At Costco business center in Georgia I just got 3 40 lbs cases, thighs 1.00 lb, bonesless breasts 1.79 lb, and legs .69 lb and it wasn’t on sale. You can also get a whole pork loin for 2.19 lb and break down in chops. We as a family go in together on cost and split it up. Such a money saver!
Don't forget to wash your hands before u touch the pressure cooker lid and controls. Nice to see someone else thinks about cross contamination!🎉So many people are clueless!
You are so right about little bits of saved energy from not having extra gadgets, Tawra. I feel validated often listening to your cooking videos because I do many of the same things. Every bit helps. Thanks for your continued videos.
I use a potato masher to shred my chicken/beef, smash up ground beef/sausage, push and twist, and mash potatoes. Not the potato masher with the square holes, the squiggly one. Three uses in one tool works for me.
I've gradually incorporated more & more of your time & energy saving tricks & love how much they help me & our family. Thanks Tawra! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
An amazing find earlier this week at my Dollar Tree, they had Gold Medal English Muffins(6ct pkg) for 25 cents each 😃on a clearance shelf. I did not know they had a clearance shelf. They expired May 4th today. Only bought 2, froze one. There were at least 12 or more pkgs. Just wanted to leave plenty for others. At my local Winco, 5lb bag of russet potatoes for .98 each. Cosmic Crisp, Fuji, and Honey Crisp apples all .98lb. This is a really good price for our area, Tulsa OK.
We had some Petrie dishes that we tested whether our vinegar sprayed wood cutting board was free of bacteria. It took two weeks before anything started growing. Good enough for me!
Depends on the strain of bacteria, every bacteria grows at different rate.
Were you using it to cut raw chicken?
@@Myfavorites877 The last use was definitely a raw meat, but I don't remember if it was chicken. We had certainly used chicken, though.
It also depends on what agar you used as well, regarding bacteria growth
I've gotten those big boxes of chicken! They were $25 at a discount grocery store. Dealing with it was a big pain, but definitely worth it.
We did the same but went one step further. We grilled most of the chicken and then vacuum wrapped and put it into our freezer. The other is for me to make chicken fingers and stir fry. Also we get two 10 lbs of ground beef. I cooked one and add salt and pepper only and put it into vacuum wrap and when I need to cook taco's, spaghetti, etc. The other one I bake burger and meatloaf patties and vacuum them as well. So when I'm preparing my week out all the meats are cooked and all I do is to decide which vegetables to add to our dinners. Their is only two of us and so far it last us for about six months.
@@patrimill7 I canned a whole case of chicken breasts once. I loved convenience of being able to open a jar of chicken and just heat it for things like enchiladas, sandwiches, soups, etc.
@@patrimill7excellent ideas.
What discount store do you buy the chicken?
Thank you
@@barbaratankersley7117 There's a small locally owned store in the town near where I live called Sunnydale...I've seen them at others as well.
We can get drumsticks @ .59 a lb and quarters @ .69 lb in 10 lb bags. Been doing this for the last couple of years
I have had good success getting odors out of plastic by leaving them (in a way they don't blow away) on one of my patio chairs for a couple days in the hot summer sun.
I marinate chicken tenders overnight in pickle juice. Then, I use homemade seasoned bread crumbs (garlic, onion, dill, etc), and bread them and bake them in the oven. They're so so good. With the added dill, you do need to enjoy pickle flavor. But, if you do, you're in for a treat.
Pickle juice in Cole slaw instead of vinegar is wonderful...if making salad dressing, use pickle juice instead of vinegar...much more flavorful!
I use vinegar only for spraying veggies, as cannot use bleach on veggies. Bleach for cleaning up after chicken is a must. This is per my Microbiology class in college.
$91/ 20 minutes is equivalent of $237/ hour of untaxed income.
I LIKE your thinking!!👍
YEP!!!!!! You hit the nail on the head!
You mean $273???
@@vickiethompson9245 Yes, 273! I came from a great kindergarten with a number of the essentials required for reading including a McMillian reader series eager to learn how to read beyond the reader - to Sally Dick and Jane. The second day of school, I asked by we only had 26 letters of which many to most had more than one sound we had to figure out when reading. Was told about a couple of different ancient languages that did that. That day after school, I took the notes to parents and teachers in my math book and the newspaper then assigned sounds to different letter combinations as if they were letters, memorized them, and taught myself to read just like they teach many dyslexics today. I ended up in bed for 6 weeks and home beyond that beginning in December and read Call of the Wild as my first book 'cause I was bored and that was on the book shelf.- I was never tested but there are clear indicators that had i gone through school 20 or 30 years later, i probably would have been tested. They pop up every now and then like 237 vs 273 (lol).
I use disposable vinyl gloves but the restaurant type are cheap at Sam's but they are huge.I also open all the bags and roll down the tops, before I get started. Fill all your bags after cutting all the meat. Then remove the gloves and seal the bags. Less mess on the outside of the bags. 😊
I'm soooooo thankful you mentioned whipping off the bleach to clean. So many are not disinfecting smh.
You got a great deal!!!
We moved away from plastic storage in favor of glass food storage a long, long time ago. Getting it clean was the initial factir but then the reports of food contamination from the plastic were surfacing. We took our time and paid particular attention to the (then, ?now) to the fall, college, specially made glass container bundles; particularly at Walmart and particularly on clearance. We also watched for the boxed sets of Pyrex (and the sales) that are among the holiday offerings. Our local Kroger name plate did have BOGO a coiple of times per year too; often at what seemed to be funny times so i stashed money for when they came up. - BTW While it feels funny, using then stacking some of the smaller rectangular glass food storage with lids sure works out well.
We have, too, but I admit I still use the plastic bag from time to time. I have found that my glass does not work well in the freezer, so I never use glass there.
Thank you for the extension on the 50% discount.
Tawra please tell me where you were able to order the box of chicken. Thanks so much.
My store had it on sale.
I have so many people swear that bleach is poisonous but that's how we cleaned years ago
Great video and super tips also!
Awwww. Your old kitchen in Colorado. 😍
I made the Easy chicken spinach cassserole this week. Not sure which book it is from as it was in a recent email, but it was absolutely delicious and, oh, so easy!
A piece of all natural charcoal (no chemicals added) works great to neutralize odors in plastic and glass.
Thanks for the tip Carrie.
Your hair looks beautiful pulled back and curls added
Such a beautiful lady with wonderful advice!
Gloves would be good to wear when touching meat.
I LOVE your sink
Me too!
I think she dislikes it now. I love the look.
Can you do a video or show on how to use an instant pot? I have that brand and it's complicated and rocket science?
If you live near a Costco Business center you can chicken by the case.
It's the best deal on chicken around!!!!!!!
YESSSSS!!! VINEGAR DOESN'T WORK I WAS IN THE FOOD BIZ
I love this video going back thru . You look so young now
May I ask where did you get your kitchen sink?
You look beautiful!! Love your sink and love your recipes n tips !!
I'm definitely a bleacher
Please do a video on how you do your hair! It is beautiful.
That's great..
Did you have the trivet in your instant pot?
We dont use much for boxed kleenex, but i like your baggie storage idea!
I use an old baggie box for storage!
My wife spraysPam into our contanters to keep stains away. Works great
I have a smelly and somewhat gummy old Tupperware container but it's not dirty. I think it's from the plastic breaking down. It probably really just needs to be disposed or at least repurposed for something other than food. That might be what this person you were addressing in the video meant.
Make a paste with water and baking soda and rub it around then rinse it. Sort of like cleaning something with a cleanser.
I hear ya on the bleach…. When I worked one of my first fast food jobs…… we washed dishes and rinsed in a ratio ( health department guidelines) ration of hot water and bleach…. Again, working with Boy Scouts, and when often cleaning cooking gear ( mind you…. It often sat out on towel mats / drained ….before it even had dried, Boys dried the last off…. A super small portion of bleach was in the rinse process…. Again, I had worked with a class room of many beautiful children, but with so many needs…. Some children were struggling with sever mental issues, some just huge physical set backs , and yet other children had both against them….. each day, we cleaned all that we could spray wipe down/sanitize with a bleach and water mixture ratio. lol again…. People need to realize that the bleach dissipates on its own and is not harmful…..
Thank you to whom it is I’m given a 👍🏻… ( and yes thumb is only my color…. ) our world, and life in it, it is a rainbow……and a connected journey through it all…. Meant for us all to be together?… accepting?
)
Believe it or not missionaries use a bleach solution to wash food
You failed to mention where you were able to purchase the chicken, unless I didn’t catch it.
Her local store had it on sale. I think she said she paid $69 for the box.
Does alcohol disinfect?
Albertson's has thighs chicken leggs legg quarters and whole chicken 90 cents
I don't see that in my add this week?
Was last week 99 cents sorry
When is Jill coming back…we miss her and she helps your number of views too!!! Bless Jill and everybody
She's been on the lives the past few weeks.
We save the really nasty zip bags to put ones and meat scraps and keep maggots out of our garage can
Can we talk about your kitchen sink! I love, love, love it,my grandmother had a sink like that. Please wash the outside of your baggie.😊
Within this video's first 33 seconds, me: already "Clutching My Pearls!" HANDLING RAW CHICKEN WITH BARE HANDS!! 😵💫
(AND the immediately near-by dish sponge's resting place - Bacteria City! BACTERIA CITY!🤢)
There's absolutely nothing wrong with touching chicken with your hands. Soap and water exist. 😂
Dana., I agree. And parchment paper on the counter to stop contamination too.
❤
Tawra, there is no R in wash, or washer. My mom said it the way you do. I like your videos
I used to do that, too, and it took me weeks just to teach myself to say it without the r, then two years before I used it consistently. I have a really pronounced Southern accent and a very long r drawl. 😂
I will be formally submitting the words "smellify" and "desmellify" along with their definitions, to the following dictionaries of the English language: Oxford, Funk and Wagnell's, The American Heritage, and Webster's.
Bleach for everything. Hair teeth, etc.
Please wash your chicken. I never eat chicken unless I wash it. Ever been to a chicken plant?
Hello..Thank you for the tips on chicken .. But you have chicken juice all over your hands and than you touched all the zip lock bags and even set the bag on your cutting board !! also with the insta pot you are touching all your spices .. anyway Please be careful with that as you know it is so dangerous ! thank you for your video
You didn't listen to what I said.
She said she washes/wipes everything with bleach water after.
you guys must not eat much....that would never last my house 5 days
❤
