Definitely an upgrade, but I would have used more stones for the fireplace, especially to cover the fire against the rain and to divert the smoke sideways. Also stones store heat (but maybe there were not enough in the area.) And a door of some sort would have been nice to keep the elements out. It seems there would have been enough wood around? Other than that, pretty cool!

I like that you peg and lash your structure together. Using nails that some busk crafters bring along with them just doesn't seem very bush crafty to me. Still fine thing to do, just prefer when all natural materials are used in construction.
