    You are listening to the best Blues Jazz fusion jam bands ever assembled. They were formed in 1968 in Jacksonville Florida. The driving force was the late Duane Allman one of the most gifted guitar players to ever walk this planet. His life was tragically cut short not long after this album was made in June 1971. He died in a motorcycle accident when a large truck didn't see him and pulled out in front of him. I still haven't gotten over it. In fact I stopped following the band for the next 30 years. They had lost the vision. Then in 2004 I heard a song on FM radio that sounded like heaven had found a new resting place. Lo and behold it was the New Allman Bros. Band. With two new guitar players Derek Trucks who grew up around the band and was a slide guitar savant who had been sitting in with the band since he was 11 yrs.old. He was joined by Warren Haynes who is a guitar virtuoso in his own right. Those two in place and then getting Gregg Allman back playing his Hammond B3 and singing as pure as ever. The magic was back and the next few years until 2014 when Gregg's health issues forced him off the road. So for 2 brief stints here on this planet we heard some of the best Blues and Jazz music ever to be produced by humans. That is a brief overview of the band. Enjoy them as often you can you won't hear anything like them any time soon.

    Don't let the haters get you down. Some people aren't happy unless they are bitchin' about something. I was in my senior year of high school when the Allman Brothers Band debut album was released in 1969. The band's original lineup was Greg Allman (keyboards and vocals), his brother Duane Allman(lead and slide guitar), Dickey Betts(lead guitar), Barry Oakley(bass guitar). Part of their unique sound(at the time) was they used two drummers, Butch Trucks, and Jai Johanny Johanson. They were really the founders and originators of Southern Rock. Great, great band, especially live. Unfortunately, the band were no strangers to tragedy. On October 29, 1971, Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident. Then, on November 11, 1972, 47 years ago today, bassist Barry Oakley, who was one of Duane's closest and dearest friends, also died in a motorcycle accident only three block from where Duane's accident had occurred, almost exactly a year earlier. Some argue they were just as good as they kept going after these tragedies, but I disagree. To me the band was never the same. The track you're reacting to here, "One Way Out" was originally released on their Live At The Filmore East album which was recorded before Duane and Barry's deaths. it's considered by many to be one of the finest live albums ever recorded. You should check out more of it. BTW, I think you're doing a great job. I really enjoy your videos and your reactions. Thanks.

    Duane was only 24. Just think how much more he could have done in the future. They founded "southern rock" , a genre that influenced a LOT of bands and music. Two drummers, great guitarists and Gregg's vocals and organ playing was just perfect . This band had such talent, and was incredible live. Thanks for reacting.

    I'm telling you straight...these guys' first five albums were just incredible! I'm particular to their second album, Idlewild South, and songs like, "Don't Keep Me Wonderin'", "Please Call Home", and "Leave My Blues At Home". But, my FAVORITE song from them, is from the first album, and I don't see many people request it...it's a song called, "Dreams". One of my all time favorite songs!

  • @helgar791
    @helgar791 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just so glad you've found these guys. I saw The Allman Brothers 4 times back in the day. 3 times before Duane died, once directly after with The Grateful Dead. They were exciting, dynamic and they played all night. These guys above all were a live band, and in the future please, if you can, keep doing the live versions of their songs. Try "Statesboro Blues", "Don't Keep Me Wonderin' ", "Hot 'Lanta", "Midnight Rider", and of course the classic "Whippin' Post". By the way, I was at the Fillmore East when they recorded this entire album. As for those who complain that since she doesn't know the band she shouldn't react to them, it's moronic. You should only listen to music you're familiar with? You should only listen to the same genre over and over? No one is allowed to have an opinion? Ludicrous. With that kind of thinking I would never have found The Allman Brothers in the first place. The only way to find that things you like is to explore. Good for you Kristin.

    When you think about it...Haters just want attention, they crave the interaction with others, especially anonymously. They don't have the ability to relate to others in a reasonable fashion, they must share their unhappiness and loneliness...When you spend a second on them, a moment responding to them, you join them in their sickness...My advice is to let them share their gifts of unhappiness with others...if they offer you their gifts of hatred and unhappiness, you get to choose whether or not to accept that gift... As if their criticism has something to do with you...I don't know about you..But i have a difficult time as it is, dealing with my own unhappiness, let alone take someone else's unhappiness on.

      @@KristinKali Thinking that we alone are the arbiters of taste, that we have a clue as to what is good for someone else, is pure hubris....All of life originates internally, we are the cause or the world in which we live...What a chaotic world to live in, one that happiness is generated from an external source...I therefore choose love and compassion for all those who suffer from the illusion that "Being right" is the way to win...when it fact, there is no winning that game.

    Duane used a Coricidin medicine glass bottle to play slide (which fits over one of your fingers)..It no longer comes in that glass bottle, and Duane preferred it over other kinds of slides, which are most commonly made of metal, glass, or ceramic...He died on his Harley in a collision with a truck down in Macon, Ga, 1971, at the age of 24...He was an amazing guitar player, and slide was his specialty.

      Steve he started using the Corcidin bottle after a bout of depression from a motorcycle wreck that injured his left hand preventing him from playing like he wanted to..He went into seclusion not talking to anyone. Greg went to his house knocked on his door when Duane answered Gregg just gave him the bottle and left. This is documented by Gregg in the Rockunentary The History of Southern Rock

    Instrument for instrument, perhaps the most talented American blues/rock band in history. The late, great Greg Allman is without question the greatest white blues singer in rock history. The late, great Berry Oakley was a phenomenal bass player, and the double drumming of the late, great Butch Trucks & Jaimoe, along with Oakley always held down the rhythm section flawlessly and what seemed like effortlessly for this band. But I'm not sure any band, American or otherwise, can boast having had a more formidable twin guitar attack in their line-up with the level of brilliance the Allman Brothers did in the late, great Duane Allman and in Forrest Richard (Dickey) Betts. All that talent in the same band is exactly what prompted Rolling Stone Magazine some 30+ years ago to name the Allman Brothers "Live At The Fillmore East" album the #1 live album ever recorded in the rock history. I concur!

    The reference u made to a viewer's comment about corricidin refers to Duane Allman dumping out a bottle of corricidin he was taking for a cold & using it to improvise as a slide, making that infamous slide guitar sound that became his trademark. To this day he is credited with creating that sound to perfection, which is such a part of Southern Rock! By the way back then alot of our meds were sold in glass bottles & that's what he used!
