The music composition is very much Who's That Girl, especially at the beginning. I'm not really sure who she is singing about. Her vocal delivery is just way too high. I can see why this didn't make it onto an album as it's a fairly weak effort overall. It definitely would not have fit on the Like A Prayer album, as it lacked the dramatic mood of that album.
You know, I actually wonder if this was originally written as a possible soundtrack song for Who's That Girl. Again, musically at the beginning, you can clearly hear the musical notes from the WTG single. And the lyrics almost would fit the theme of the movie.

LAP gets the dramatic mood description all the time, sure the title track, Till Death, Promise To Try, Oh Father.....but Express Yourself, Cherish, Keep It Together, DEAR JESSIE?? all bubblegum pop that had True Blue-esque production
