Originally submitted to Newgrounds on June 8th, 2007
This was a music video created as the final project for my animation class in my final year of High School. It was created in a week using only a mouse and a ridiculous amount of hours clocked into playing Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on the SNES. It was previously uploaded by several other TH-cam users without permission, but in the process, the video spread and become something of a meme on sites like Nico Nico Douga, where many tributes and alternate interpretations were made. The song is a remix of a remix - the song of course is "Beware the Forest Mushrooms" by Yoko Shimomura while lyrics originate from "Geno's Forest || ROBOvoice" by Newgrounds user DJ XBrav in 2004. Martin Hagwell, also known as "Marta" created the remix used in this music video in particular. Here it is in HD for you all to enjoy!

Imagine for a second, it's 2007. I'm scrolling Newgrounds for the first time ever, I didn't know what TH-cam was yet. This was the first video I ever found on there that I watched. Six year old me would go to school humming and singing this song even though I didn't know the lyrics very well. Twelve years later and one high school diploma later, I still can't get this video out of my head. Thank you Chris for making a videos that's stuck with me for literally my entire life!
DigitalSlicer basically my story but it was 2010 I was 5 and browsing newgrounds in late December I looked up Mario and it was the top result, when I got into kindergarten the next year I told everybody about this and the earthbound ost (I was made fun of in elementary for being a nerd) but the people who listened to my requests said they enjoyed the songs I showed them, glad to see someone else with an immense amount of nostalgia for this video

it was probably accomplished by splicing takes together. not to downplay the achievement as it's still really impressive even if that is the case (and being able to do that seamlessly requires a lot of skill on its own)

You can actually hear him breathing! It’s very slight because as another commenter says, these parts are spliced/edited for timing and to remove excessive noises like the deep breaths he probably had to take (virtually all music is edited in this way).

Crazy thing is this video is actually from 2007 which is over 13 years ago I think this was just a quality revamp.

The first time I've ever listened to this song (only the beginning part) was in one of the videos by Fleskhjerta in 2008 on TH-cam. I was 10. I ended up watching this animation and listening to this song at the same time. It was so fantastic! Ooooh yeah!
I get to know Newgrounds in 2008. Looking at any Mario fan animations I want to watch, like Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom and Super Mario Bros Z.
In 2013, I didn't watch Newgrounds for so long until I rediscovered the same website seven years later.

I watched this in 2009 (I was 7 at the time) after sneaking onto my parents old ass windows xp desktop. This was a time when shit like Window 7 was an os for rich first class people. Nowadays, everyone got Windows 10 for free.
