Thanks heaps mate. It’s funny how every country has their own ways. Metal pipe duct is very common here however some people definitely use plastic too.
So I seal the penetration through the wall with clear silicone then i fold the lid of the trunking over the top so it covers the top. Then I also run a bead of silicone along the top where the lid meets the wall. I’ll make a video going more in detail. Cheers
Hello Mitch,my name is Jacopo and I’m Technician too in Italy,I have few question because I’m preparing to fly in Australia with Working holiday visa and I would do the same job,I have almost 6 years of experience and the Italian License,I would ask if the aluminium plant is a common in Australia and about the Gutter is iron? Because here we usually use a Plastic one..good work for your videos and i like how you work! 😁
A lot of people use this metal channel but also a lot of people use plastic pipe duct. What ever you prefer mate. So if you prefer working with the plastic stuff then that’s totally fine! Where in Australia are you coming to work?
@@maracservices wow, your reply is so fast thanks!,to be honest I’m kind of worker that everything is fine,I adapt to all types of material,I work with metal, plastic, aluminium and copper, plastic channel is just faster way to put the channel on the wall 😄,I was asking which noun was the refrigeration plant,I still don’t know which city,I was thinking Orange for do my 88 days and to be able to ask for the second whv,and then Melbourne or Sydney, can I ask where you work mate? There’s a company called colorbond in Australia that manufacture sheet metal. Any air conditioning wholesaler in Australia sell this ducting and it’s made by Colorbond. We call it Trunking and every installer uses it over here.
Google “Hilti HRD”. Hilti is the manufacturer and HRD is the type of fixing it is. My local wholesaler have the same fixings that aren’t Hilti but are identical. Cheers
I'm in Greece on a holiday and us Aussie do installs way tooooo neat haha they just slap it in anywhere and pipe work is just ran as the crow flys, the pair coil is wrapped in white duct tape, what's duct cover? Or making it look neat. Some of the location of the outdoors there would be no vac happening just purge the dog and send it. Locally isolated? Nah don't worry about that shit haha
I’m on holiday as we speak in the US and I’ve seen some installs exactly as you describe lol but don’t worry I’ve seen some doozies in Australia too haha
I also try staying clear of pumps. Done 100's of installs with gravity drains with even longer horizontal runs, but use 25mm tube, and if there is space in trunking I try sloping drain inside the trunking
Do you guys use aluminum tubing or copper ? We used to us aluminum a few years ago, but almost everyone in the trade here has switched back to copper - found aluminum corrodes after time and starts forming pinholes
I want to get the m12 impact for my service bag but an m18 impact and drill is way more important. The m12 is a just a light weight thing which would be nice. Not a necessity in my opinion. I want to get a new m18 impact to replace mine which is cooked then hopefully one day I’ll buy an m12. Everything is just so expensive nowadays 😂
Honest opinion on whether or not I should consider an adult apprenticeship? Coming in late (31) so I know that makes everything trickier (live in Aus). I just want a trade that makes good money and has future prospects and won't completely destroy my body. HVAC just seems up my alley, especially taking pride in my work. Thanks if you bother to answer. I enjoy your content, keep it up 👍
I honestly think 31 is absolutely young enough mate and there is a massive shortage of tradesmen in Aus so you will get payed very well. A good mate of mine who I did my apprenticeship with was 37 when he finished his apprenticeship. I was a school leaver and he was a mature age apprentice. Still mates to this day and both still in the trade.

That color bond was too old plastic sticks then. Worst is blue plastic on Ali sheets. If you leave it in the sun for too long it's worst than paint to take off
I’m not sure how many different types there are these days. I just use the normal 18v single battery one mate. I can check the model number if you like. It’s quite old now.
Really nice work. Serious question though, did you pull an evacuation to 500 microns ?
The amount of times I’ve lost some of them outdoor screws makes those spares that now come with it such a great help😂
Haha mate I put all them in my fixings box for that exact reason. I’ll be keeping everyone they give me 😂
Very nice install, Mitch! Those units are so quiet!
@@pat750 thanks mate. They sure are!
All accurate and beautiful install
Top install, mate. Well done. I am in Uk, and we use plastic trunking most of the time plastic trunking. I've never seen steel one in the UK.

thumbs up for a new driver. I think you willed it to work with that battery swap. Might be time for the retirement shelf in the back of the truck.
I think you might be right mate. I’ve just held off as long as I could but it seems to be getting worse. It is time!
Love that disconnect. Wish I could find that in the states.
Those American ones are so weird
That was a neat Daikin install Mitch, and nice sharp camera work also 👍
Thanks again Rob!
In Spain we are in summer this time of year, he he he, I really enjoy your videos keep it up fellow tech.
I’m jealous mate! Can’t wait for the warmer months to come our way haha.
Lovely neat job

Would be keen to see a video of how you do the 90° bends too! Love your work

Great video, how long would the run of copper need to be apart between the outdoor and indoor unit before you would need to add more gas
20 to 30 depending on the brand and size

Mitch, neat as always. Are you gravity draining the condensate or pumping when you have horizontal runs such as that?
