I often use this function it makes the long journeys more relaxing still staying alert of my surroundings and what the vehicle is doing kinda like a pilot while AP is engaged
We live in the mountains, and you really have to be ready to control the wheel because going the speed limit of 55 or greater it doesn't catch the sharp turns fast enough and will go into the next lane. It seemed to want to correct AFTER it crosses the lines but of course I couldn't assume that or wait to see if it does. Also if lines are very worn and parts missing can make it delay the turn too much... But for good roads, gentle curves it works great and the intelligent cruise control is VERY great here because in all my other cars I could never use it because so many people keep changing speeds because they don't know how to handle the curves. Now I can use it almost all the time. Another safety feature is when it is storming it cancels the assist which is a good thing because you don't need to spin out.
Great tutorial. I’ve had my 2023 Platinum AWD and I use this constantly, esp on long trips and at night. I drive from NYC - DE regularly, and it makes late night trips safer, seeing the lanes more clearly and maintaining proper speed. My husband resists using it, but I agreed, I wouldn’t want to drive a car without it.
My wife just bought one last weekend I haven’t driven it till today coming back from Vegas and I will tell you the pro pilot assist is cool. I could eat Ramen if I wanted to.
My new 2024 nissan x trail wobble on the motor way and got me scared.Today nissan said i should turn off the lane departure off cos it is the cause of the vibration and it drags the car to the other lane
Works great on the LEAF EV. Can control the speed of the car and even bring the car to a complete stop in traffic, then set off again, following the flow of the traffic. Really useful for helping you to stay in lane and at a safe distance from traffic in front on long journeys.
My main question for something like this technology, which I haven't seen answered anywhere, is how does it deal with someone stopping hard in front of you. I mean, if your foot is off the break (which I assume is the point of ICC) then how is a driver meant (if at all) to stop in time? I was just recently (a few months ago) in a car accident that broke my femur in my leg and am kind of timid to start driving again.. I think something like this could go a long way to helping me with all the safety features, but still am unsure of how it would handle specific situations, such as other people doing dumb things.
Hard for me to demo for you as I would be risking my own safety however the Forward collision sensor notifies you immediately with a beep in applies the brakes pretty hard when someone slices in front of you
It works perfectly really. It’s not over reacting while making sure you don’t crash. It even slightly slows you down when detecting potential hazard like a pedestrian too close to the road etc.
@@carsunlocked All I can add is today I was doing almost 30mph in my new to me 8 month old nissan leaf and this guy in front of me was about to turn onto a petrol station. It was obvious to me that he was going to get on to the forecourt clearly so I carried on as he slowed down with the plan to maybe move wide if needed ( you know that thing we all do from time to time but probably are not supposed to) . Let's just say that collision sensor is on all the time and it did not like what I was doing. Although I was not going to crash it became apparent the car didn't have as much faith in my abilities as I did, and it slowed right down... fast... so fast that my heart skipped a beat and my underpants changed colour. The breaking was very "resistive" if that makes sense, as in it felt like the motors were taking all the load rather than friction from the breaks. The car did not come to a complete halt, as the vehicle in front was moving and just slowing right down. I will drive more carefully in future lol.
Thanks for making this amazing video, however on turning steering assist I’m getting system malfunction warning. Radar cruise control working fine though
I just purchases a 2025 Nissan Altima and still learning about all the functions of this car. Question so how do you turn on just the cruise control without the assist ? Or does it only work when you have engaged with pro pilot?
It's not ment to be hands free. You are supposed to keep your hands on the wheel. Dont know why he claims its supposed to be hands free. You need to be able to take control if it doesn't handle a curve correctly or loses the lanes. But it's great on long rides & highway driving, as long as you keep one hand on the wheel, you're good.
I can tell you this, that when it goes around corners that are 50-55 miles an hour sometimes it will actually throw you off the road. Be careful. It almost threw me into a bridge. The other thing is that sometimes when you cross an intersection and the lovely roads lines do not match up, it causes all kinds of problems too.
Have done about 3000 km with this feature.... Had it turn off randomly on curves despite clear lines a few times... very dangerous. My advise is to be extra extra vigilant in construction 🚧 zones and curves.
@@carsunlocked Yes, I know, I have one. But that causes very little brake wear compared to constant usages to turn the vehicle and maintain lane center when using the ProPilot.
@@carsunlocked You inspired me to try it more. I followed my wife last night about 60 miles on the interstate. It really impressed me. I took my hands off the wheel and let it do its thing until it alerted me to put my hands back on. It locked in to her Palisade and stuck to it like glue. Thanks for the inspiration.
What’s stupid about these systems is they want you touching the steering wheel but as long as it’s doing a good job I’m not fighting it, but inevitably, because you aren’t fighting the system tooth and nail (because it’s doing a good job) it thinks you let go. But instead of using a sensor in the steering wheel like a smart company would do, like little strips of contacts embedded in there, it starts squawking at you to hold the steering wheel. So now you have to baby sit this stupid half step system by shaking the wheel every 30 seconds or unfortunately while in a turn and make sure the system doesn’t shut down on your forcing you to park, shut down and restart to enable it again. So it harasses you by accusing of dereliction of duty at intervals just long enough that you briefly forget about the system and actually enjoy the drive. These systems are parasitic, they live off of sucking the joy out of you enjoying a system like this. They exist only to harangue, cajole and accuse you of inattention, or making a sandwich while driving, while never ever letting you forget the system is there. Terrible systems. Supercruise is one of the first I’ve enjoyed. BUT it’s not perfect since it turns off at inopportune times.
You must have been reading my mind. I almost emailed you to suggest covering "how to" vids on using the Nissan tech. Nicely done Chris!
thanks we filmed a bunch please feel freee to suggest videos!

yes certainly if your on the road with a lot of turns I wouldnt use it
Great video! I was looking for a video to explain the controls to me and you did just that! Thanks so much!!
so happy we could help you

Very helpful video. Thank you so much for making this video. I just tried in my Xtrail 2023. It’s an amazing feature.

@@carsunlocked i don't have a steering assist ON option in my Nissan kicks 2023 . Is it available for higher trim?

Thank you for sharing this as it helped with my trip to Texas
Glad it was helpful!
Pro-Pilot is there for to keep you alert & steering your car correctly & its not a self driving car with hands off the wheel.
yes i mentioned that in the video

I just purchases a 2025 Nissan Altima and still learning about all the functions of this car. Question so how do you turn on just the cruise control without the assist ? Or does it only work when you have engaged with pro pilot?
you can turn off the propilot steering assist which is by your left knee beside the steering wheel
Thank you - all your videos have been very helpful.
I’m very nervous driving on curves, hope this help to maintain my speed and safety
it will
When I try pro pilot it’s says steering assistance not available! Any suggestions please? 2019 leaf
you need to turn on the steering assistant it is buy your left knee
Good video - I’m trying to find how to DISABLE this Pro Pilot Assistance - I want to be able to drive the car and not the other way around
yes you can do this in your Nissan Advanced Driver assist screen. or just dont turn it on
@@carsunlocked I have a 2020 Nissan Rogue special edition. Would I have this NAD assist feature? And how would I control it please?

clearly explained👍....
Thank you 🙂
Thank you! 5 hr drive ahead 😊
Have fun!
What kind of Nissan is is Altima century or what
not sure what your asking?
What if you never put your hands back on the wheel? I’ve been scared to test it.
it will notify you and shut off the pro pilot assist
Can u not use for normal driving?
you can but there needs to be lanes and guidance lines on the road
How does this system compare to GM SuperCruise? Which is more reliable?
I like the nissan one a lot better
@@carsunlocked Can you please elaborate a little bit? In what ways is ProPilot better than SuperCruise? Thanks!
Supercruise is a far more advanced system
@carsunlocked does Nissan kick 2023 SV has this steering assist?
no it does not
What’s the point if u have to keep grabbing the wheel every 10 seconds?
it just makes it easier
No. You can put just two fingers and enjoy the ride.

I would still make sure I steer when cornering

yes your certainly right I dont really use it in these areas
I have a 2018 Nissan rogue sl with the same feature but it never works
might need to get it checked out
A lot of people are complaining about their brakes wearing out very early. I'm thinking this might be the reason.
sometimes it hits the breaks pretty hard because of the sensor
@@carsunlocked I was thinking it was because ProPilot uses the brakes to do the steering it's using the brakes all the time.
@@ClassicFIHD it certainly applies the brakes hard if someone cuts you off
@@carsunlocked Yes, I know, I have one. But that causes very little brake wear compared to constant usages to turn the vehicle and maintain lane center when using the ProPilot.
I have a 2024 Nissan Rogue. As for the brakes? My daughter has a Nissan Pathfinder and she warned me they wear out quickly.
My Altima likes to veer into the other lanes and accelerate into cars while in pro pilot..
thats super strange
I have a Nissan with that but I just can’t put that much trust in it.
id trust it more then most drivers

The max setting is 144kph. Kinda sux for road trips. .... 😢 i found out after spending a ton of money for a new car just for this feature.
well thats well above the speed limit
It not a race car..🙄..if 89 miles an hour isn't fast enough, perhaps be a stock car driver.

One of the less great systems out there. Reviewers need to be more transparent. Other brands do this much better
