Nolan is pushing 75. You know who isn't? One Time World Champion Brent Honeywell Jr: Astros/Cards need to give him a 13-Year 650 Million Dollar Contract to be competitors.
i'd rather see Nado go than Noot, Walker, Gorman, Helsley, etc. At least GM/team can get some good value from Nado.. and look at Edman, Cardinals org trades players to where they want to go and they always look out for their players, former or otherwise.
The fact he rejected a trade to the Astro means he doesn't believe the Astros are that good anymore (despite having the Angels on his list to be traded to.)
Nolan Arenado said no to the Astros, and honestly, who can blame him? With Tucker gone and Bregman’s future up in the air, Houston doesn’t exactly scream ‘contender’ right now...
They're tougher than people give them credit for. They get Luis Garcia back on the mound this year. Framber, Hunter Brown, Luis Garcia lack star power but easily make a team competitive. I doubt Ronel Blanco repeats his 2024 but Arrighetti should improve as a respectable #5. Cristian Javier can help after the All-Star break, and Lance McCullers is quietly a very good pitcher if he comes back healthy. Personally I think the offense is going to be more problematic. Yordan, Pena, and Altuve will do their things, and I think Paredes has a massive breakout with the Crawford Boxes in that park. Yainer has proven reliable with the bat. But they still haven't solved their first base problem and that outfield is ass checks without Tucker. While I disagreed with trading Tucker to begin with, I'll ignore that since it's already done. Arenado would've been a massive help to them, as Paredes could move to 1st and then the infield would be set. They need some outfield help from their farm system badly this year, as Santander and Teoscar will go elsewhere and I still don't believe in Profar enough to pay 15 mil a year for him. The biggest thing for the Astros is that Seattle doesn't know how to hit a baseball and the Rangers constantly have massive injury question marks to their stars. 90 wins is all the winner of the division will need. And the rest of the AL is wide open at the moment. There's no juggernaut at the moment. While Cleveland will remain atop the Central, the Yankees will likely be a worse team than last year. I still think they make the playoffs, but they will likely take a small step back and Baltimore has yet to show its postseason merits. The way to win is avoid the Dodgers for as long as possible, and I still they can sniff the World Series.
@@parkercrossland410 Solid breakdown! The rotation has potential, but without Tucker, that outfield is a huge weakness. Arenado would’ve filled a big gap, but yeah, the division being wide open might keep them in the mix.
Jim Crane wants to save money and have a good contending team. It’s why the astros traded tucker away.I’m against Nolan coming to Houston as an Astros fan. I don’t wanna the Stros to have another Jose Abreu situation again. Save the money and spend it on deserving homegrown players like hunter brown or cheap prove it contracts.
After getting swept by the Tigers, trading Tucker, depleted pitching staff, and Bregman’s future in the air, I would have questions about the Astros too.
Pitching is the strongest thing the Astros have going and they were injured most of the year. Finished the year 6th in era. After the break the were 3rd in era, 2nd in BAA, and fifth in whip.
Although I agree last year everyone said the same thing and said Astros are now not gonna be competitive for 5-10 years after the first 2 months yet ended up winning the division I wouldn’t count them out until they officially miss the playoffs or else people look dumb like last year
Still would like a spot for him with my Dodgers or Rangers. For the Dodgers, they gotta get rid of CT3 and for the Rangers moving Jung somwhere off third. Nate is solid at 1st maybe slide Jung into the DH/Platoon?
Arenado probably just wants to retire by now but not before having a chance to either win it all or pass on his experience to other players with bright futures.
18 dingers, 71 RBI. Not a dude you back up the truck for. Thankfully, he said no, so the Stros went out and got Walker. The Stros are much better off with Walker at 1st, Peradas at 3rd.
Framber valdez hunter brown and ronel blanco are really good, cristian javier is still injured but could be one of the best pitchers in baseball when healthy, offense is definitely declining though
Astro’s were 6th in era on the year. After the break, they were even better 3rd in era, 5th in whip, 2nd in BAA. Plus they were injured. Getting back guys at some point next year.
@zanemath grow up already. Still crying bout smth that happened 8 years ago. I garuntee arenado couldn't care less bout what happened in 17. How many players are still there from 17? 1? Maybe 2?
As a long time Astro fan, I personally am very happy that Nolan Arenado "rejected" the Astros. He looked old and weak last year and has obviously seen his best years fade away. The Astros have been the winningest team in MLB over the past seven years, and they will continue to do just fine without an "overrated prima donna" like Arenado. Thank you Nolan for saying "no"! More to come for the Astros!
If Arenado wants to come back to CA, I only see Padres, Angels, Dodgers and maybe even SF Giants. Dodgers don't need a third baseman, do the Padres even have anyone to trade for him? They're also trying to offload money so I don't see the Padres being a good destination either. Looking more like Angels or Giants.
Yea, except the Angels don't have a wealth of prospects that they can afford to trade. In fact, they seem to have made the reasonable choice to hoard the high ranked prospects they currently have to hopefully improve the team in the long-run. Plus, the Angels are ignoring chances to add more players who have large contracts. Cody Bellinger would have made sense for the Angels to make an offer to the Cubs to get him, except for his oversized contract. Nolan Arenado will make more in 2025 than Bellinger will and has two years remaining after that, though at much lower costs. So I don't see the Angels even making an offer to the Cardinals for Arenado. San Francisco would make sense except they have Matt Chapman at third base who is three years younger than Arenado. Not only is Chapman younger, but he is a superior defender at third base and currently is a better defender than Arenado with more range. It's not that Arenado is bad, Chapman is just head and shoulders above him, so it doesn't make sense to move Chapman to second. I think that Nolan Arenado will either have to accept a trade to the Astros or widen the number of teams he will accept a trade to.
Padres has 2 of the greatest prospects in baseball but they weren't willing part with just one for crochet I doubt they will for arenado if stl pays arenados contract, maybe they would give up Isaiah Lowe or tirso ornelas
Honestly good for him. He’s a millionaire. He’s gonna move his family to what maybe be there home for a long time. Fuck being in the hot state of Texas, nothing pretty or cozy bout it unless you’re from there. If I’m his family in hoping for the west or east coast. He’s never been in a cool city. Colorado’s cool but for only some things. Good for him.
As an Astros fan, thank god. Unless the Cards ate a sizeable chunk of his contract, don't have any desire to be tied to another aging star for multiple years. Probably still a good defender, but that bat will be a liability.
I like how people are saying Nolan made a good choice but blocking the trade, but I feel like the Astros might luck out with just how much he might decline, we still need to make up with giving up King Tuck
@@marquisewright7229 only way I could see him being a dodger is if he starts playing 2B and they keep mookie in the outfield. I think the only thing the dodgers need to do is extend teoscar.
