      Yeah! I hope we get to film together like this more in the future but she does have her own job as a teacher... I enjoy sharing with her and hope that some of the conversations and questions translate to people here who might be new or just enjoy another perspective :D

      +ElectricBikeReview.com i agree.. its nice to hear from a perspective that is new to the e-bike scene.. That can provide you questions that you may overlook since you are frequently exposed to ebikes on a regular basis and making trivial things that may be important to some people but seem the norm to you. And as you can see from the comments.. We love her! you lucky lucky dog! hope to see more from her in the future

      Yeah! I'm glad you enjoyed that... it seems like I learn something new with each review and sometimes it's not just about the bike but how to show the bike or film better, Brandy did a great job filming for her first time!

    I just bought one of these. Very comfortable. Those beefy tires handle anything a cracked street or sidewalk can throw your way. The delay in the motor doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I like it. I am not taken by surprise when the power kicks in. Seems smooth in fact. The lack of a throttle is not a problem. I simply use assist 2 or 3 to climb hills. The bike is not hard to pedal in non electric mode. Thanks for inspiring me to buy it.

    I was thinking of purchasing a BionX kit and upgrading my current folding bicycle to an electric bike, but this whole bicycle costs less than the BionX kit. Makes me re-think about modifying my bike and just purchasing this one or similar. Thanks for the review! You have successfully converted your gf into a electric bike rider.

    Court, thanks for the review. I was thinking about one for my wife. Sounds/looks perfect for her. We just started selling those little guys and I haven't got to do much more than look one over because they're going out the door as fast as the guys can build them up! Oh and thanks for the rain shots! The weather here in SoCal this past week of Oct '17 has been like something out of Herbert's Dune series so just seeing that was refreshing :^)

    This bike is very very similar to a version of the Shinga Trotter T400 bike I have here in Europe. That too is a folding e-bike, that blends in, although the wheels are much sturdier I think. Same 250w motor, just this looks a little more curved. Great review, it's good to see other electric folding bikes being reviewed! :)

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're right! The Shinga Trotter appears to have cast wheels (Aluminum or Magnesium) which are stronger than spokes but don't flex as much and can sometimes weigh more too. The Trotter T400 looks a lot like the Enzo to me electricbikereview.com/enzo-ebikes/folding-electric-bike/

    • @Delphster
      @Delphster 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was actually your review of the Enzo that put me on the track of the Shinga! I wanted to find something available in Europe that was that same "blend in" style. :)
      You are right about the wheels and the weight - it's heavy enough that it's tough to carry with one hand especially when folded. I didn't go for the suspension version because that's even heavier.

  • @genecarleton273
    @genecarleton273 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    @14:30 - Since these are mechanical disc brakes, you don't have to worry about pulling on the brake levers when the wheel is off the bike. That problem only exists with hydraulic disc brakes. And don't worry about turning the handlebars when putting the bike in the car...it folds up.

  • @jonneet2126
    @jonneet2126 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I believe you say in the video that this bike is made in Taiwan? Taiwan makes some very good products. I own two gas powered scooters from two different companies in Taiwan. One is a Kymco People 150, the other is a SYM HD200. There is another company, Genuine Scooters that is made in Taiwan and all three export their products to the US. The quality of these companies is quite good. In fact, all three companies give two year warranties on these scooters. Maybe that doesn't sound too impressive, but, when you consider all of the Japanese "big four" (Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki) only give one year warranties, and even Vespa, only gives one year, you can see the Taiwanese scooter makers have good confidence in their bikes quality. These three companies all also make, and have made, regular motorcycles also. If this ebike maker has neafr the quality of the scooter makers, this should be quite a good ebike. It should be a good step up from the Chinese makers in general.
    Forgot to mention the third Taiwanese scooter maker, PGO. I think PGO may make the scooters sold by Genuine Scooters here in the US. PGO, again, runs a two year warranthy, and their products are also highly regarded. SYM, PGO, Kymco, and Genuine all compare favorably to Vespa and the Japanese big four.
    Oh yeah, your girl friend is really a pretty lady!!

    do you have a wireless lavalier microphone or a camera mountable shotgun mic?
    It would really help with the sound.

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't at the moment and yeah... I realize that's a big area for improvement. As it is, this video has been adjusted for sound volume and that takes a lot of time and still doesn't come out perfectly. I have thought about using a separate mic system and overlaying the audio. Do you have any tips on this? I film with a handheld gimbal and GoPro Hero 4 Silver because it's so portable and easy to ride with. I'm open to your input

    Great review, as always! Thank you! How would you compare this bike to the Voltbike Urban?

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a bit lighter and feels stiffer because the handlebar doesn't telescope and there's no suspension. I haven't looked at the latest VoltBike but the Urban is a great value and comes with more accessories like lights. The slightly wider 2.3" vs. 1.95" tires are a nice upgrade on the Oyama

    • @jonneet2126
      @jonneet2126 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi EBR, I couldn't sleep day and night. Food has became tasteless and colors are now just dull. I regretted so much that I sold my Oyama CX E8D last year. A huge mistake if you ask me. I've been looking everywhere to find a folding ebike that has a very similar power/speed the E8D offers. Since you have ridden so many different types/brand of ebikes, which one do you recommend similar to Oyama that cost less than $1k? Please help! I can't afford to buy another Oyama, they're still selling well around 1500. Please help!! How's Bennelli City Zero N2.0?

It's probably my favorite looking folder at the moment even though there are some areas for improvement. If it were just a bit cheaper I think it could become a leader

    hopefully someone could help me so I bought a seev 800 and I live in Los Angeles gonna use to go to work the problem is what the law rule for that and what class will it be and also can I ride it in the bike lane.?? hopefully someone get some info thank you new to this

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, that doesn't have pedals does it? I think you'd be operating in a grey area because it's not technically a bicycle but it also doesn't comply with DOT (no turn signals or other lights). Riding in a bike lane on the side of a road is probably the least controversial place to ride (vs. bike paths and paved sidewalks) but you could still get questioned about it. I think the key is how powerful the motor is and what the top speed is. If you stay under 20 mph and ride thoughtfully, that goes a long way towards how you might be treated by law enforcement

    Can you try the commuter electric bike from genesis it's 799$ and probably better than that bike

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll keep an eye out for that one. Sometimes it feels like the bikes I review are random (just whatever I come across) but more and more companies are working with me to arrange reviews and that makes it so much easier and faster. I have actually purchased cheaper bikes before just to review them... it's expensive and in some cases, the bikes I bought went off the market shortly after so it felt like a bit of a waste. I don't mean to become "electric bike promotion" but it's hard to ignore companies that help me get access to their products and demo events. If you hear about the Genesis or know where one is I'm open to covering it :)

    • @jonneet2126
      @jonneet2126 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Genesis isn't made with the idea of a removable battery. It's a single speed and doesn't come with disk brakes. Here is a bike I am thinking about that looks like the Genesis, but has rear disk brakes, an easily removeable battery, AND comes with a spare second battery: rideibike.com/collections/folding-bikes/products/metro-xt-folding-e-bike-arctic-white
      They call it the ibike Metro XT. It's only $100 more than the Genesis.
      I'd like to see it reviewed here.

    Don't lime the look of the straight handle bar.

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the straight bar is compact and maybe allows the bike to fold tighter but it looked a bit strange or off to me at first as well, I like the little rubber bumpers that keep it straight at the stem, this ebike had a lot of little extras on it like that
