My , great grandmother, grandmother, mother, and myself were all teen parents. Luckily my daughter is now 21 and child free enjoying college. You always want more for your children than what you had.
Mom has bitterness she’s taking out against Max from her own issues regarding her kids fathers and teen pregnancy. Max seems mature and focused on having a family. It happened to my wife and me too, at 17 years old. Now, 46 years and 3 more children later, we're still married, our kids have grown up, and we now have grandchildren. It makes you grow up and get responsible real quick, but it is not the end of the world.
