    I'm always amazed when I see watercolors like this. When I think watercolor, I always think soft edges, blurred colors, more abstract work. But You can always do semi-realistic stuff with lots of detail like this! So cool!

    I used to see watercolour as something only children painted with, but this changes everything. That was beautiful. Thank you so much for posting!

    • @JohnSalmon
      @JohnSalmon  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Nina Gabrielsen . You may not know it but watercolour is the most difficult of the art mediums to master. Mistakes cannot be hidden. Watercolour is popular for children because there are no nasty chemicals to worry about although many of the paints can be toxic.

    I have just started doing some water coloring and found your video so easy to understand. I, like many folks, learn by watching and doing, rather than reading. I have a feeling I will be watching this a few more times while trying my version of a woodland scene. Thank-you very much for sharing your talents in a video that needs no speaking.

    Thankyou Philip. I use Winsor and Newtons Permanent sap green but never on its own. I modify it with the other colours in my palette. I use a limited palette of Quinacridone Gold, Burnt umber, Burnt Sienna, sepia, sap green, cobalt and Ultramarine Blue. My darkest dark would be a mix of sepia and ultramarine. Hope that helps. Sap green is far too strident on it's own. A little experimentation will help and don't worry about painting too dark. It will always get lighter as it dries.

    @onceuponthecross I use a limited palette of Quinacridone Gold, Burnt umber, sepia, sap green, cobalt and Ultramarine Blue. All Winsor and Newton. I used to use Raw Sienna but it started to get frothy (manufacturing problem) so switched to Quin Gold which is better in my opinion. The greens I use are from Sap green which is my base, then modifed with either Quin gold, sepia, Ultramarine blue or cobalt blue in various combinations. Hope that helps.
