Back in 2000, there was a contestant named Walter and he played the Cliffhanger game and when it would play this same song he started to sing it and Bob was impressed with his skills.
He yodeled with the poor doomed mountain climber and fell down with him just the same. A staple that all men should look up to and strive for is That level of awesome❤️🏔🎶
When I was at my college radio station, one night we had free reign to play absolutely anything during a few hours. This song definitely made the playlist.
2:23 “ OK, you can stop here. There’s no way that microwave cost more than 300 bucks. Stop here. Don’t listen to that fat tourist. She doesn’t know how much a microwave cost. STOP!” ~ Peter Griffin
Okay it’s after midnight and I’m having such a crazy flashback. Whenever this music came on during the price is right, I remember distinctly as a very small child being utterly terrified by this music, to the point where I would run out of the room every time it would play. It’s so surreal almost 30 years later hearing this and recalling that nonsensical terror over yodeling lol
You too?!! How insane is it that I finally find someone else whom was mortified by this as a very young child! I was EXACTLY the same way back in the late ‘70s/early ‘80s, and my sadistic older sister never failed to find humor in that. What are the odds???
Wow, the gems you find on YOU TUBE! Never knew the Cliffhangers music was a real Swiss folk melody. How delightful was that?! I loved it. Thank you for sharing.
+carcillian That frightened me when I was four. I still remember crying when the guy fell off the mountain...I really thought the guy got hurt everytime that happened.
Bob Barker: Drew, what is your IQ? Drew Carey: 100 Bob Barker: Is it 100? XXXXXXX Cliffhangers theme starts Mountain climber falls off the top. Bob Barker: What was the right answer? Price tag shows 50 Bob Barker: I'm sorry Drew, thank you for being on the Price Is Right.
All we need now is for Drew Carey and the contestant to start dancing and having the audience clap along as they wait for Yodely Guy to finish climbing the mountain and on to the next prize.
Peter: Okay you can stop here, there's no way that Microwave costs more than $300 Stop here, don't listen to that fat tourist, she doesn't know how much a Microwave cost, Stop.... (Losing Horns) Huh, we should've gone to Plinko like Cleveland.
Cliffhangers was a bittersweet game for me. I loved hearing the song but that hearing it also meant the mountain climber was moving up a nearing a player loss.
I love to yodel,my mother taught me how to yodel when I was a little girl growing up,everyday I would come home from school and she and I would sit and go through the steps together...and now I can yodel up a storm...and I enjoy Slim Whitman Music and Elton Britt and Patsy Montana too ! Thanks MOM!!
Before "On the Franches Mountains" was used as the mountain climber's theme in the pricing game "Cliff Hangers" on "The Price Is Right", "The Yodeling Song" from the 1937 Disney animated classic, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" was the mountain climber's original theme.
My 96 year old mom played this music and had this album. She is a little old Swiss farm girl and loved when no one was around and she could blast her music.
Holy water! Even as a child watching the "Cliffhanger" game on "The Price is Right", I thought that yodel was by Rockapella from "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego". Now I know it's NOT Rockapella, it's from the Swiss Alps. God bless Beethoven and Mozart!
I always wondered if this was a real song, since I was hearing them use this on The Price Is Right during the Mountain Climber game while the climber goes up the mountain all these years. Thank you for this!
awesome! I been wanting to hear the full song for some time now. Thanks for posting... but I swear, that song can get stuck in your head for a long freakin time.
This is great, years ago I recorded the Price is Right part and made it my ringtone on the phone to get reactions from people, too bad modern phones don't let you do that as nobody would ever have to buy a ringtone again.
I have this album & I listen to it all the time, Swiss mountain music has the richest melody & sounds like no other kind of music, it has a distinctive sound all it's own. Very few Swiss singers can yodel & the ones that can are the best yodelers in the world. Every track on the LP is great & interesting. Album was recorded in the '60's & says it's a lost art, I wonder how many Swiss musicians are keeping this art form alive today. I live in the UK, I must go to Switzerland & find out.
Do you remember if there was a playing of Cliff Hangers where the Contestant gets the Price of the first 2 Small Prizes exactly right but still loses on the last Small Prize?
@NYBornJM Do you remember 'tic-tac-dough'? the dragon that woud pop on-screen used to scare me so bad i would hide in the kitchen when my ma would watch it. i though i was the only one who was traumatised by a gameshow as a child....
I never liked that dragon on Tic-Tac-Dough either. Whenever someone would be watching it on TV, I would go to another room and stay there until the show was over.
"ohhh--he's at 20....21....stop!.....22...23.....ohhhh stop!!!...24......oh he's at 25!!!!! (climber goes over edge--defeat horns sound)...ohhhh I'm so sorry!! Thanks for joining us on the Price is Right!!"
@WINGGULLSEAGULL I couldn't agree more! I have this LP, too but no turntable. I'm seriously considering getting one just to listen to this and a few other yodel albums I have. I miss it so much!
To deadrayman walking I have the yodeling as a ringtone as well. A buddy from work sent me the ringtone along with other price is right sound effects. He even made me a cd of music from the price is right and the yodeling is on there and on mini cd he put the dell version like what was heard in this video.
This song is a must for homes with the stair chair stair climber machines.
This is an under-appreciated comment.
🤣😂😂😂😂😂🤣
Now I'll have to visit my uncle just to set that up.
You win the internet today!!!! 😂🎉
Yo thats absolutely brilliant
The only game on the Price is Right where I rooted for them to lose. I loved the yodelling and I loved when he fell off the cliff.
Omg lol !
Lol you monster
What a madman
It was legit the funniest thing, right up there with getting a Whammy on Press Your Luck.
🙏🏽 childhood nostalgia
Back in 2000, there was a contestant named Walter and he played the Cliffhanger game and when it would play this same song he started to sing it and Bob was impressed with his skills.
if i recall, he lost
@RedStrikerBeetleborg You're correct. He did lose, but it was fun to watch, though.
He yodeled with the poor doomed mountain climber and fell down with him just the same. A staple that all men should look up to and strive for is That level of awesome❤️🏔🎶
Rest in Peace Bob Barker. You were an American Treasure and the Yodely Guy will live on forever.
RIP Bob Barker for making our sick days the best
I remember watching The Price Is Right with my grandma and when they'd do this game, she'd want the mountain climber to fall!
When I was at my college radio station, one night we had free reign to play absolutely anything during a few hours.
This song definitely made the playlist.
This is glorious.
Excellent choice!
Proud of you.
Lol. I’m gonna take this to Commerce
University
Yet further proof that the Price Is Right producers were severely badass.
RIP Bob Barker
1923-2023
🕯
I'd sing this if I were ever on American idol
you'd have my vote
And you can be dressed up as the mountain climber as well.
Oh hell yeah! I’d vote for you too!
“You’re going to Hollywood dawg.”
Dude, do it, and get the audience clapping along!
2:23 “ OK, you can stop here. There’s no way that microwave cost more than 300 bucks. Stop here. Don’t listen to that fat tourist. She doesn’t know how much a microwave cost. STOP!”
~ Peter Griffin
Should've gone to Plinko with Cleveland
My grandparents used to play this album over and over when I was a kid. Cannot believe I found here. Brings back so many memories.
Bruv probably now old enough to tell it to their children
The LP covers screams "Riiiiicolaaaaa!"
I really respect yodeling. It takes talent and is fun to listen to!
Its so bizarre, this seems to be a huge common occurrence across every single comment section relating to the yodeler
Ha same this is the music that plays when you enter the realms of hell
You too?!! How insane is it that I finally find someone else whom was mortified by this as a very young child! I was EXACTLY the same way back in the late ‘70s/early ‘80s, and my sadistic older sister never failed to find humor in that. What are the odds???
I was the same way! 😂 I used to run into my and my brother's room the moment this music dropped.
It always made me uneasy...
Wow, the gems you find on YOU TUBE!
Never knew the Cliffhangers music was a real Swiss folk melody. How delightful was that?!
I loved it. Thank you for sharing.
this is a real song and it's a polka?! My life is now complete.
This will be a much better trip than we had with that Price Is Right yodeler.
Lmao, as a kid I would worry about the little plastic man falling...nooooo!!!
carcillian Good. I'm not the only one :)
+carcillian I was opposite you. All I wanted to do is make the dude fall.
+carcillian I used to get scared and had nightmares about that.
+carcillian That frightened me when I was four. I still remember crying when the guy fell off the mountain...I really thought the guy got hurt everytime that happened.
Bahah. This is precious.
You know, this song has always had a place in my heart, but to hear it in it's full context... it's just amazing. Thanks for posting.
Are you still here with us?
I see that album cover and all I think is "REEEEEE-Cooooooh-laaaaahhhh!!!!!"
Me and the boys commiting a major Austrian blunder
0:52- Yodely Guy, on your way.
Did not kick into yodeling until :53 and then I recognized the Climber's song! Loves it!
oh hey there new ringtone. youre gonna make a lot of quiet awkward situations great!
The yodeling makes a bangin' ringtone. I've had it for over a decade now
I want this played at my funeral
I actually have this as my ring tone lol.
That small tea pitcher is $99 Drew!!!
**starts dancing**
*moves up one*
$100. Who knew a jewel encrusted tea pitcher could be so cheap.
Once you hear the yodeling, it gets stuck in your head FAST.
Bob Barker: Drew, what is your IQ?
Drew Carey: 100
Bob Barker: Is it 100?
XXXXXXX
Cliffhangers theme starts
Mountain climber falls off the top.
Bob Barker: What was the right answer?
Price tag shows 50
Bob Barker: I'm sorry Drew, thank you for being on the Price Is Right.
love this song every time cliff hanger came on since I was 5
All we need now is for Drew Carey and the contestant to start dancing and having the audience clap along as they wait for Yodely Guy to finish climbing the mountain and on to the next prize.
My five year old daughter likes this music. She and I had a great time singing along lol.
I have the original LP and it`s quite fascinating. Good to have at least one track. I`d be happy to hear some more.
I always thought it was hilarious when the Yodely Guy fell off the mountain at the end of Cliff Hangers.
Peter: Okay you can stop here, there's no way that Microwave costs more than $300 Stop here, don't listen to that fat tourist, she doesn't know how much a Microwave cost, Stop....
(Losing Horns)
Huh, we should've gone to Plinko like Cleveland.
Karanšebes Ottoman Victory Song
0:53
Die Infanteristen brauchen Schnaps
Bounced on my boi Joseph II's artillery to this epic OTTOMAN victory march.
Just listening to this gives me a little bit of anxiety
U have no clue . What u a fricken rap fan
Yes it does this is a terrible song I hate it when they played it on price is right
😹
This is great! I have this album but no record player to play it on. It was my fathers and I remember it well.
Cliffhangers was a bittersweet game for me. I loved hearing the song but that hearing it also meant the mountain climber was moving up a nearing a player loss.
This helps surgically remove any other song I get stuck in my head. No joke.
Cliffhangers was the only TPIR game you rooted for the contestants to lose.
Facts. I'd be mad when someone put a reasonable bid in on a toaster.
"FALL! FALL! FALL! FALL! FALL! FALL! FALL! FALL!"
While in Germany in the late 60's I purchased this album that is shown. I think the music is the greatest and I still have the album to this day.
Hey you can stop now their is no way in hell that microwave cost more then $300.00
this entire weekend, i've been randomly singing/yodelling this. my mother started to catch on. :-)
This is perhaps the most badass thing i've heard in a while. Mad props for posting it.
Love the album cover... yodeling... like a boss!
God this takes me back to the 80's for some reason. It was one of those tunes that just stuck in my head over the years....
btw, they also use the instrumental part when giving away trips to Switzerland.
there’s no way that microwave cost more than 300 bucks
I love to yodel,my mother taught me how to yodel when I was a little girl growing up,everyday I would come home from school and she and I would sit and go through the steps together...and now I can yodel up a storm...and I enjoy Slim Whitman Music and Elton Britt and Patsy Montana too ! Thanks MOM!!
I've got that album! Great conversation piece, and I paid all of $5.99 for it.
Wanna sell it?
Before "On the Franches Mountains" was used as the mountain climber's theme in the pricing game "Cliff Hangers" on "The Price Is Right", "The Yodeling Song" from the 1937 Disney animated classic,
"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" was the mountain climber's
original theme.
I've waited since I was a kid in the 1970's to hear this. Thank you.
My 96 year old mom played this music and had this album. She is a little old Swiss farm girl and loved when no one was around and she could blast her music.
Hearing this when I was a little kid 😂 it’s stuck with me forever
Same 😂
"You can stop here! There's no way that microwave oven is over 300 bucks!"
"We should have gone to Plinko, like Cleveland!"
Can't watch this without that image of the climber in my head...
That hook, survives time! I love the yodeling!!!

I never knew I was missing this song in my life. Till I found it here on TH-cam. Thank you! xD
Thanks for uploading, brings back childhood memories!
I loved hearing this on The Price Is Right with the Mountain Man having only 25 Notches to climb, anything over and he is falling over.
awesome! I been wanting to hear the full song for some time now. Thanks for posting... but I swear, that song can get stuck in your head for a long freakin time.
0:53 the price is right yodel from cliffhangers
This is great, years ago I recorded the Price is Right part and made it my ringtone on the phone to get reactions from people, too bad modern phones don't let you do that as nobody would ever have to buy a ringtone again.
when the yodeling starts, it taps into a different part of your brain. really weird feeling.
I doubt this wonderful musician thought his song would be associated with literal high anxiety.
I actually have this album ! I first heard it at the old Albertson Public Library in Orlando, FLA
NO WHAMMYS NO WHAMMYS! Oh wait, wrong game
"Hee hee heeee, this oughta do it!"
Should play this in the line queue for the Matterhorn
"There goes Fritz!"
because for some reason this song is hilarious
the guy on the album looks like John Cleese!
(one of the stars of Monty Python's Flying Circus)
Hahah! He totally does!
Your so right I was thinking the same thing!!
and Rat Race.
We KNOW who John is doofus.
This song gets me so hype!!! 😅😅😅
I loved this song since the early 1980s. I was kid about to go to summer school.
Just played this at work over the radio (work in a grain elevator) perfect 👌
Boss didn't care for it... 😂
A grain elevator work nearby to hear yodeling on the radio, and don't mind the Boss. Farmer doesn't know TPIR.
"Go Yodely Guy."
Thank you so much for posting this...a decade ago, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone gangsta till the climber starts to climb the mountain
Happy Thanksgiving! Today is the first time I've ever searched this song on TH-cam!
I've always wanted to hear this! Many thanks.
Man, this brings back memories! Not of yodeling, but the Price is Right!✌😎
Do you remember if there was a playing of Cliff Hangers where the Contestant gets the Price of the first 2 Small Prizes exactly right but still loses on the last Small Prize?
The bid is $350 on a watch that costs $25. Sends Yodley Guy off the cliff.
35 years ago I'd come running to the TV so singing this.
My absolute favorite price is right game
oooh hellll yea! ive been looping this for about an hour and a half now and still going strong! Greateast composition.......... ever!
All I picture is patrick climbing lightbulbs when I hear this song.🤣
"ohhh--he's at 20....21....stop!.....22...23.....ohhhh stop!!!...24......oh he's at 25!!!!! (climber goes over edge--defeat horns sound)...ohhhh I'm so sorry!! Thanks for joining us on the Price is Right!!"
Guessing $35 on $20 hair dryer with 10 steps left
REST IN PEACE, Bob
My absolute new favorite song of all time!
Thank you for sharing. Nice to hear the way it was intended.
@WINGGULLSEAGULL I couldn't agree more! I have this LP, too but no turntable. I'm seriously considering getting one just to listen to this and a few other yodel albums I have. I miss it so much!
...and there goes Janice, storming off the stage, to spend the rest of the show crying in her dressing room.
RIP Bob Barker💙🕊💯
Legendary.
Happy to know this is a real song and not just one made for the show.
This makes the best ringtone!!!!
To deadrayman walking I have the yodeling as a ringtone as well. A buddy from work sent me the ringtone along with other price is right sound effects. He even made me a cd of music from the price is right and the yodeling is on there and on mini cd he put the dell version like what was heard in this video.
