I love technotronic I'm a fan of the 80s. I was born in '88 but I remembered when this song used to blast out in the speakers while people played volleyball in my country Peru during the hot summer months. I was a little girl in the 90s when this song came out. I didnt understand what they were saying or singing but it made me happy it was during my childhood years I'll never forget the amazing mysterious voice of who sang this song. I finally had a chance to see her videos and speak to her over the phone and I almost cried. it was so nice to remember my childhood memories ☺️
That's awesome that you have those memories and experiences. Also it's so cool that you got to speak to Ya Kid K on the phone. Wow! Btw what area of Peru was this? I've visited many times. Peru is a lovely country with wonderful people and an amazing culture. Especially the food!
@@rocio7499 Hello! During the times I visited Peru I enjoyed visiting the beach during the summertime. The beach near Miraflores was nice. I enjoyed watching the paragliders lauch from the cliffs there. I drove up and down the coast a few times with friends. We went as far north as Huacho and as far south as Pisco. My favorite beach was called El Leon Dormido outside of Lima. I love Peruvian seafood, especially the ceviche. I also love tallarin verde, lomo saltado, pollo a la brasa, anticuchos, and papa rellena. Peruvian food is so delicious! I've even had bisteak de alpaca and cui con mani in Cusco. I got to visit Macchu Pichu, Ollantaytambo, and Saqsayhuaman when I was there. It was amazing. I've also been lucky enough to visit the selva in Pucalpa and eat fried fish from the river. Lots of good food in Peru. Btw I also have OCD and unusually vivid long term memory. Both can be a blessing and a curse. I can remember clearly back to my early childhood. I have wonderful memories growing up, so it's nice being able to reminisce. The intrusive thoughts from my OCD aren't fun tho. It's interesting because I haven't heard of or met anyone with both those things other than my brother. It's kind of awesome that our love of Technotronic & Ya Kid K brought us here to share things in common. Peace and love from Southern California! Take care.
I love Technotronic so Much...its reminds me of TECHNO PUMP WORLD NEW BEAT...GET UP IN PUBLIC WHEN LIP-SYNC WAS BORN IN BELGIUM AND I LOVE BELGIUM SOUNDS
Ya Kid told on her channel that she lived about a year in US, just before Bogaert invited her to Technotronic: "Ya Kid K was born in Kinshasa, Zaire (1972) and lived there until 1980. From 1980 until 1981, we (my family and I) lived in Nairobi, Kenya. Between 1981 and 1983, we lived in Antwerp, Belgium. Between 1983 and 1984, we moved back to Nairobi, Kenya. Between 1984 and 1987, I was back in Belgium. Between 1987 and 1988, Ya kid K lived in Chicago, Illinois. In 1988, I went back to Belgium and in 1989, the whole Technotronic "thing" took off. Ya Kid K moved to London, England in 1990 but spent most of the time on the road across Europe and the U.S.A. I had my first baby at the end of that year. I went to Belgium to deliver so that I could be close to my family and mostly to my Mama. Then I went back to London. Toward the end of 1991 I pretty much moved to the States. First New York city (Manhattan), then to Virginia. Then back to New York State (Nyack). Then I moved into Dick Scott's place in Englewood, New Jersey in 1993. I moved to an apartment in the North East Bronx in 1994. In 1995 or 1996, I moved to Ossining, New York. After that, my life became more chaotic than ever before and I ended up in the Vanderveer estate of Brooklyn, New York. I eventually went to my father who had moved to Washington DC and from there I went back to Belgium to record a Technotronic single called "The Mariachi". In late 2000, I went to Dallas, Texas and stayed there until 2004. From 2004 until 2006, I was back in Antwerp, Belgium. In 2006, I moved to Nigeria with my Nigerian husband whom I'd met back in Brooklyn during the 1990's. So, I have been living in Nigeria since 2006. I have a total of 6 children, even though I gave birth 5 times. All 6 children were baked and brewed inside of me. Can you do the math? I'll tell you what it is. I have a set of twins. They are NOT identical. ... anyways, that is beside the point. I think I've given you too much to read so far, so I'll stop. I think it's funny that you say that I sound African because Africans think I sound American. My first language is French. My second language in Dutch or Flemish (same language - different accents) and English is a bonus tongue that most Flemish people master anyway."
That girl Manuela kamosi was so cute. At first i thought he was a boy and i was attracted to him. I have found out she's a girl am still attracted to her. Am in love with her. the one singing in the video on arsenio's show

I haven't seen anyone dance like Ya Kid K. I fell in love with her. So cute. Superstars that ruled the 90's.

Hey, before the 90's Boney M was huge, Abba, Telephone, Kraftwerk, a literal ton of UK groups, etc.....wish Techtronic would release a big new album!
SPIN THAT WHEEL... I LOVE THAT THEME SO MUCH
I think Technotronic deserves a proper well documented documentary, they opened the 90s Eurodance!!!!

GET UP AND PUMP UP THE JAM AUDIO I LOVE THOSE THEMES
Ya Kid K must have been 16 or 17 when she did Pump up the Jam in 89 . She only 52 today
Amazing story really
My mind was blown at 5:12. She wasn’t a lesbian!??
You can’t judge a book by its cover.
I also thought she was gay.
But I've always thought (as a heterosexual man) she was pretty attractive in a cute "Tom Boy" type of way.
1988 acid life , 1989 the pro's 24 and Technotronic
they have an accent but they sing perfect US english.. how??
happens a lot. british singers often sound american. the odd thing is she specifically sounds like she might be from new york in some of the songs.

androgyny is often attractive. I agree though, she's cute and has great energy.

Why would you not put that gorgeous girl in the light, from the beginning..
