Only Richard would say “It’s only a scratch.” Richard Fitzwilliam, our hero. I like stories where he gets a happy ending. Surely Richard can get her father’s approval now that he has rescued her.
Thanks for providing this. I wish the narrator could have read the entire tale. The character readings were distractingly monotone. Not sure if that’s doable, though.
Thank you for the feedback. Since I am using AI to narrate these I have had a mixture of comments. The consensus has been that the mixture of voices helps break of the monotony of an AI narrator. I appreciate your comments and hope you were still able to enjoy the story. I apologize if the voices still came off monotone. Perhaps someday I will be brave enough to read my own stories and not rely on AI to narrate them for me.
Oh dear, I sincerely hope you feel better soon. I hope The Illegitimate Heir can be an enjoyable story while you rest and recover. My prayers are with you and all others not feeling well at this New Year.
Oooo ... this is going to be so much fun! Perfect timing, as it's a snowy day & I'm staying home for a quilting day, made better with a lovely story! Thank you!
Love stories about Richard. My second favorite P&P make character and I enjoyed this one very much. Interesting plot! I’m sorry to say though I’m not a huge fan of the narrator. I feel like the tone is too monotone during the most dramatic moments and that takes away from the intensity of the scene.
Thank you so much for reading and for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate it! I will definitely take your feedback into consideration for my future AI narrations. It is hard to make the AI narrators adjust tone and settings, but I am getting better and better at it with each book I produce.
I'm so thrilled you're here to listen! This story holds a special place in my heart-it's one of my absolute favorites that I've ever written. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
It IS the full novel. I hope you love it! No purchase necessary. If you love it and want the eBook you can visit my website at www.emmalinehoffmeister.com

I loved the story line but was disappointed in the reading. It was like a very poorly acted school play. I appreciate the free audio books offered but wonder is it that much cheaper than paying a professional? And is the difference in cost worth hearing your work presented in such poor form? Character accents change, and characters voices change during a scene and sometimes even a sentence. Words are accented in a sentence giving them a different meaning than I think was intended. Just not the quality your work deserves!
Using AI is cheaper ... way cheaper. By thousands. Plus, I am giving it away for free on here so I am not willing to pay a narrator. And, the book is nearly a decade old and not making a lot of royalty's anymore so that's why I am giving it away for free. I had the book professionally narrated in 2015 and didn't even sell enough copies to pay for the narration that I only had rights to use for 7 years. Thank you for your feedback, if you would prefer to read the novel I have it available for sale on my website as well as on other book sales platforms. At this stage in my writing career this is the best I can provide when giving it away for free.

@EmmalineHoffmeister thank you for your reply! I actually have read most of your books but like to listen to these novellas and shorter books while cooking and cleaning. Thank you and I hope you continue to write more.
I'm glad you enjoy listening while cooking. I just published a new novel, LEFT BEHIND. It's the first novel in 10 years. Now that my kids are raised it's time to write again. Left Behind will not be produced in audiobook for awhile and when I do it will come out professionally narrated since it is brand new. I'm thinking the audiobook will be produced in the next year or so depending on how the book sells. It is a new genre for me, so I have to garner an entirely new readership. The book is Christian Fiction.

I love stories with Col Fitzwilliam in them. Austin didn’t include him near enough.
Finally he has his own estate !
The ending every Colonel Fitzwilliam lover wants. His own happily ever after.
