It's because they change broadcasting studio in later seasons. They broadcast in Animax in the earlier seasons but change to TXN stations in later seasons. TXN stations (TV Tokyo, TV Osaka) at the time are infamous of their strict censorship standards.
So glad I finally remembered the name of this anime after 5 years of trying to figure it out. Well, that was a nice trip down memory lane.
