What a beautiful performance. The opening movement is one of Bach's great opening movements even though it is not one of his great opening choruses but a complex solo (not called an aria) for bass. The warm expressive Max von Egmond singing over the musical waves, and then the the always superb, sensitive and beautiful Kurt Equiluz in the tenor recitative and aria. Those are the highlights to me, but the rest is fine too after an especially extraordinary beginning. I guess the horns in the opening movement aren't quite in key but oh well. The Gardiner 3-fer (131, 93 and 88) features an excellent performance of the first movement by Peter Harvey -- and the horns there sound great. But his tenor can't approach the magnificent Equiluz.
