I think this game had proper ground combat simulation, I remember even the Bradleys and Blackhawks would unload soldiers. I don't know of any other game of this time that did this except Commanche
I remember it was pretty detailed... In the battle builder mode I setup a scenario of British tanks and mechanised infantry clearing city streets on a map, while my two Apaches circled around the city to give them cover from a distance. I remember just watching this whole urban battle unfold on the ground through the gun sights. It was amazing stuff for 1999.
the problem is: there are to many "casualgamers" out there, there have no time and undertstanding to read a "book" (a.e. the big book from Falcon 4.0) to learn about "how to" the game...i hope you understand what i mean...english is not my native language
Starblade11 I understand what you mean (a myriad of factors is not helping curb the "information overload" and today's players are not willing to spend more than the necessary time to at least get accustomed). Hell, from what I know, this iteration of Gunship had both Arcade and Simulation difficulty scalars, and the next-best helo flight sims I knew that didn't delve too deep into excruciating operations detail were NovaLogic's Comanche Gold and the Jane's Longbow series (arguably considered one of the best sims of the 90s)...

Have you tried the DCS series, available on Steam. The DCS series constst of amongst others Black Shark , Mi-8, Fliming Cliffs (Su25-T, SU-27, SU-33, F-15), Huey Helicopter, P51 WW2 fighter, MiG-21, and soon we will have the ME-262 and Messerschmidt Bf 109 out any day now. There was even a Kickstarter that got funded for development. All flight models recreated as close as possible. Absolute full realism, even with the way one starts the engines ! Look out for DCS video's Steam, particularly channel by Dslyecxi

I have a Trustmaster T-Flight hotas-x, don't know about the Force 3d Pro, but i think i read somewhere that pretty much any joystick that isn't from the time this game got released is supported.

M1TP2 did, Bradley’s unloading troops at designated waypoints, also Apache Longbow would unload from the Blackhawks
Ah yes, peering down that sight and cutting loose those weapons on the ground targets; one of the best memories of this game.

Great game. You can make it easy shooter ( theres even heli health bar :D ) or kinda hard simulation in options. 9+/10 for me :]

I got Comanche 4 yes, nice game. Also go apache havoc and some others trough gog i believe. Fun games.

This game is literally inpossible to accomplish without this feature. Hence, it's an feature within the game and not an actual "cheat".
How is that helicopter flying so high in open territory without getting shot at? This always bothered me about this game. Longbow 2 is better.
It's tough to even get very high with only 83% torque
