After you get in maintenance mode, you can press 7-6-4 then the "Black" start button to get to a deep nozzle clean/purge process. This helped me get back colors that were not printing.
Abe, following your instructions on my machine, when I get to the purge cycle it will not accept 0124 or 124 and wont let me proceed. do you have a solution for me/ thx Paul, Toronto Canada
Is there a way to override the "Not enough ink" warning and print anyway? (The cartridge is full of ink, so much that it got ink everywhere when I pulled it out, and I can see the ink in the cartridge, there's plenty...)
If you notice , there is a little electronic chip on each cartridge. That electronic chip has a counter , it counts the number of pages printed by each cartridge , so if you refill the cartridge, until you reset the chip it will not work . There is little device you can buy online ( example Ebay =》 Search for brother printer model number ink cartridge reset device) . When you have the device you can reset the original brother ink cartridge. Please note , this device 0nly works on expensive brother original counter , and it does not work on cheap after market cartridges and they should be replaced. I hope your question is answered .
Dear Master. Help. I did the head cleaning as you showed, it worked. Black has started. Works. After two days, I want to print something, code 48 is shown. There is no jam, but the head is on the right side and I do not want to move from the machine or manually for China. When I pushed with a syringe, I didn't know that the head should go out and I think I flooded everything under the plastic. I can't remove the plastics from above, something is holding it on the left side. I managed to do a cleaning reset, but the printer now turns on for a moment after connecting to the power supply and goes off. Do something Master.
Hi thank you for your question. Yes these codes will be in brother service manuals , but companies do not let thier service manuals to be published externally. I think you can test your luck and search on the web for the service manuals of the models you are after , sometimes old employees of companies let the service manuals out. Good luck :-)
Hi , I have not tried that model , but I believe the procedure used for most brother machines are common or similar. If you can get the printer in the maintenance screen then easily you can find jam reset set up . :-)
after seeing error 46, I go into maintenance mode , and I cannot enter code 80 in maintenance function? the "8" does not work, "8" does not register ..........do you have a solution? ? Thanks
It appears, your printer keyboard is not functioning and no 8 key is not working . In this model you need be able to enter the code to enter maintenance mode . The keyboard may need to be pulled out to clean the board touches ... but try the easy step as follow and it may solve the problem : 1- turn off the printer power , and push the number 8 key several times ( to clear its touch connection ) . If you could spray some ISp alchohole( white medical alcohol on the keyboard while you are playing with the keyboard and then let couple hours ro vaporize and play with keys of keyborad) Then when turn on the printer and push number 8 key few times and see if it is working , then you can restart the process . Hope this will help.

Hello, I have a problem with the Brother mfc-j475dw, the printer works perfectly, but at the end of a HEAD LOCKED, when it restarts, it asks me to Install ink cart included for initial configuration. It requires yes or yes, the start cartridges and from there it does not come out. The printer is more than 3 years old and the cartridges that came at the beginning, as usual, I don't have them since it has a continuous ink system. Does this have a solution?
Hi , from your message I am not sure if you are using continuous ink system or you are using original cartridges from brother ? However , if you have the original cartridges that come with printer , you need to refill them , then you need to reset the cartridges chips ( on top of cartridges) then put them back and confirm ( yes) . Reseting needs littel inexpensive device available online like ebay ( you can search and find) If you are using continuous ink system that is non standard and need to check with the ink supplier. However this machine also has an ink disposing counter that also can be reset . This process explained in this video. I hope this helps. Cgeerd
@@coutospartano6627 I believe problem is with the continuous ink system . The electronic chip they use is not able to e reset. If you still have empty original cartridges , fill them with ink from the the cartridge nozzle , then use the chip rest device ( cost around $12 ) and rest their chip . There are lots of tutorials about that . If you need I can do a video , but I belive this is the best solution. Hi , it does not seem the problem is with your printer itself , there is a problem with spooling. That is when your computer sends to the printer and the document is being processed and printed. Please check your computer and connection , if could not find any issues there , you need to uninstall the printer driver and reinstall a fresh ( latest copy) from Brother web site and follow the instructions very clearly. Please make sure you only download the Driver software from Brother site to avoid malwares and fishing viruses from parallel sits. I hope this will solve the problem , oh also , please do not forget to unplug your printer for more than a minute and replug it before all these and see if problem goes away ( this will allow printer to refresh its memory) , and then check the printing queue in your computer and clear/ cancel any waiting document to allow new documents through spooling . :-)
This 4F error is most likely to do with printer head. There are a few things you can try . 1- Make sure no paper particle is stuck under the printing head after the paper jam . 2 - Ink on the print head is dried out 3 - The head cleaning pad on the side is full or damaged. Print heads are very sensitive, and they should not be touched directly. However, try the following: 1- Visually check to make sure no paper is stuck under print head ( remove carefully) 2- use a wet tissue ( repeat ) move the print head to the middle and without moving the head against tissue leave the tissue under the print head for few minute allow the dry inke be absorbed to the tissue ( remove it carefully) . 3- with a tissue clean the ( pushing gently/ no robbing) ink absorbent pad on the other side of the rails. After on or all of these actions, set the printer to do its own head cleaning process automatically. That should fix the problem .

This 4F error is most likely to do with printer head. There are a few things you can try .
1- Make sure no paper particle is stuck under the printing head after the paper jam .
2 - Ink on the print head is dried out
3 - The head cleaning pad on the side is full or damaged.
Print heads are very sensitive, and they should not be touched directly. However, try the following:
1- Visually check to make sure no paper is stuck under print head ( remove carefully)
2- use a wet tissue ( repeat ) move the print head to the middle and without moving the head against tissue leave the tissue under the print head for few minute allow the dry inke be absorbed to the tissue ( remove it carefully) .
