Aew was literally what got me back into keeping up with wrestling consistently and boy did wwe find a way to take advantage of that opportunity and reclaim previous viewers lol
I used to be excited when AEW would air on Wednesday 3 to 5 years ago because of how hot the product was when guys like Cody used to be around. I even tuned into Collision when it had CM Punk, Bullet Club Gold but then when Punk got let go, that’s when the hype fully died down for me. The only guys I like looking at from time to time now is Ospreay, Omega and Switchblade.
Same. I used to watch dynamite, rampage, and collision but it just ain't what it used to be. Only watch dynamite now and even then sometimes it feels like a chore
Aew at one point or another had arn Anderson, Jake Roberts, Tully Blanchard, mark henry, big show, Cody Rhodes, cm punk, Jim Ross and others and all you ever hear is the only opinion that matters is Dave meltzer. They care about his stars and everyone there works the style he likes.
AEW still has Jake Roberts , Paul Wight (Big show) and Jim Ross. i don't think Tony only listens to Dave Meltzer. i doubt its THAT extreme. and i've been watching the shows every week.
@leorelic no one listens to the legends to improve. The AEW guys think all their shit isn't bad when in reality 99.9% of it is horrible and they couldn't get over in a hs gym or a bar with 10 people. They all worry about some dbag and his star ratings instead of TV ratings and the company actually making real money and having long term storytelling instead of a weekly one off matches that have no build and no one cares about.
There have been múltiple interviews with AEW wrestlers naming some of the people You listed Arn Anderson and Mark Henry have said in names like Hobbs,MJF,Acclaimed,Swerve, Jay White, Statlander,Toni Storm, Thunder Rosa and more as people that have approached and ask for advice every week Heck Sting said he spent hours talking and giving advice to Darby. You are making a big mistake generalizing the entire roster, just because The Elite guys don't lisent to veteranos that dosent mean the entire roster is the same
@@VetGoalie76 idk about 99.9% of bad , i think most of them do good stuff , the only thing i didn't really like was the Heel Elite EVP thing. i don't think AEW wrestlers of today , especially today give a flying fuck about stars and ratings , guys like MVP don't care about that , guys like MJF don't care about that , even Kenny Omega in his heyday didn't care about that he simply kept the meme going when it came to BTE shows. the company is making money , its not "not about Business" like Punk said it was , it is in fact about business but the only issue is TV Ratings in which they could remedy by having a brand split and doing more long term storytelling than we have on both shows for a split roster.
Dave is missing Bully's point when he said that Tony maybe hearing Moxley but he's not LISTENING to him. We all know by now that to get Tony to LISTEN to anything, it has to be posted X or done in an interview like the one that Mox did OR in the Dirt Sheets. ALSO, keep in mind that THIS is the company that doesn't take advice from veterans.
And what would listing to Moxley accomplish buddy hasn't been knocking them out of park lately people need to accept that AEW is Tony's plaything nobody elses
@@tman1782 listening to mox could help Tony keep his show from continuing to decline in the ways it is. You may not enjoy his performance or he may not be getting booked well or whatever the case may be but that doesn’t mean he can’t give perspective as someone who has been in the game for so long and go look we need to shake things up or it’s done. You don’t have to perform well to want the business to do well
This is the most honest convo. Bully did a great job not saying everything he knows but giving just enough for everyone to gain an insight to dysfunction.
Gotta disagree. Moxley publicly criticising AEW doesn't hurt them. It's guys like Jericho, Matt Hardy, Meltzer, Ricochet, Osprey and Tony Khan himself circling the wagons every time their vanity project is criticised that's hurt their reputation. It's about AEW as a company and their fans refusing to acknowledge any fault and writing their critics off as 'WWE shills'. A lot of fans aren't looking for an alternative to WWE, they just want to watch a good wrestling show. They don't care about WWE's 'monopoly' and they aren't just going blindly support any promoter that tries to challenge them. These fans will happily include AEW in their viewing habits if given a reason.
You have to remember what time period AEW started. AEW was started in a time where we needed an alternative and even to this day wrestling fan still need an alternative. We were looking for an alternative that’s how we found the ring of honors, the PWGs, the new Japan. We were tired of brawl and panty, matches, pigpen matches, Special guest, general managers, and all that other bullshit we just wanted to watch wrestling. Wrestling with stories that actually made sense. wrestlers that fought each other because they wanted to be the best. Majority of the time that’s what AEW does. Majority of their storylines make sense for a professional wrestling show. That is my opinion.🤷🏾♂️
@@hollaatquad3511 I get what AEW’s appeal was and for some still is. And please know that what I’m about to say isn’t me making assumptions about you. At the time AEW was created a large portion of wrestling fans, including myself, had stopped watching WWE regularly. I would mostly just listen to reviews and podcasts since 2017, arguably the year that embodied Vince’s worst booking instincts. I got into NJPW, even went to see them when they toured Australia. I was keen to give AEW a chance. Early on I noticed that most of the wrestlers they had plucked from the indies weren’t ready for live television, having no camera awareness. A lot of high risk moves that made no sense in the context of the match and convoluted spots that made it impossible to suspend my disbelief. Storylines were rushed. Wrestlers resorted to backstage attacks well before a feud had that kind of heat. Singles wrestlers formed unnecessary tag teams and random assortments of wrestlers with nothing in common started factions. So I tuned out. I kept an eye on what they were doing just like with WWE but didn’t watch regularly. Once Vince was gone I took more of an interest in WWE and saw real improvements. There’s still plenty of work ahead for them but a key difference between WWE and their competitors since WCW closed is that their fans will call them out when they’re screwing up. Just this year alone, WWE fans were able to change the main event at WrestleMania because they don’t just support WWE in every decision they make. Mainstream wrestling fans have always voiced their displeasure, they aren’t loyalists. Most of them are open to watching outside promotions but like to be principled. If AEW is doing a bad job, they get called out the same as WWE does. The difference being, WWE are less antagonistic with their critics. The fans that just wanted an alternative tend to circle the wagons, effectively telling anyone who sees room for improvement, their opinions are irrelevant and they’re unwelcome in the fandom. AEW’s viewership is dwindling, their attendance lowering and things that used to get fans excited aren’t doing it anymore. They need to get that mainstream fan back. I’m not saying they do that by imitating WWE but take the negative feedback seriously and make an effort to improve. That’s just my opinion ✌🏻
LISTENING TO BULLY IS LIKE LISTENING TO A WWE MARK ... A GUY WHO HAS HIS OPINIONS ON WRESTLING BUT THAT DOES NOT MAKE THE END ALL TO BE ALL. THERE ARE MANY ROADS THAT LEAD TO ROME
I loved AEW when they first came around. The product was awesome. The last 1.5 years has been dreadful storyline wise. Sure they have had a few but overall its been bad. I know im going to get hate but I think the Bucks egos and TK living and dying by DM's opinion is driving the product down.
@@92SynysterShadowsin what world? lol the best storylines they had were Storm/May Swerve/Page. And once those ended so did the steam. the undisputed kingdom storyline ended up nowhere, the elite/tony khan storyline went nowhere, nothing Mercedes has done has clicked. Everything the Don Calis family does ends up going nowhere, it’s like every single time there’s something to get excited about 3-6 weeks later all hype and interest dies with no memorable climax.
"Jon Moxley" isn't a brand anybody but AEW diehards and indie wrestling enthusiasts cares about. "Dean Ambrose" was for a while, years ago. Feels like a lifetime ago, at this point. People who only paid attention to "Dean Ambrose", wouldn't even recognise him as "Jon Moxley". For almost six years, it made no real difference for the attendances and ratings whether Jonathan Good was on the shows or not. Delusions about MJF's "star status" have been shattered similarly, recently.
@@henrygvidonas9573 and yet, if he somehow reappeared as Dean Ambrose...it would be a huge deal. Everything else you said, I 1000% agree with. Not that I actually even disagreed with you.
@JohnKobaRuddy, more people know Dean Ambrose and The Shield than they know AEW, atleast in the Middle East, Australia and South Asia. Nobody knows AEW in the Middle East and South Asia. But everyone knows about The Shield. He wasn't just in a stable, he was 1/3 of the most popular stable of 2010s decade. Also, in between 2014 to 2019, he wrestled the most number of matches for WWE, main-evented the most number of shows(RAW, Smackdown and House Shows) for WWE from 2014-17, main-evented the third most number of PPV in WWE inbetween 2014 to 2019, only below Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.
16:50 remember when Punk asked Tony to deal with certain wrestlers and he said what do you want me to do about it? Tony needs to be called out in front of the world he doesn't make changes if you come to him in private
This is a reflection of the issue AEW is having now. When Adam Cole, Kenny Omega, and Bryan Danielson were out, they had to scramble to build their card.
That's why WWE ID doing the program thing Do you want to work with someone who worked in the ring at AEW. I wouldn't work with someone like that AEW isn't safe from what I see
I just find it incredible that Kyle Fletcher got ruined by Tony. Before shaving his hair off , Kyle literally looked like a superhero straight out Tekken video game. He had a marketable look . And now they had him shave off his hair and wear trunks which makes him look like a discount version of The Miz . 😂 There was no need to turn him heel at all.
As someone who watched AEW casually didn't know who Kyle Fletcher was until he fought MJF, when he was "US Champion". Didn't know who Fletcher was but he won me over as a babyface with his promo about being and Australian and how he sees America. Making him heel kinda threw away all that good work for me. Was hoping for a babyface Fletcher push but it never happened and I started tuning out more.
@@bobby_the_ps2 Exactly . It would have been better if he turned on Don Callis and then perhaps he and Ospresy could hsve feuded with Callis , Cage and Archer
@prestonfeiler6376 no, their problem is the majority of their talent that can actually put on a decent match is all ex-WWE. Their homegrowns are all trash now, save for 2 or 3.
They had an interview with TK not too long ago. It was a car crash, at one point Tony spent about half an hour talking absolute jibberish and still didn’t answer the question he was asked
Bubba when TK personally went out of his way to go after JDfromNY who always called it down the middle AEW is just legit awful this past year.. Switching back and fourth from NXT an AEW was crazy the fans in attendance truly was shocking .. Didn't matter what was happening the crowd was dead meanwhile NXT 2300 arena was going INSANE
@@ratpacknyc6910The main event for NXT was 5 women tag match with wrestlers who haven't been on the main roster without any legends or extreme stuff going on. It still beat AEW's main event in the ratings and the crowd was way louder
First off I would like to congratulate all members on “Busted Open”!!! So much great information and wrestling knowledge!! Giving credit to the guests that show up. I have grown up as a kid watching all different wrestling companies. Bully Ray..Tommy Dreamer… Mark Henry… Dave Legreka…!!! Thanks to all!! Love this podcast!! 😊🎉 I agree with Bully Ray about AEW!!
Now AEW don't care about the ratings? Yeah because right now they don't know how to get the ratings back up. Everything they have shifted to, booking ideology wise, has caused these ratings to keep dropping. So to me, they only are saying that because everything they are doing is not clicking to get the ratings up. And it starts with Tony. Even CM punk said that when he was in charge of Collision he would look at the ratings to see what can we do the following week to draw more eyes to the show. And when punk was heading Collision for that month and a half last summer, that was the best booked formatted aew wrestling show on tv. Solid storylines and angles, not 50 matches, a seriousness and intensity to the show and it had it's best ratings. Since Punk left and Tony through our Punk's booking ideology of the show..the ratings have went down the toilet.
I think most of the creative energy should be put towards the bottom/mid card. Top guys should sort of be able to do it themselves, point them in a direction and let them work. Put Hurt Syndicate at the top and let MVP talk his shit. Then figure out how to get the mid card and bottom better
Agreed. The midcard ,tag team and trio's divisions are completely dead at this point. Hell ,even the AEW title scene is barely alive. Sometimes I forget Moxley is champ.
When Dave said BCC is the best thing AEW has to hypothetically go up against a Bloodline segment, that should tell you all you need to know. Most of what AEW puts on tv is embarrassingly bad. I can’t even watch it anymore, unfortunately. The recent MJF and Adam Cole stuff was the last nail in the coffin for me.
I started watching wrestling a year ago. Still catching up, but AEW pulled me in. Everyone genuinely looked like they were having fun, at first. Lit a fire under me. Got back in shape, a slightly better job, about to quit smoking, and I've brought my boyfriend into the fold. I'm beyond late to the party, but I'm honestly just glad it's still here.
I felt like everyone in old ECW was a star. You had a guy like Shipwreck, who'd be a jobber anywhere else, but he was a champ in ECE, if memory serves correct.
I think it’s great that you crybabies will never acknowledge what people say, but will make the most shallow responses because you can’t take the fact that people can critique your favorite fake fighting company.
@TCVB491 what they say is they don't like it and aew should do what WWE does and if they don't do exactly what WWE does then it's wrong and bad. There's more than one way to do pro wrestling "right". Also the phony "I'm a fan of AEW " which is always followed by something they hate about it. How can you be a fan of something if you hate everything about it and have nothing but negative things to say about it?
That part about the 5 star matches made me realize: Tony isn't even booking a show. The wrestlers make it a 5 star match. He's just putting people together and taking the credit for their work.
I agree with Bully, it came off as if no one was listening to Mox and this was his last resort. Sad Also, The Hurt Syndicate is wayyy more interesting than the BCC. That’s their best option to go up against the Bloodline in a ratings war
Moxley is the epitome of “just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should” remember that reception he got in his debut? Did zero to live up to it. Name on moxley match that’s a must watch
Bully is the only person on the show I want to hear from! Man is a genius of the business! Thank you for your time my friend! Is ANYONE really surprised by any of this. Seems like typical AEW stuff here. Hope they figure it out. Maybe now with someone like Jon talking, someone will listen. This has a bad look if its not in character.
People wouldn't listen to CM Punk when he said everything about AEW. He said TK is a clown, he's been proven as the best circus clown ever to "book" pro wrestling. He said the Dumb Bucks, Adam Page, and Omega were children and they're all immature nerds who believe their own hype and are known shit stirrers because there's not a single dime drawn between all four men. They viewed Punk as a threat to them and not to AEW because Punk is a proven star. I don't believe anything Moxley says because he's just trying to get attention. I'm honestly way more interested in the Hurt Syndicate and I'm betting TK will somehow lose interest and screw up a sure thing with them. TK and his amateur indy company made Punk go running back to WWE which was a place he hated. What does that tell you about AEW? I'd be shocked if AEW makes it another year or two, tops.
It was a work, Jesus. Lol. If anything in real life he actually didn't want Roman in the Shield. He wanted Rollins, Mox & Chris Hero. I'm glad he was wrong 🤷
"AEW was never good" man you are entitled to your own opinion but you cannot tell me Kenny and Hangman's 2 year long story was never good. or Toni Storm's rise to greatness was never good , or MJF , etc etc. but keep going.
Hey Bully, you probably remember I was the guy who beat you up outside Angela's Bar in Frisco after you got belligerent to those star trek fans. Look man, I'm sorry I humiliated you (I'm sorry about running over your foot with my wheelchair). I've given it lots of thought and I'd just like to say I forgive you Brother. Great video guys, you keep doing your things. Peace and Love.
I was so suprised seeing that live and Frustrating part is knowing how many people are missing such a great show and they're doing nothing with their time when they could have been at an AEW show!!
If you wanted to put a group on TV that would compete with WWE, it's the Hurt Syndicate. They all look like stars and feel like giants in AEW. The problem is like people would see that, then in the next segment see Dani Garcia, and be like, what is this crap? So, doesn't really matter.
I mean, the booking at Aew has made it unwatchable. Feel sad for all the talent they actually got. Where would Moxley be in Wwe today? Trying to fix Roman and Seth and then man....the mid card there is Elite now.
The company isn’t receptive to feedback from fans. While the in-ring performances are solid, the real issue lies in the stories they present. For me, the storylines lack the week-to-week intrigue needed to keep viewers engaged. They need to create narratives that draw people in consistently. It’s disappointing to see a company that once offered a real alternative now facing a slow, painful decline.
People often talk about Brawl Out as the beginning of the downhill slide, but I don't think it really think it had anything to do with Punk. Punk was simply the first within the company to say what everyone outside the company could already see. He made the dysfunction real. Once everyone saw it, we couldn't unsee it. I was never a huge fan of The Elite to begin with, but it instantly proved everything Cornette said about them in 2019, though I have to admit Kenny Omega has redeemed himself a little bit with some of his recent comments and has gotten himself off The List for now. Adam Page is an indie goof that has no desire to get better, and despite knowing better, Swerve Strickland chooses to be an indie goof and do stupid phony indie shit. With his decades of experience, Jericho should be the veteran teaching the indie goofs how to draw and be professionals, but instead he has become one of the biggest indie goofs in the company. Short of the Young Bucks, Jericho's segments and matches are the phoniest ones on the show. I used to be a huge Jericho fan (I still have my Y2J shirt), but he repulses me now. I just hope that people like Miro, Ricky Starks, Wardlow, Hobbs, Willow, and a few others are smart enough not to resign. They are much better off in WWE, even if they have to spend a few years in NXT. Ethan Page made the right decision, and I hope these people do as well.
From 2019 until Brawl Out, I was a die hard AEW fan. I can barely stand to watch it anymore. It just pisses me off. They have even managed to make me bored with MJF, and I didn't think that was possible.
All respect to the show BUT nobody is going out of their way to buy a ticket to see Jon Moxley or the “death riders” he’s who we knew he was…end of story
9:45 literally every storyline gets blown through so quick. Like ope there goes that it’s done already, i.e ricochet ospreay as soon as Rico was in. That could have been promoted so differently imo and been such a huge draw
Segment vs segment, no it wouldn't be the BCC. It'd have to be someone like Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, and MJF, the 3 most over guys on the roster right now.
I watched WCW specifically for the undercard. I didn’t care about Hogan or the NWO. When the undercard stopped being interesting, that’s when their business sunk.
I honestly believe it's a work and I'll tell you why here in a minute. Years ago when TNA had a ton of hate from the IWC and biased dirtsheets, I had an idea. That idea was to release false "leaks" to the media and blur the line between whats real and whats fiction. Essentially get the sheets to report false news and ruin the credibility of the sheets. Now that blurred line I was talking about is to some degree what TK is trying to do. Reason being is AEW is in the same situation TNA was back then. Dirtsheets tend to shit on them. Now we got news sites reporting kayfabe news. Honestly I believe what Moxley is saying here is a work. Look at the storyline. It's a rebellious group. They will talk more shit about the company. Idk if Shane is ever going to come into play. But this has to happen "kayfabe" otherwise the story wouldn't work. There has to be a "reason" Shane is here. How it plays out is anyone's guess but I wholeheartedly believe this is a work, not a shoot.
When you run a big organization, you tend to have people who have your ears and attention because you believe they're worth it. Then you have those who you don't pay much attention to because you feel they're not worth it. You have things that interest you and vice versa. I think Tony is no different than that. So, if top management don't care, it'll tend to affect the whole organization. Perhaps that's why Mox brought it up. Because if he didn't, would Tony have cared to listen?
Seeing how far AEW has fallen makes me feel so sad. All that hope and excitement is just gone. I can't even remember the last time they wrote a story that was worth caring about. If I was Tony, that's all I would be thinking about in my free time. How do we make a more compelling television show? The wrestlers will always deliver in the ring but there's never any stakes!
CM Punk is gone and yet this shit is still happening. Punk spoke up about the talent not caring and thinking they are hot shit because they are signed and on tv. They don't have structure and leadership and it's a miracle that they are still on tv. If Mox is trying to save it I respect it.
Punk thought the grass was greener on the other side of the fence, but when he actually got there he realized it was astroturf, and then he finally came to the realization that WWE wasn’t such a bad place after all
@@mrpink99Well, just to be clear, WWE was bad at the time when Punk left back in 2014, but it has become much better since then, especially since Vince left.
@mrpink99 I think if Vince had left earlier, Punk would never have even come to AEW at all. He seemed to have always been the problem. As soon as he left WWE, it seemed like Punk was ready to go right back.
The biggest problem with AEW imo is the elite, we were literally hooked on everything they did before aew started and they ALL completely killed their own hype by turning heel and becoming the last thing we ever wanted as fans, there was a time when grown men were tuning in just to maby to see the DM which was Kenny’s junk and now they can’t sell out a small arena with Osprey Richochet and Okada on the roster, imagine if the OG elite/bulletcub returned, I guarantee that would get us all back watching
Moxley left WWE for the same reason he was disgruntled with Mr McMahon & now it seems he has similar problems with AEW meanwhile WWE is killing it HHH & HBK are to good to contend with & AEW is the lunatics running the asylum.
The only people who can get a compelling story going in aew are the people who are allowed to do it themselves. And even they are being hamstrung. They have 4-5 storylines that can get them back to form if they do them right. But they don't care. The way they're handling the better than you bay bay is a barometer for me. The audience feels insulted at this point, and not by the talent, by the booking.
Yall need to get JDfrmNY to do a segment. Rn he is villian #1 to that locker room. No complains when he sang their praises. Once the product quality goes down & he says what needs to be improve they hate him. Tony has yes men for his action figure company. When he was up against Vince it was easy. But now against HHH who arguably had one of the greatest runs by a brand in history against you his product is showing flaws.
Sadly, I gave up on AEW a couple of years ago. Every time I go back I am immediately reminded why I walked away. That Swerve/Page match was a fucking dumpster fire.
I get the arguments made in the video, but I just can't see how any of this can make them remotely competitive to WWE. The Bloodline story at the moment is, let's just say it, poor in comparison to what it was a year ago. Yet, it's still a massive draw. WWE will always be lightyears ahead, regardless of booking, so I genuinely don't get what AEW can do. That's why I just enjoy it for what it is. It's different, some stories are cool, some aren't, and that's fine by me.
So guys, think we'll eventually get that shield Réunion? 🤣 If Mox is as frustrated as some of these comments point out, and if nothing changes, could mox return to WWE?
I loved AEW at the start, but after some time, what started as small problems that you'd expect a new company to grow out of and overcome, instead became large lingering problems that never went away and only got worse. I'll share just 3 of the things I liked, but that they then ruined. 1) The win-loss record. Implementing this was a fantastic idea. It did make it feel more like a sport and gave us all a feeling as to how "powerful" a wrestler was. Unfortunately, they started to just farm wins for their top guys and have some dedicated jobbers. Yeah, sorry if I'm not excited about the match between the jobber that's 0-34 and the champion that's 27-1. Gee, I wonder who will win that match? There was barely anyone in between those 2 extremes either. 2) Do nothing debuts. AEW was exciting because it promised us that the people we loved from WWE that got neglected there, were going to get a chance to shine and we'd see some other guys we've never heard of get some spotlight shone on them and maybe some new stars would be born. Well, they kind of did this, but eventually that too fell apart. I remember the first new debut they really made a big deal out of was Matt Sydal. Never heard of him before, but man were they making a big deal out of him. They got me excited to see what this guy was all about. Then they just had him wrestle on dark forever and never did anything with him. So what was there ever to get excited about then? They've done this with every new guy and it reached a point where I couldn't get excited about seeing someone new because I knew nothing would happen with them. Miro is probably the biggest example of this. They wasted that guy. 3) Storylines. Just because you're using a win-loss record system, doesn't mean you can neglect storylines. It reached a point where so many storylines were just being dropped, forgotten about, or ignored entirely. SCU vow to capture the tag titles or retire when they lose. Great potential storyline. So naturally they had SCU farm un-televised wins on Dark, then lose to the Bucks, because the Bucks cheated! Bad and rushed payoff, but lots of follow-up potential here. Christopher Daniels "retires" and Frankie Kazarian vows revenge and calls himself the elite hunter. Okay, so they messed up the first part of the story, but maybe they can do something with this elite hunter angle. I like Frankie and they've got a good idea here. Let's see what they got. Well I think Frankie got to beat Brandon Cutler in a match on Dark one time and that was it. Frankie was quickly forgotten about as was his revenge quest. This same kind of thing happened over and over again. Get invested in a guy and a story, then boom, it's either forgotten about or ended super quickly and moved on from. Eventually, I learned to stop getting invested in the wrestlers or their stories because I knew there wouldn't be a payoff. It wasn't long after that that I just stopped watching AEW completely. I liked AEW and a lot of the wrestlers that work there. I really do, but I just can't deal with the disappointment that comes from watching AEW anymore.
I would love to know when some of you guys stopped watching AEW consistently, for me it was when Punk got fired and the young bucks paraded around the ring and did a victory lap off camera, and not to mention when guys I like and wanna see more of be used for maybe 2-3 weeks and then don’t see on tv again for 2-3 months, but yea if anyone wants to reply to this I’d love to hear about it
I still watch, but I stopped watching every single show after Punk left. At that point Rampage was already going downhill and when Punk left, Collision also started to struggle. I just felt like Dynamite was clearly the strongest show, so there wasn't much point in watching the others start-to-finish. They could have bounced back, but they had really bad luck with talent injures. Most of my favorites (Omega, Danielson, Cole, Lucha Bros, MJF) were either injured or off tv and until they started to come back, I couldn't justify giving them 5 hours a week. But going back further, the first strike for me was when Jurassic Express won the tag titles in 2022. AEW had the best tag team division in the business and gave their titles to what (at the time) was probably the 6th or 7th best team in the company.
I used to be a die hard. Watched elevation and dark weekly. Now I’ll watch maybe one a month. It’s crazy how things have changed

Same thing happened in wwe
Buried Dean ambrose aka jon moxley
@@tman1782 listening to mox could help Tony keep his show from continuing to decline in the ways it is. You may not enjoy his performance or he may not be getting booked well or whatever the case may be but that doesn’t mean he can’t give perspective as someone who has been in the game for so long and go look we need to shake things up or it’s done. You don’t have to perform well to want the business to do well
@@tman1782 this is just as bad as the people saying “they’re at the bottom of the card don’t listen to them”
This is the most honest convo. Bully did a great job not saying everything he knows but giving just enough for everyone to gain an insight to dysfunction.
I like hearing about Bully about the wrestling business because he is a realist who knows the industry clearly.
Listening to Bully is like listening to a wise sage 😂...I just sit down by the fire and be quiet ...
I honestly only listen when Bully is on.

I loved AEW when they first came around. The product was awesome. The last 1.5 years has been dreadful storyline wise. Sure they have had a few but overall its been bad. I know im going to get hate but I think the Bucks egos and TK living and dying by DM's opinion is driving the product down.
Storylines this year have literally been the best AEW has even had but sure....

My bad I gotta put respect on everything Christian has done in the past year too. Can’t leave that out but still. They could be doing much better.
AEW isnt a brand, Jon Moxley himself is a bigger brand than AEW and thats the problem
Delusions about MJF's "star status" have been shattered similarly, recently.
neither are brands and moxley was in a fairly popular stable while wrestling was at its nadir. Therefore few people know this person even exists.
If there is no way to move up the card then how are new stars going to be made?
This is a reflection of the issue AEW is having now. When Adam Cole, Kenny Omega, and Bryan Danielson were out, they had to scramble to build their card.
That's why WWE ID doing the program thing
Do you want to work with someone who worked in the ring at AEW. I wouldn't work with someone like that AEW isn't safe from what I see
When they reject Tony's overpaying contract to go to nxt. Lol
There was no need to turn him heel at all.

Tony must appoint a leader and/or new creative. Props to Moxley for at least trying.
The over seriousness of Moxley saying these riddles with a staright face is what makes me laugh everytime.
He is doing Tennessee Williams monologues now while pretending he is Terry Funk lol
Love hearing WWE employees talk about AEW cause I'm sure it's a completely fair take
I think it’s great that you crybabies will never acknowledge what people say, but will make the most shallow responses because you can’t take the fact that people can critique your favorite fake fighting company.
Exactly
That part about the 5 star matches made me realize: Tony isn't even booking a show. The wrestlers make it a 5 star match.
He's just putting people together and taking the credit for their work.
You just described what a "booker" is. Good job.
@92SynysterShadows Oh lord if that's all booking is to you I don't even know what to tell you 🤣
What if Tony and mox had a conversation and all this is something they agreed on to turn things around???
I agree with Bully, it came off as if no one was listening to Mox and this was his last resort. Sad
Also, The Hurt Syndicate is wayyy more interesting than the BCC. That’s their best option to go up against the Bloodline in a ratings war
“ratings war” when nxt beats out dynamite ratings lmfaoo 😭😭😭
@ lol I agree all I’m saying is it’s their best option atm
I've never understood his appeal

@brokenkayfabe Once upon a time, there was a wrestler named Jon Moxley. Every time this guy sneezed, he bled all over himself.
I think Mox is spot on and being TK gave him full control over Deathriders content with TK’s approval shows TK’s all about it.
Whoever that big scary security guard outside TK's door is, he should be in the main event.
Toney Con needs to hear you Dave and see how much of a fan you are and how much love you have for AEW.
This just proves everything CM Punk said about AEW.
But Moxley is taking an approach that may actual help the company going forward. Punk didn't.
Mox wasn't being negative. It's not North Korea. It's ok to tell it like it is.
Just remember CM Punk called him the weak link The Shield.

Of course he was, all this started when he left after stabbing TK in the back. He embarrassed AEW on national television.
I'm being facetious, but this part was too funny! 16:34
This is an incredibly necessary discussion. I hope to God that AEW does listen to Mox and turn shit around.
Bully Rays point of view resonates with JD from NYs take. Both great takes in this AEW issue
IMO AEW was never good, I only watched AEW when CM Punk was around and the rest was the occasional clip of Swerve, Christian
Pretty much.

"AEW was never good" man you are entitled to your own opinion but you cannot tell me Kenny and Hangman's 2 year long story was never good. or Toni Storm's rise to greatness was never good , or MJF , etc etc. but keep going.
I think that interview has everything to do with the storyline going on in the aew. Sure there’s truth in it but it’s all part of it.
If the guy who no sells everything and gives the most boring droning promos is the voice of reason in AEW this company is in a sad sad state.
Hey Bully, you probably remember I was the guy who beat you up outside Angela's Bar in Frisco after you got belligerent to those star trek fans.
I read it in Brian Last immitating Moxley 😂

It’s pure facts AEW is WCW Version 2.0!!!
It’s not facts because WCW got ratings and was beating the WWE
I think it's part of a storyline that will bring in a big name!
I mean, the booking at Aew has made it unwatchable. Feel sad for all the talent they actually got. Where would Moxley be in Wwe today? Trying to fix Roman and Seth and then man....the mid card there is Elite now.
Bully: "Aew just secured a 185 million dollar a year deal"
Also Bully : What AEW is doing isn't working
What?
Tony is already booking dream characters. That’s what Hologram is.
Bully aged gracefully esp being a ECW OG
Can you do an interview with Bully Dave Tommy and Taz?😊
The need to mainline The Hurt Syndicate. They came in OVER af more than any AEW superstar. They look like money and the talent in unreal.
Bully's the man!
If you read or listen to NFL analysts talk about Tony's involvement with the Jacksonville Jaguars, it's the same thing.
Bully should have a promo school. When he speaks..I listen
It's just too little too late for Mox. The inmates have already taken over the asylum
This is the storyline they should've (and maybe would've) done with Punk if he hadn't quit.
It's a work. Moxley in his unending quest to be the Temu SCSA dusted off the tired wrestler vs boss trope.
But now against HHH who arguably had one of the greatest runs by a brand in history against you his product is showing flaws.
no hes not at the company any more the person who said it dosnt matter was jimmy jacobs
How is Moxley's outburst about AEW to NY Post okay while CM Punk's press conference outburst is not?
Sadly, I gave up on AEW a couple of years ago. Every time I go back I am immediately reminded why I walked away. That Swerve/Page match was a fucking dumpster fire.
I think it's Kenny Omega one MJF and then Jon Moxley ❤
Bully with the Jimi reference is SPOT ON
I get the arguments made in the video, but I just can't see how any of this can make them remotely competitive to WWE.
It's funny that Cody and CM Punk said the same things, and people killed them for it...
At some point I believe there is a chance than Moxley returns to WWE.
Bully nails it at 4:48
I would love to know when some of you guys stopped watching AEW consistently, for me it was when Punk got fired and the young bucks paraded around the ring and did a victory lap off camera, and not to mention when guys I like and wanna see more of be used for maybe 2-3 weeks and then don’t see on tv again for 2-3 months, but yea if anyone wants to reply to this I’d love to hear about it
I still watch, but I stopped watching every single show after Punk left.
AEW had the best tag team division in the business and gave their titles to what (at the time) was probably the 6th or 7th best team in the company.
would be absolutely insane to see Bully at the Hammerstein again!
Will you guys bring TAZ on?
why is bro so mad like it’s his company 💀
