My great Uncle served US Army in Burma., anti air gun protecting ops on Burma Road..he was wounded in combat and I worked with him as a machinist for many years. he never told war stories. Never mentioned it. What I know my great grandma told me, as he slept with a cocked n locked .45 on his chest every night for years and was never quite sane after coming home.
Big Bill: Could be, could also be it's the reason you are alive. I prefer to believe what the people who were there say. I wasn't there since I was born in Dec 1945.
Nobody's the same.Dad was in the Pacific.Lost a Battleship and Carrier.I had to pry it out of him and force him to go to reunions. He thanked me for doing it.He said it made a huge difference to be back with guys who.....Understood.
min 1.38: very interesting, seldom seen scene of a Mistel array in flight. Seems to me composed by a Ju88 and a Fw 190. Very late in the war, end of 1944, beginning of 1945, maybe targeted to destry one of the few bridges over the Rhine ?
Not once have I ever heard of that "pig-a-back" technique (1:30) being used by the Germans. I am amazed that they thought of and then actually implemented that configuration. Obviously that would work only under conditions of "complete surprise." Under any other conditions, it becomes the easiest of all targets.
Correct me if I'm wrong but a lot of the footage of the 'Gloster Meteor' jet fighter ;looks a lot like the Gloster 'Whittle' (E28/39). The meteor had a rounded nose 7 2 engines, the E28/39 had a flat nose (engine intake). ??????
I noted that they referred the landing craft as LCM and LCVP as they should. Seaming that this film was made during the war it blows that "Higgnes boats" crap out of the water.

My dad was in the CBI also, building the pipelines along the road as they built it.
If you had Jap ninjas sneaking around at night trying to kill you you'd probably be a little paranoid too. 😂
I greatly appreciate these Combat Bulletin film reels. Thank you for your efforts. A good look into the details of WWII combat.
Some of the best WWII footage out there. Thanks.
A true history lesson every one:thanks for posting

All out total war scenes! Awesome.
The Chaplin's face at 16:05 says it all.
The Marines placing the demo charge on the block house sure had a short fuse. Hope they survived.
It looks like those boys were wasted. Damn!
The film was cut and the explosion shown. The timer usually is set at 2 minutes.
The jet aircraft shown is not a Meteor! It's the Gloster Whittle test aircraft.

The Go Pro cameras back then must have been hella heavy sitting up on your helmet as a 5kilo pigeon!😅😅😅

then did England have two jets by the end of the war?
You are correct
@@stephenodell4280 The E28 was a prototype only. Only two built.
2:18 guy was bailing out?
Those guys at 25:07 are too close when the charge exploded, probably killed.
I assume they stopped the camera from rolling as they ran away then restarted it when it blew.
@@Pantdino Didn't stop the camera- that was just a cut in the film.
a person jumps out of a plane near the ground at 2.19

Gen Curtis Lemay stated after the Tokyo Fire Bombing "If America lost the war I would be a war criminal".
They did it all to stop the war in its tracks and save lives on both sides.
In your face Combat Bulletin No. 47!!
Who are the good guys in this movie?
America!
So most resistance on the western front is by small artillery bombardments and afew planes
Understand these are meant for propaganda purposes during wartime..lots of BS in these.
@@garyroberts1552 oh yeah. I forgot
Well it is true that the Luftwaffe was pretty much “ vernichtet “ by then.
You strafe the planes with the bravery of being out of trains.
Give em hell boys
You can bet your ass shang ri la was used once and only once!
Like how they staged the Shangri-la segment.
