To me guys what's highly worrisome is how flat the Bengals looked today. Every year this team looks unprepared, this goes directly on the coaching or better yet lack thereof. Awful. 😏👎
It's not too soon to fire up the flame on the Zac Taylor hot seat. This team looks unprepared far too often and it's been going on for years. With this talent they should have run New England off our field. Early season wins and losses are just as important as they are in December, but this coach doesn't get that. Turn up the heat.

The "Young Genius" is loaded with possession type receivers and yet doesn't have the simple 7 yard slant play that Brady lived on for years in the playbook. The Super Bowl year will one day be seen as one of the biggest flukes in the history of sports.
A pie in the face for a home opener. It flat out sucked. Not a lot of high-level analysts required. No one lit the wick on this explosive offense. No matches, maybe? Sports media spent the last two weeks talking about how the league will tremble at the Bengals feet. Wow.
Bates is gone. Chido is gone. Boyd is gone. Mixon is gone. Reader is gone. These players were the souls of the team. What’s left is a shell of what they once were. Mixon looked outstanding today. Bates was an all-pro as soon as he left for Atlanta. Meanwhile the offensive line is STILL atrocious. Literally everyone except the coaching staff knew the run defense was not properly addressed. If the Patriots can gash us like that, what do you think is going to happen in our division games? Let alone next week against the Chiefs. Pollack remaining employed defies all logic at this point. Zac taking almost no accountability and basically chalking up his 1-11 record in the first 2 games of the season as bad luck is inexcusable. The bad vibes have been around this team for weeks. This was reality hitting us in the face.
The part about losing Boyd Mixon Chito Bates Reader Jonah ..not to mention Cally hit me like ton a bricks too when looked around and saw all were gone. Absolutely correct. This is not nearly the same roster from 21-22 and too much of the great character culture we once had has been purged. Now we are left with a diminished roster lets be brutally honest but more importantly the heart and soul has taken a major hit . The Chase-Tee saga to me reminds so so much of the 2010 wr diva drama that eventually ended the Carson era it got so bad. Watching the body language and lack of passion or effort vs Pats was really disturbing. Yes dont forget this was administered by a team that might win 5 games this year too. Oh no
No tight end, no running back, offensive line still not good, defense can't stop the run. It's going to be a long season.

Zach moss looked solid today. Oline looked decent, trent browns first game in long time. what this loss came down to is poor playcalling, no tackling on defense, and those horrendous fumbles

Turnovers took 7 points from the Bengals and gave 6 points to the pats. The punt at the end of the game was cowardly. Chase contract negotiations clearly affected this game and thats on both Chase for being the first player ever to hold out with two years left on a rookie contract and the front office for not getting business done in a timely manner. Bengals ALWAYS drag their feet on contract talk, like it doesnt effect the player and team. They still havent got the dang contract done

I always hate seeing a QB show up to a primetime game showing off their "drip". We have lost those games with Burrow and even with Dalton when he tried to pull it off.
UGLY loss is the simple statement. I saw a team that got out played in all facets of the game. I saw a team that HEARD all week, they were going to win the game, BUT forgot they need to play to accomplish that goal. I saw a team that had no clue what their identity is. Yes.....its the first game, but the expectation is GREATER than what we witnessed today. Hopefully, this is their wake-up call to be better and move forward.

I haven't missed a podcast in two years and I'll weigh in with my $.02 for the first time. I hope this is an over reaction. The simple reason we lost today was both turnovers. This 0-1 feels different than it has in the past for a few reasons -
1.) The coaching staff - The Pats out coached us in every aspect of the game. The play calling was terrible. The decision making was terrible. I can't find one positive from a coaching standpoint today. I won't recap all of the points you made. Mixon running for 160 with a TD today is the perfect example of why the Pollack/ZT system for RBs will never work long term. You can't take 6-weeks to figure things out and be successful. Today was a handout from the NFL and the Bengals botched it.
2.) The front office puts guaranteed money over winning 100% of the time. If you don't think Chase's contract is impacting the team then you aren't paying attention. It has the potential to sour the season and the fans are the real losers. The front office's decision to not re-structure contracts is the reason we no longer have Bates/Reader, and the same goes for Tee. Stop drafting blue chip talent and let them walk away to be pro bowlers elsewhere. I'd be shocked if Tee plays 8 games this year.
3.) The offseason - we made all of these moves to address gaps and get better.. but you watch the game today and.. Burton can't learn the playbook, Jenkins is getting surgery, Murphy is on the IR. Sheldon Rankins was nowhere to be found today and BJ hill is hurt. How much worse can the defensive line get? How many more big name offensive lineman can we sign before we say Frank Pollack is a terrible OL coach?
3.) Our defense - our defense will not win 2 games in the AFCN if we can't figure out a way to do the basics like tackling and stopping the run. Our defense hasn't recovered since 2021 and has been severely declining since then.
It's only week one but I don't think this loss could have been any worse. It seems like things are unraveling before our eyes and there is less certainty now than there was after being 0-2 the last two seasons.
100% spot on, we're now in a situation where we have to upset the Chiefs, or rely on the rest of the season going perfectly to win the Super Bowl.
From this analysis by Jake and James, the finger should be squarely pointed at everyone in the organisation. Poor front office, poor coaching, poor play, poor decisions. Hopefully, playing KC will wake them up.🤷♂️
Why did we get rid of joe mixon if we didnt use the cap space to sign anyone good or keep key pieces like reader
My biggest gripe with the entire off season. I listened to people keep telling me that they could get the same production cheaper than keeping mixon. I never bought into that idea. He was already cheaper than most upper echelon backs and all I remember is him coming up huge in big games for us, with the season production to match.

As I sat and watched this game snacks in hand so ready, I just couldn’t believe how bad it was. We are so looking forward to a WAY better start this year, and next Sunday is going to be brutal.
Side note of comedy...the league wanted less touchbacks and more kick returns but instead of moving the kicker back??...they come up with a convoluted plan that emphasizes touchbacks be 5 yards better? How silly this has turned out
We have 275 million reasons why to not punt the ball to a team that you know you can’t stop from running.
I feel it’s time to get rid of Zac Taler he has one of the best quarterback in the league and he continues to use these pass plays that goes nowhere like a minis 5 yard pass plays. Throw the ball down field.
To me Zac is a great locker room coach, but the scheme is tired. The running game is an embarrassment and never seems to get any better. And then, you’re right, the passing seems contingent on making the defense miss after the catch. Can’t we scheme at least some plays that gain positive yards from the route?

Very frustrating especially being so passive on offense knowing that we look the best whenever we're aggressive and on attack mode. Then the punt on 4th and 5 with 3mins left and we can't stop the run is wild!

Before I watched the game on DVR I saw a snippet of a Joe Burrow press conference saying something disappointing but I didn't want to hear it. As I watched the game I understood that they really lost and this is how you lose a game to the biggest Week 1 Underdog. There was opportunity after opportunity throughout the game that the Bengals missed and the Patriots did not. The clock ran and ran until it finally ran out. There was a lack of urgency and concentration throughout the game on the Bengals part. Coach Mayo and his team executed their game plan to a win. Impressive.
Wow hold on a second. Have you looked at the stat lines from the game? Because I am looking at it right now and according to this Dax Hill was not only the best CB in the game but he was the best defensive player period in the game. Dax had 8 tackles 7 of them solo tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, 1 pass deflection, and 1 QB hit. He also had the only fucking sack in the game. He plays CORNERBACK and he had the only sack in the game. The only player with more total tackles was Logan Wilson with 13 but he and Dax were tied with 7 solo tackles. It seems to me that Dax did his job. Where was Mike Hilton? He had 3 whole tackles. CTB had 6 tackles and 0 pass breakups. The Defense the pass defense held the Patriots to 121 yards. That is DAM GOOD. It’s not the secondary’s responsibility to stop people running between the fucking tackles. That’s the D line and linebackers responsibility. I will not let you blame Dax Hill for that. That is absurd. Dax was the best CB on the Bengals team. Period. The run defense is terrible. Take a look at Sheldon Rankins run defense grade last year with the Texans. It was 35.8. Why in the fuck didn’t the Bengals get a good run defender in free agency?? And you just lost a viewer. Im unsubscribing and you will never see me here again. Dax wasn’t the one missing tackle. He was the one making tackles. Look at the stat line.

That Joe had command of the offense, sorry, no, unless you have control at the line of scrimmage and can adjust your routes to make your receivers more open then no. At the end, with the game on the line, Taylor had a choice between putting the game in the hands of Joe Burrow or maybe the worst run defense in the NFL, he chose option B. Taylor doesn't make our chances of winning a Super Bowl zero, but man does he significantly impede them.

I bet on this team for Super Bowl. It has enough talent. I think what bothers me more than anything else about this loss is the team did not seem to care, particularly its stars. Tee is smiling on sidelines, Chase loafing off the field, Burrow is not yelling to go for it on 4th late in game, but more than willing to shrug and lag off the field. Hendrickson balled on defense, but few others seemed to even show up. This was the worst game I have watched in last 6 years. I was at the Pitt opener in 2022 and that game was different. Bengals fought all the way back, and long snapper injury; plus dumb Taylor calls, lost the game. Taylor NEVER appears ready in opener, but this time players seemed to lack heart. This is the NFL. Bengals have more talent, but NOT that much more talent than other teams. If everyone is just going to treat game day like an ordinary day at office then this will be a long season. The best teams, despite the money, despite the fame, just want to win. Those teams dump divas even if they are all stars (see Pats). I expected Burrow to lead yesterday and instead he had excuses after game. All legit, but excuses. First game back from injury, etc. The offense looked like it thought they had five quarters to come back and defense cannot sustain the game (which is not really what we expect anyway). This may be foreshadowing of another flop season. If so, changes need to be made from top to bottom, including coach, who was good and won some games, but could not get very talented team to next level.

When you make the preseason a joke, you will always lose early. Year after year Zac won’t change a dam thing and you lose five out of six first games. Coach is a quick learner obviously. Also our team chemistry is a joke. Higgins will takeoff half the season because he thinks 20 something million isn’t enough. Also Chase Decides to kick back for the whole preseason, that always helps. Back to my original comment, this is the crap that happens when you take preseason as a joke.

Play calling is absolutely terrible. Yes we had drops etc but play calling and decision makings is absolutely terrible. I knew first play would be a run. Can i point out a serious question we all must ponder? Other than joe chase and tee and Mac....did any other Bengals get drafted in your fantasy leagues? Id rather have Hunter Henry and Ramandre Stephenson than what we run out there. Our wr 3 is now closer to #1 with the Chase-Tee sagas and the TI-SIZZLE combos cant win their individual matchups consistently vs any NFL dbs. Im kinda getting vibe our roster regressed on offense.. Anyone else getting this sinking feeling? Heck i feel better with Burton out there than the wr group we have left if Chase-Tee sagas continue?

Sometimes when all you talk about is a fast start it mentally makes you play tight. The Bengals played like the Andy Daulton/Marvin Lewis teams played in the playoffs. All the question then was will you win a playoff.
They just are not good enough I called the loss last week go back and check … and there gonna get smoked next week .. being a lifelong Bengal fan has so much pain involved and I stopped being optimistic years ago now I just called it for what it is
