Honestly, thank you so much for leaving your small breakdown in bc I struggle SO MUCH with stuff like that and I dont calm myself well in the moment. So hearing you talk yourself through it "I didn't have room for the chicken anyway, my floor needed to be cleaned" was reassuring that I can also calm myself.
If you ever drop glass, rub a piece of bread over the floor to pick up the little bits! Someone taught me this recently and it’s a great tip. Also, I’m currently pmsing and can fully relate to the breakdown and have literally had one over this exact same situation.

This is honestly perfect timing. I was trying to look into how to ... start??? healthy options, and then ended up in hospital for surprise gallbladder removal (which went very poorly), which is even MORE incentive to eat better. I love fruits, i like veg, my problem is 100% lack of knowledge and drive to actually do it. My parents didn't ... this sounds terrible, but my parents didn't really cook or feed us. They were working all the time, there wasn't really food at home. It was very "survive for yourself and hope maybe we order out at some point." I survived off of bananas and cheerios. Having small, quick to put together things, that aren't just garbage for me is really all I want. I will try your prep, here. Im sorry you were having one of those days when filming this! That feeling of like ... ah, one thing went wrong. Two more things went wrong when I tried to fix it. Four more when I tried to fix those! I have actually stopped and looked up at the ceiling and hollered "why" at the domino of kerfuffle more times in my life than I can even count. I hope you got all the glass up, and that the rest of your day (/week/time) after filming this was smooth sailing.

This egg peeling trick is going to be life changing for me. Before you even started commenting about it, I was HONED in, like, "omg, what is Irene doing with that spoon I need to take notes!". and yes, carbs are good for you. It hurts my heart and soul when people think otherwise. Our ideas of health align. Maybe because we have a similar background. Also, I prefer chicken tenderloins to chicken breasts. I hate that little tendon thing though. This is another life changing hack for me. Thank you so much. I am so sorry about your pan and your chicken. All of my love and hugs. Sometimes it's just one thing after another and that can be so overwhelming, but these times do pass.

I felt your pain when the dish fell... my mom ended up breaking a couple of glasses recently, accidentally, one was under a pot, one knocked over by her hand.. so now we have a routine, whoever is able to get our footwear grabs them, i get my flashlight out and we clean up and make sure there's no slivers around, cause i am a little bitch when it comes to pain LOL but it works :)

Fun fact: I learned that adding a little white vinegar to the water you boil your eggs in and that makes it SOOO much easier to take the shell off! It doesn't change the taste whatsoever. I also sit my eggs in cold water for a couple minutes after theyre done, that helps with the shell as well. I've never tried the spoon trick before, I'm going to try that :)

The debate about carbs being “bad” is mostly from keto. But keto doesn’t deem them “bad”. There are carbs in everything. You can even have berries. What keto advises against are simple carbs like bread, pasta, potatoes, rice etc. Honestly as someone who struggles with insulin resistance it worked pretty good for a while but I really do believe in everything in moderation now. Should I go balls to the wall with white carbs all the time? Lol! No. No one should all the time but just like Irene says, some is ok. So yes. Carbs are good. Most especially complex ones like brown rice and sweet potatoes as they have more vitamins but even simple carbs like white rice and pasta are ok sometimes. Glycemic index foods can come into play here too. Sometimes I have to be careful because of my insulin resistance but I’m not going to completely restrict anymore. Been there, done that. Let’s not again. 😅

I know it’s simple...one of my FAVORITE healthy snacks is Persian cucumbers sliced up with chèvre cheese spread on top. So light and so good.

What keto advises against are simple carbs like bread, pasta, potatoes, rice etc. Honestly as someone who struggles with insulin resistance it worked pretty good for a while but I really do believe in everything in moderation now. Should I go balls to the wall with white carbs all the time? Lol! No. No one should all the time but just like Irene says, some is ok. So yes. Carbs are good. Most especially complex ones like brown rice and sweet potatoes as they have more vitamins but even simple carbs like white rice and pasta are ok sometimes. Glycemic index foods can come into play here too. Sometimes I have to be careful because of my insulin resistance but I’m not going to completely restrict anymore. Been there, done that. Let’s not again. 😅

Love you, Irene! I feel bad about your glass dish. Such great ideas, for healthy snacks. I’d love to see the same for breakfast. I prefer actually eating something likes eggs with bacon or sausage. I get lazy and just want cereal, but it’s not filling enough. Any suggestions?

I 10000 percent agree with you on the carb thing. I HATE people being keto because it's honestly so unhealthy to me. Balance, as you said, is key to me. This helps me feel good about what I view as healthy too.
