive and able to get around as well as I do... Maybe when I get my Smartdrive for my Ti Quickie I will do a video to show how it works for me!!

    This is a great vid, thank you! How does the Smart Drive handle rough ground? I'm guessing it's in its element when used on pavements and on hard surfaces but maybe not for off-roading?!! ha ha! Interesting though - I like the idea of it, especially as it is an easy add-on, isn't too heavy and doesn't require adding cross bars and extra weight like some of the hand bike add-ons do. In the UK these types of things are not covered so we have to self-fund, if possible. Food for thought! xx

    I'm hoping to get funding for the smart drive from NDIS. Just had a demo today and it took a bit of getting used to. It's heavier than I thought but the other option was to have smart drive in the wheels which was heavier. I get a sore back and shoulders so this will help

    • @tarns17
      @tarns17 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just received mine through NDIS - I've only been using it the last few days, and it already is a gamechanger in my life! I'm still getting used to it (and yes, the weight of the unit is something to get used to as well...but its already starting to feel less 'weighty' the more I lift it/get used to it) - but I'm sure over time it will be second nature (just like when I went from crutches to chair...now using my chair is done without having to even think about it).
      I live on a hilly street (not tooo steep, but a huge effort if I want to go to the local park). Today, I went from home not just to my local park, but other areas around my neighbourhood, with minimal effort - amazing feeling! I lost function of my left arm two years ago (surgery brought it 'back' last year but it was a huge wakeup call!), and I can already see how this will preserve my limbs for much longer, in my life.

      it will save your shoulders and rotator cuffs in the future. After years of pushing, my friend finally had to have surgery on his shoulders. From that standpoint, the sooner you can get it, to take the stress off your shoulders and wrist joints, the better

    Thank you for you vid on the unit. I have one of the earlier versions of the SmartDrive wheel. Based on the number of enhancements to the operability (the way that it is activated) I think I have version 2 maybe. I think you are demonstrating version number 4 or 5 based on what I see. 1) I have to activate the switch that is mounted on the chair somewhere to "ON", 2) then give the wheels one push to get it to kick in and take over the pushing, 3) then push again harder if I want to go faster, 3a) but if I go down a hill the wheelchair will pick up speed unless I grab the wheels and resist the speed, 4) then when I want to have it stop pushing - I have to grab and stop the wheels (which takes some strength) or turn off the switch.I like the newer way of having a wrist band to start the pushing - for obvious reasons.Have you experienced my number 3a when you go down an incline? If you turn it off with a double tap of the wrist does the wheel simply turn off? Does it give any resistance to the hill or does it free wheel?One last question - I've heard that this version has the battery built into the SmartDrive wheel case itself rather than being a separate PACK of batteries that is usually hanging under the seat like mine? True or not?

    Hi Nicole,
    I watched your video because I want a new SmartDrive. I saw you driving over bumpy terrain too. I also do that regularly;) because I want to participate as much as possible everywhere. I have a FreeWheel for the first time this year. I live in the Netherlands and have 2 sons, I also take a walk in the woods with them. During my vacation we were in France and now I could easily join the old towns. If you want I can send you a picture of this. It's just a tip :)

    It's a pity the Design in so Flawed ! I've done nothing but replace the small Contact Wheels due to there Uneven Wearing that occurs due to the poor thought that went into the wheel placement by way of running the small rubber wheels inline with the frame ! What the designer should have done is offset the small rubber wheels so they ran at an angle in instead of running straight when contacting the road / footpath surface ! By angling the small rubber wheels it would of forced the wheels to rotate everytime contact is made Rather than waiting for the machine to turn to make a rotation ! I don't understand why they did it like they did But my guess is to cercomgate a patent ! or it was intentional so as to provide additional income by way of spare parts ! Either way its cost me hundreds of additional dollars to maintain it anywhere near serviceable / usable .
