    Select + Volume keys also does brightness control. ☀️

      Yes. Someone else mentioned it earlier and that is a easier way to make the change. I tried multiple key presses to see if there was a shortcut and I must have just missed that key combo. Thanks for watching!

    This is one of my current favorite under $100 systems. I just did a video comparing switch emulation on the Nintendo switch OLED versus the RGB 30. Great video I I subscribed to your Channel

    Great review. Liked and sub. Looks like I'm ready to upgrade my rp2+ for this machine.

      Thanks for watching and the sub. This retro handheld market has so many choices. I like looking for something that is unique (the screen in this case).

    Great review & comparison, Zack.
    I too think _Onion OS_ and auto bookmarking is what makes the Miyoo Mini so great as a travel companion.
    I am surprised the other Chinese companies have yet to catch on.
    I have both a MM & MM+ as well as several older Anbernics.
    The RGB30 is definitely tempting me...

    • @BackNTheBox

      Yeah I was on the fence about the rgb30 but since I enjoy the vertical games so much I had to give it a try. The Anbernic arc has me interested because of the six face button layout. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.

      Those systems play and look great on the RGB30, but if you want to save money the rg35xx is also a great handheld. Thanks for watching.

    I picked the rgb30 as my first handheld and I'm excited about discovering the world of retro devices with this peculiar one. Next one will maybe be gr353V for vertical and android experiences.

      I'd recommend saving up for something better, I'd recommend the RG405V/M or the RGB10 Max 3 (not pro)

    Fantastic video.
    I find ptessing power button for sleep, wait a couple of seconds, power button to wake. Fixed. Same occurs if sleeping for long time-- just put to sleep and wake again. Sometimes twice but it always works for me:)

    0:57 finally someone shows pac-man on this device 🤣. theres many awesome early 80s vertical arcade games in addition to the shmups

    • @BackNTheBox

      Yeah shmups are great on this screen, but enjoy playing classics like dig dug, qbert, zaxxon, and donkey kong.

    Got a great deal with 69e, havent shipped yet but I own miyoo mini plus and was disappointed to its screen quality, also little bit of more power and much bigger batterylife will be appreciated. Cant wait to play those square consoles with quality screen.

    • @BackNTheBox

      The screen should really impress you, and those square aspect ratio games look great. I purchased a 3D printed grip for the RGB30 and it feels great in the hand. The grips can also allow the RGB30 to flip around and store with screen protected.

  • @TheRealAlpha2

    Any time I've had trouble with the screen after an update, I just hit the reset button up top to reboot the system. It won't play God of War well but the number of PSP games it actually can play is more impressive than it lets on. With a little aspect ratio adjustment you can fill a bit more of the screen without stretching things too oddly. Either way, the 720p screen keeps things detailed.

    Super thorough. That shutdown and restart would really annoy me.

    • @BackNTheBox

      Hopefully through other custom firmware updates the RGB30 will get the fast shutdown feature. I know that the custom firmware MiniUI is now available on the RGB30. It has the fast shutdown and save but doesn’t support arcade games. Which eliminates a lot of great vertical games that I mainly got the system to play. Thanks for watching.

    An easier way to get the screen brightness back up is hold down Start and press volume up. It did that to me after installing an update.

    • @BackNTheBox

      Thanks for that tip. That would definitely be a easier way.

      Yeah if you hold select and press volume buttons the brightness changes so thanks again.

    Guys if You encounter dark screen after update - take Your phone - flash light close to screen itll show you lines You are at - saw that at other review of RGB30 .
    Also it shouldn't be case for Us to do this.
    Its easy soft fix during patch sequence. Bright -> 50% example
    Same issue with battery life - sleep mode that do not work properly - soft issue and elements using energy.
    Decent vid

    • @BackNTheBox

      It was also mentioned in other comments that you can simple press “select + volume up” to change the brightness. That flashlight trick is great though to see UI elements with the brightness at 0%. Thanks for the helpful comment and for watching.

    i have the blackscreen issue when ArkOS is used on the OS sd port. its a sandisk and sometimes it shows the ArkOS splashscreen for like 10seconds then it just disappears like its about to load emulation station but nothing happens indefinately. Then other times, its just the black screen with the power indicator lights on. I just mash up the shoulder buttons, R like twice and then press and hold the power button then it loads ArkOS. Default sd with JelOS boots instantly but menu navigation is terribly slow.

    • @BackNTheBox

      Could be screen brightness setting being set to 0. Shortcut that could work is hold “select + volume up button”. Also connect hdmi out to see if you are getting a signal out.

    Hey I think the RG30 is a bit better than anbernic RG353V, because of the chipset. Right?

  • @exodous02

    The main reason I like the RGB30 for me is comfort with a square screen. I just can't play handhelds like the original gameboy. Growing up I had the Game Gear and Sega Nomad. I wasn't so much a Sega fan as I just hated playing my little brother's GB, WhyTF did Nintendo put the controls under the screen? It is much better to have them on the sides. When I play these RETRO handhelds I play RETRO games, and that, for me, is everything PS1 and under so a wide screen is just a waste of screen for me.
    I really hope a more premium handheld company makes a handheld like the RGB30. Powkiddy always has weird problems, the charging and sleep/wake up is really wonky on this handheld.

    • @BackNTheBox

      I agree with the comfort of the horizontal layout. I did buy 3d printed grips for the RGB30 and 35XX, and they really help with both. The grip for the RGB30 allow the device to flip around and protect the display. Would be nice to have a unit with a build quality feel that matches the screen quality. Thanks for watching and adding your comment.

    Can it play nds very well

    • @BackNTheBox

      I would say well. Audio can be a little choppy on some titles but also games requiring constant touch are hard to control. You would have to hold down the right thumbstick while moving it. A lot of games play great and control great.

      The only thing I can think of is to reinstall a fresh version of Jelos. I had issue with an over the air update and had to download install jelos manually. I hope you have been able to correct this issue and enjoy the device.

    great piece of hardware, shame only about the thumbsticks, unreliable and cheap😢

    • @BackNTheBox

      Yeah the stock thumbsticks are not the best. Even using them for arcade games I found them to be to loose. Glad it is an easy fix to replace, but does add to the over all price.
