Its actually really good, you are just getting a very very verbose version here. Its kind of disgusting how he skips so much. This book is literally 100 chapters, of 2,300 pages. You can find the actual audio book version, its over 100 hrs long.
@@PapaMead He does the big fight and gets cast into the stone "again" in chapter 12. So our story takes place at chapter 13 in the Journey to the West, bear in mind the book is 100 chapters, and 2,300 pages. By chapter 12 he has gained immortality, allowing his rebirth. Its weird though, cause in the traditional tale, a Monk wakes him, and places a weird reign on his hand, that squeezes it and causes him pain, in order to control Sun Wukong. We never see him in the game, so maybe the game is like, a 3rd rebirth never written about?
Take a shot every time the words “fierce” “determined” and “incredible” are used 😂. You’ll be sloshed On a real note, thank you for making these . It’s really amazing to have such a thorough summary of the story. It’s an incredibly enjoyable story, and I hope to read it in full one day soon. Also, it legit already made me have more context and emotional investment within the first couple of hours of Black Myth. ❤
Want a real drinking game, read the actual story and drink every time wukong makes his staff “as thick as a rice bowl”. Make funeral arrangements in advance
It was quite a task for me to finish the book when I read it. After a while, the events of the adventure start to feel repetitive. I was still young and in Nigeria. I read it all on a java phone. Reading big books was my first ever addiction. Sadly video games and anime are competing with reading now.
Sun Wukong symbolizes the desire for freedom and independence. He jumped out of the stone, not bound by anything, and pursued an unrestrained life. At the same time, Sun Wukong's fights in the heavenly palace symbolized his resistance to authority and his challenge to tradition. He was dissatisfied with the arrangement of the God Emperor and dared to challenge the authority of the heavenly court. This kind of rebellion symbolized the challenge to feudal autocracy. Although Sun Wukong was awarded the title of official after completing the task of escorting the master, we don't think such an ending is worthy of him. He should be his true self, defeat demons and uphold justice, and be at ease in his Flower and Fruit Mountain. Sun Wukong in the black myth is another expectation we expect from him.
Awesome. This one is read really really well! Exciting but clear and easy to understand and not at all overwhelming with all the characters all going about their own situations. Can't wait till the next episode! Oh wait, its 2024, hehe, I don't need to wait for the next episode 😅 I can just go grab it now huh... lol
Any anime fans catch references from dragon ball and naruto? Kishimoto and Toriyama were clearly inspired by this story of son wukong. I'm so happy I found this out it makes so much sense why some of the characters they created are so interesting.
Thank you so much for this! Incredible voice too. Can you recommend reading the story? And if so can you point me to a faithful translation? Thanks again i can imagine how much work this is and looking forward to the rest! Much love from Germany ❤
I think the revised version of *Journey to the west by Anthony C. Yu* is the most popular one amongst English speakers. however some stuff will be lost in translation as with all stories, such as jokes and metaphors that only make sense in Chinese.
@@MythicalArcana thanks man! Yeah it's to be expected if you're not able to speak native. I'm currently learning Japanese but Chinese is a different beast :) have a nice day
@@MythicalArcana Indeed, can you imagine for a book like this there are jokes! Not many, but there are several of them. Sun Wukong has many characteristics, been humor is one of them.
I tend to believe in mythology because of the dragon and giant like shapes left in mountains and rock formations..it can’t all be coincidence and I think the past was full of Gods and Monsters. As for Sun Wukong I can tell he’s probably a powerful God doing some meaningful earth time..and I’ve learned, more than anything, that Gods like to get their hands dirty by helping our people and planet..they much prefer this over the glory of heavenly residents! It’s like they’re simple minded but Supreme in all respects..Gods don’t fall from heaven...they leave it for more menial services.
Very much so, Journey to the west has inspired many anime series and a lot of the fight scenes in animes are also inspired by JTW, you can call it the original anime
Another enjoyable watch! you've got a gift my friend, I'm curious if you've heard of a title called Kunitsu-Gami path of the goddess, game seems to have some deep meaningful lore would absolutely love to see you delve into that deep well of knowledge and see what you find, that game completely suprised me how good it is, especially Asuras Wrath I love the lore behind that and has some of my most favourite Voice actors in it, thankyou once again for your work, look forward to your next one
I can see where the inspiration for dragonball z came from. Defeating enemies and making them alliances along the path. The spritual growth of the journey, nimbus cloud, and the transformations are on point. I'm liking this more and have more appreciation for goku. I feel like son wukong is more vegeta and the monk is goku.
Xuanzang FORGIVES Sun Wukong when he returns and save his ass??? He should have BEGGED for Wukong forgiveness!! He unfairly banished him from the beginning! 😑😑
that's what i'm saying. bro saved his ass 3 times and just cus of a misunderstanding he gets banished and after saving his stupid ass the 4th time he gets Wukong doesn't even get a "thank you" or a "sorry"
I swear, everyone in the Journey to the West book and it's subsequent adaptation, besides the monkey king, are all evil and fools. Nothing says rooting for the monkey king more than me always wishing he just gives everyone the middle finger and goes on living his life however he wants.
The real life Ginseng yes. But in the novel it’s a fruit. The name ginseng fruit in the novel, when written in Chinese is 人参 果, referring to the human like appearance of the fruit. Hence why monk Sanzang refused to eat it even though it has magical properties.
White Bone Demon deceived Chan Zang (10:47) (11:40) 22:10 Chan Zang forgave Sun WuKong, but Chan Zang was deceived, if you forgave someone, it means the other person did something wrong but Chan Zang was deceived, if you forgave someone, it means the other person did something wrong . so Chan Zang never found out he was deceived by White Bone Demon???
They’re not from the novel but digital art I think. There’s also an 80s adaptation with ENG subs floating around on YT that’s dubbed the most novel accurate adaptation by most Asians
I hope western don't make film about it. If it was western TV series 10 years ago would be good, but western TV series today? They will give u a black skin gay WuKong, a rainbow BaJie, a shemale transgender Sha WuJing, and a hefemale transgender Tang ShanZang, and they have X party every night, including the white loong horse.

are all the pictures made with AI? what AI did you use?
White Bone Demon deceived Chan Zang (10:47) (11:40)
22:10 Chan Zang forgave Sun WuKong, but Chan Zang was deceived,
if you forgave someone, it means the other person did something wrong
but Chan Zang was deceived, if you forgave someone, it means the other person did something wrong .
so Chan Zang never found out he was deceived by White Bone Demon???
4 parts are quickly turning into 9x9 81 parts...lol
