- I am delighted to share my maddest arrangement yet! With a few weeks of practice, recording and editing, and a very complicated click track... here is my arrangement of Holst's Jupiter from the Planets for bassoon ensemble.
I am very grateful to my wonderful contrabassoon professor, Martin Field, from the Royal Opera House for recording the contra part for me - thank you Martin!

My jaw dropped from the first second. I was NOT expecting that tempo from the beginning. I loved every second of it!

Bassooner or later, all music will sound like this. I think it does on Jupiter because of the larger force of gravity there. Because, science!

when see a video of a Bassoon ensemble i think i love the bassoon but this is going to sound muddy because of the bassoons harmonics all those notes make it so muddy but wow i came to this not thinking i wasn't going to be able to hear each individual bassoon but i can and its so clear to! Bravo!!!!

Just wonderful, really. A fantastic display of this instrument's range and capabilities. The arrangement makes use of all ranges of the bassoon and showcases it's unique tone in each register, then uses that to great effect. I can't give enough praise to the musicianship and dedication to this arrangement, well done.

Bravo pour cette mise en place et les « couleurs » qui sont ici exposées. Beaux détachés et précision des attaques c’ est un travail d’ orfèvre. C’ est ce que l’ on dit en France pour un travail exécuté avec précision et délicatesse.

I like to think that at 5:30, Mr.Mayes on the bottom left is playing a gigantic bassoon, assisted by two other Mr.Mayes-s.
