Single Mode Fiber Optic Cables: 10 to 100 km.
Multi Mode Fiber Optic Cables: 550 m.
    Copper Wire: 300 m.
    Twisted Pair: 100 m.

Great information, would be even better if the video was of the actual technologies being talked about. Most of this video is showing Ethernet cable and is completely unrelated to what is being spoken about.

    Easy to understand. Great explanation!

Why are you discussing fiber while the overwhelming majority of images are of copper cables?

Hey man sorry to sound stupid but I need to know the multimode that you mentioned…… when you mentioned many modes of light….. are you saying it transmits more than one signal at the same time? Or what exactly does this mean?

Hi Raael. The modes refer to the main beams of light that come from the transmitting device when sending over the fibre cable. Think of it as a torch with lots of "modes" of light all emitting together. With singlemode it is more like a laser light so a single source of light in a tight concentration. Hence a singlemode of light. Hope that helps

So I assume multimode cables like OM3 can be used with single mode transceivers? I see no reason why not.

Pulse transmission is better on duty and of duty percentage is information data but for long dietance laser is best

Amazing .. 99% of the videos show UTP installations which is NOT FIBER. Just because it is blinking the activity leds and looks pretty, it has nothing to do with optical fiber ;(
