Wow, it works! I didn't use a brush, I simply vacuumed out the slot. Cars run smooth now!

Disconnect the track - flip it round the other way - works every-time for me, have no idea why - but it's something I only just discovered.

hi there! I'm new to scalextric even though I'm 30 I never had one, I found a older set in my mum on laws loft figured it wouldn't work.. it did so I've had it running got big plans for it extend scenery the lot then it stopped working.. why is it when something electrical stops working we think the worst.. well turns out after watching your video we gave the track a good clean till ot sparkled and it now runs fine.. thanks for the tip! peace out. This isn't my problem, but I had a bad one. I had a BMW out that had one broken light. After a while I saw the power thing start blinking a little. Then for some reason the light that broke came on. It flickered for a while until they just stopped. I gave it some power in the remote, and eventually something happened that made my heart skip a beat. My remote started smoking.

I am having problems with my track but I have also hoovered the track. Both cars still only work for a short run on my layout. Over a few months I have been able to get ahold of some new cars which have working head and tail lights, the new car isn't working. this is puzzling me.. I can only use one lane with my cars that came with my set, just wondering if i need a power booster of some kind to fix the problem. I have the same track problem everytime I build a layout.. if you could help, it would be much appreciated.

Try 50 - 75% power it’s running too fast same thing happened with ours.

It's fine, it just needs to cool down, the capacitor gets very hot after long use, as there is no safety cut-off to prevent it from overheating.
