@@morellif36 I meant that "maybe he is the next big thing" , sorry for my language in my comment but there is not such big thing after Michael jackson. Michael became the number one of the whole world taking multiple gramys home on one day, just by his talent to sing and dance but six nine actually gains his fame for things like snitching or trolling and that's not fair to say that he is next big thing. I'm not a hater of six nine.

It's crazy how this was also a world wide phenomenon. I'm German and I was 12 years old when he died and I remember the entire day like it was yesterday. Literally pictured the scenes inside of my head. And as you said, the only time I remember where it's similar is 9/11. I still know when I went to school and the first thing my friend said to me is that MJ is dead. First thing my chemistry teacher said was that MJ is dead. In my lifetime, I've never cried over a famous person's death except for when Michael Jackson died. I was watching the coverage of his hospitalization live on CNN, and when Wolf Blitzer confirmed that he had died, my heart dropped. I grew up being a die hard fan of Michael. One of the fondest memories I have is that I owned the red zipper jacket, a glove, and the black slacks and I would imitate him in the Beat It and Thriller videos in the living room of my childhood home. When he died, a part of me died with him. As a matter of fact, my childhood died on June 25, 2009. By far one of the saddest days of my life.

When my mom told me Michael died she did it with absolutely no emotion whatsoever because she was feeling so sad for my bereaved dad. It's a bit of an out of body experience watching the entire world react in shock when arguably the most famous human on the planet dies and the news doesn't really register because you're already dealing with a personal loss.

I think one of the things truly messed up about when Michael Jackson died is that for years he had been a laughingstock in the press and media, anytime somebody reported about him it was showing him in a bad light, "wacko jacko this, wacko jacko that". it's like they had completely forgotten that in the 80s and 90s he had been one of the biggest stars on the planet who had once sold out stadiums, and had sold millions of records, he had made some of the best selling music in history, he was also one of the first entertainers to break the color barrier on MTV when his music videos for his song thriller and Billie Jean first aired. It's like they forgot all that when they criticized his appearance, his voice, anything that they could do to get ratings and viewings at his expence. Hollywood wasn't any better, there were tons of jokes, and gags making fun of him that were inserted into movies at the time just for the sake of keeping them current.
After Michael Jackson passed on, all the sudden everybody, including those who had made fun of him were suddenly praising him and saying how much they loved him and how he was one of the greatest entertainers of all time and the world will never be the same again without him.
Here I am thinking "why couldn't they have said all those things when he was alive?" It might have even helped save his life!

    • @simplicitiess9703

Frenchanator I totally agree. Honestly, you spoke my mind. Jackson deserved more honor and respect, but honestly when he was still alive and well, doing the best he could, they didn’t care, but all of a sudden when they hear he has died, they want to show respect. Its so messed up I can’t even explain it. I personally love his music and still listen to it once in a while, but honestly, hearing his music makes me want to cry. I didn’t know he even existed in 2011, because I was too young to understand, and I wish I DID understand. But, all I’m trying to say is that I totally agree with you, and that I personally think Michael deserved more respect for his talent AND personality, because he was trying to raise the money he was earning to make a children’s hospital. That is so nice and generous I’m breathtaken. But yeah, I totally agree with you.

I remember clearly going to the hotel, and running up to the car, and banging on the window, and being up close to the King of Pop, who was wearing a black hat, sunglasses, and a red shirt. He had a smile on his face. I made him smile. I will always remember that moment. And I thought about it the day that I heard the sad news, that MJ was gone. Since returning to LA, I have stood outside the gates of the home he died at, and visited his tomb, to pay my respects. Rest in Peace Michael.

I became a fan of MJ back in middle school, 2007, through a friend. At the time so many were telling me he was a bad guy so I was a little hesitant to listen to his music and my god the moment I heard him sing, I was mesmerized. I soon began to investigate his past, his moments, the accusations. I watched his movies, his music videos, read books about him, and bought all movies he was in and albums. You could say I got obsessed with him because I had photos of him EVERYWHERE to the point where my parents got worried. I'd defend him from haters. I still remember June 25th. I was already on my last year of middle school and I had the best day of my life, when they took me home, my sister came out running these words: "Michael Jackson Died!" I dropped everything and ran inside and sure enough, every news channel had the headlines. I was too in shock to cry so I just listened to his albums all day long. The day it sunk in for me was his memorial and I cried, but I cried the hardest in the movie theater when I went to go watch "This Is It." Such an ironic title. I still love him and I still miss him. Love you MJ! You will always be the King of Pop!

I’ll never forget when i saw the news i was taking a shower and as i was drying off i heard the Motown 25 billie jean performance playing (I thought the movie the jacksons was on) so i ran to the living room after getting dressed and saw on the screen “Michael Jackson possibly dead” and my heart sank and kept wishing it wasn’t true

It's strange for me to see a smile on people's faces. If they told me that Michael Jackson died, I would burst into tears right there.

I got up in the morning to and my mom called me saying Michael Jackson is in the hospital. I told her he'll be fine. I sat down on the couch watching ALL of the news stations covering it as reports came in. He collapsed, or he had a heart attack. Then finally after a while, they announced he had died. I sat there quiet in shock. My family started calling each other about the news. I was 18 and crying. I couldn't believe he was so young and died.
