    This move annoys me so much.
    When my sensei lifts his knee on a slight angle than a vertical one it appears like a roundhouse kick is coming. But when I block my side for the roundhouse, the kick will suddenly come from the other side straight to my face!

    if you what to counter with a ura in kumite you should not step forward beacuase thats how a good enemy easily sweep your legs so intstead take a step back and throw the kick.

    I think the only thing missing here is: "how to apply actual power to Uramawashi"
    because that is IMO, the hardest part with this kick.

    Nice video. Although this is the fast but "weak" way of doing the kick. Here your hip and upper body are turning away from the direction of the kick and taking force and weight away from the kick. There is a version of the technique where you are turn you hip and upper body in to the kick. Bit slower but much more powerful.
    And this is just an observation and bit of information. Not trying to mock or insult you.

    • @iitqo3347
      @iitqo3347 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In kumite you can't really kick powerfully in someones head, so being fast is more important, although i agree if it is self defence on the street.

    I like all your videos, comments and explanations. In this video your demonstration might be serving you at tournament to score point, but not effective. It's no more than a slap. Your execution of the Ura mawashi geri is poor and wrong. With the right technik the Ura Mawashi geri could be just as powerful as the Jodan Mawashi Geri (either front leg or back leg). Osu !

    • @Elurin
      @Elurin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree. The jodan mawashi geri is just a far more powerful kick due to body mechanics and natural torque. Not to say that the ura mawashi geri can be performed more powerfully; I know, it's probably my favourite kick, during my competition days, and for board breaking demos, but for raw power, few kicks beat the good, old roundhouse!
