The E.T. one is actually kinda perfect cuz every parent has had that moment where they know they gotta be responsible and scold their kid but what the kid did or said was also funny.
Harrison Ford was not laughing in the scene, he was cringing. His character knows how corny he sounded and the guys on the other end would never believe him.
Also, it’s my understanding that Ford purposely did not memorize his lines for that scene so that it would sound like he was coming up with those lines off-the-cuff
I don't think that Vigo MOrtenson's scream should be considered as "breaking character." He managed to stay in character despite being in immense pain, using the pain to highlight his character's frustration and anger.
