    Great vid. It's funny to watch because I just got my 2023 KLR and going through the same riding issues. My first ride was sketchy at best, slipping and sliding every where, my second ride I loosened up on the grip and took the tire pressure down to 17 front and 20 rear and that made a huge difference for the better. I'm 66 and haven't been off road since 2000 so my skills are pretty bad but......... improving rapidly. The bike is so awesome now I just have to get me tuned up.

      @@ScoutsOut Also, I'm looking at the Shinko 244's after I wear these tires out. They get great reviews and price is very low. Give them a look, and....... be safe out there..

    Avid KLR enthusiast(also former 19d). Take those bags/boxes off while learning offroad. You're going to crush them, or they also have a risk of injury associated. If you don't know about the doohickey mod, search the forums. Do that immediately. Ditch those handguards, get bark busters for hot weather. Handguards are nice in the cold. Offer zero help for protecting levers. For the knee grip, skateboard grip tape. You can get creative with the design if you want. OR, textured paint. I prefer the paint as it isn't AS rough. But it is more permanent. That's a good start.

      Right on man, thats cool. Hand guards are coming soon but its still cold lol

    Thank you for bringing on this fun ride. I just purchased a 2023 KLR 650S, which is pretty much the same height and weight of my previous bike, the Royal Enfield Himalayan. One of the reasons I bought the KLR was for better performance on the road. I am a big fan of ghost towns and remote areas. I think my days of doing serious trail riding are over as I’m 70 years old and I break kinda easily. Last year, while trail riding, I fell on my back onto a rock. Despite the fact that my jacket had armour there, I broke two ribs. I had to sleep in a chair for two months because I couldn’t lie down.

      Dang breaking ribs is painful and annoying, the klr will be a perfect put around to enjoy some ghost towns.

    I’ve been window shopping the online “ Marketplaces”, There have been a lot of dual sport bikes for sale throughout California. One was an African twin at kitted out. They sell fairly quick! I am always careful of front end washout on the sandy roads. Smooth and steady. The area where you live is beautiful! Love the drone shots at well! Bungee cord the box.

      Thank you! Yea the Africa twin would be a fun bike. I didn't think to bungee cord it! Thanks

    Good olo pozo, the good thing is the power you can lug it to get up things and not be reving trying to get up. Looks like the dirt was pretty nice after some of the rain you guys got this year. I am a dirt guy that rode street so I'm more comfortable on dirt in sketchy situations then pushing hard on the street. 🤙

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yea man I love Pozo, and the dirt is awesome out there right now but they don't want us riding the trails till after the rains, I can't wait though

    Pity that top pack acted like a fool! Good to know before you head out somewhere remote only to find half your stuff missing... Now you need to do a solo bike packing trip... :D

    I think, it’s not the fact that it’s heavy- -but it is top heavy - it took about 2000 miles until I got used to it.

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yea that's true, I guess I had been riding a T7 for a while which made this feel a little less top heavy but it is still a little top heavy
