First binged this show in early high school with what's now my longest- time best friend. Since then he moved to Austria and I to Scotland, he's an IT tech and I'm a university clerk, very ordinary lives, but man when those descending power chords ring out I never fail to get taken back to that cramped attic in a torrid italian summer, feeling like having an acid trip with the people I trusted the most.
Nathan bringing up this song made me think about FLCL again, and honestly it's literally just Analphabetapolothology by Cap'n Jazz as an anime. In a way, it's a shame they didn't use any tracks from that album since it would have fit in alongside the OST.

From what I heard the whole intention of the original season was just to evoke nostalgia from the viewer. FLCL was essentially a passion project that the team put their heart and soul into. They even found suitable western equivalents for things they referenced in Japanese culture etc. It's supposed to be inherently nostalgic and youthful which I think is really cool.

This anime... This music.... Those characters were so perfectly free just like this music. It was all clucky as fuck and story was stupid. And you know what? I love it with whole my heart. Especially this music line, It's just astonating I feel like I could fall with parashute with a love of my life next to me when this music was playing. So great

I've only just started watching FLCL, and an instrumental version of this song played in the first episode. I couldn't help but feel like I've heard it before. Suddenly, I remembered a really old flash cartoon that I watched at a very young age that had this song playing in the background. A quick couple of TH-cam searches later and I'm finally reunited with that one little song I heard so many years ago. Therefore, I think I'm destined to watch this show.

An anime that I really, really liked but had no clue what the heck was going on. I just tell my friends to enjoy the music. It is like a 6 episode anime that is a music video.
It's about growing up. That's it. That's all. Just growing up. That weird place between still being a kid and wanting to be an adult, but having no idea how to be that adult. It's also got a plot in there about a woman using a little kid for her own goals (free the Pirate King and eat him to obtain his powers, which are INSANE). The anime itself is less about the plot and more about how it makes you feel. The whole thing is steeped in analogies and metaphors. What's going on is going on, but there's a ton of subtext. "Nothing amazing happens here. Everything is ordinary." Powerful words.
Same here. But if you campere this to 'Don't look back in Anger' the similaritys are striking: The Melody, the guitars, their singing-styles... Same goes for the song that plays,when Mamimi breaks down in the first episode. How's that one called again?
