I’m excited for Alone in the Dark for the 20s horror and Star Wars Outlaws for steering away from Jedi like it’s trying to give the experience that 1313 could have delivered. Also hyped for Warhammer Space Marine 2.
I'm really hoping for Max Payne to come and surprise us in 2024 or even just a trailer of the remake, really hoping Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will release in October and I'm hoping Spiderman 2 will get a Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer type of DLC

This method worked for Cyberpunk and I could not be happier.
The biggest thing that could happen for me is a new Nintendo console. I was struggling really badly with my mental health the year before the pandemic, and nothing was bringing me any happiness. In the middle of all that I had to perform cpr on my then 5 month old baby (he's fine now btw, a very big fan of Mario Wonder). The point of me writing down all this misery is because thats what buying the Switch brought me out of. It was the first thing that started to make me happy, it got me through the pandemic, it made games become my coping mechanism after years of feeling like I had no time to play. I owe the nintendo switch so much for pulling me out of a dark place, but its been gathering dust, with a small break when Tears of the Kingdom came out. Nintendo is my happy place, but my happy place has become a little stale lately.
Rise of ronin for me. Team ninja confirmed it won’t be souls like which is a plus in my book. It also have 3 difficulty options. Story driven difficulty, normal difficulty and the last difficulty was stated to be for “hardcore players who are familiar with team ninja games”. Can’t wait for this game
Yeah not every action game needs souls difficulty lol, having played Lies of P, Lords of the Fallen, and Armored Core VI back to back I'm good when it comes to that for a while!
To be totally honest, all the games I was excited for came out this year. So the most I really hope for is for capcom to announce the next RE game. Which hopefully will be 2024 judging by the pace of their last few releases
@UniverseGlider I know Capcom has Dragon's Dogma coming 2024, and then is supposed to have Monster Hunter Wilds come out 2025 too. They been putting in some serious work
I’m glad someone said this. The year so far is looking like the big releases are for a specific type of gamer and not a ton of mass appeals games like 2023 Which I’m not complaining about, perfect year for backlog grinding
What games were highlights for you then because I only bought 1 game all throughout 2023 and that was Lethal Company which I’ve only played two or three times
@emiel255 you have to ask? These weren't even my highlights but there are some really obvious ones. Harry potter Final Fantasy 16 and crisis core Mortal kombat Star wars Baulders gate Spider man Legend of zelda Re4
I’m a lurker but when Wolf Among Us is mentioned… The first game is amazing, great story and setting, it goes on sale often, play it! I really hope season 2 comes out…
THIS guy. I keep coming back to this channel. JB's cadance and presentation style is evocative. I believe him. Damn, I sincerely hope this platform can give him the revenue to keep doing these shows (both here and on BecauseVideoGames). Bravo, sir.
Especially because only the fights give me souls like vibes, which I'm fine with. Otherwise it feels like a much more colorful and RPG-y experience, if that makes sense (I know Souls games are RPG, but for me, they never really delivered the elements that for me at least, make an RPG a true RPG, dialogue and story).
Relating to your talk on Eastern European post-apocalyptic stuff - I highly recommend Darkwood if you haven’t already tried it. It’s pure nightmare fuel and you’ll love/hate it, it’s certainly an experience on an OLED screen with the lights off.
I'm looking forward to Hell Divers 2, Dragons Dogma 2, and hopefully ARC Raiders comes out as well (from studio who made THE FINALS) - I played the first beta test with my friend and it was pretty fun/has good core gameplay but just needed more content and its been at least half a year since I played the beta so hoping it makes a return in 2024 and is released.
1. Hellblade 2 2. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden 3. Dragon's Dogma 2 ... Rise of the Ronin, Warhammer 40k: Space Marine, Black Myth: Wukong, Final Fantasy 16 PC
FFVII Rebirth is big for me, but the two ones I can't wait for most is Hollow Knight: Silksong and Eiyuden Chronicles. Suikoden is an all-time fav of mine and I can't wait for the spiritual successor. I was a backer for that project, long time coming!
Hellblade 2 is one of the games I'm most looking forward to for 2024, especially after having just finished the first Hellblade and greatly enjoying it. Outside of that, Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor ReFantazio from Atlus are two games I'm really excited for. I honestly think P3R might be my GOTY for 2024.
@@JakeBaldino Thanks lol. The fact that Metaphor ReFantazio has both turn-based AND real time combat at the same time is really awesome. I think the only games I have ever seen do a similar thing before are the Trails games.
@@chickengenius4202 You do you but I thought the first game was quite good. Combat was pretty simple but combat wasn't the main focus of the game I think. More so the puzzles and the immersive story. Either way, still really impressive for a game made by like 20 people. If you didn't like the first game, the second probably won't be for you as well. Though I do think combat will be improved in the sequel, just not dramatically to the point of it becoming a non-stop hack-and-slash.
@@jimmythegamer2231 I agree. The combat and puzzles were simple, but the game is short and has excellent pacing. I found the lack of stuff like level ups and gear/loot refreshing. We have so many of those every year. Plus, Hellblade integrates psychosis not only as a story element but as a unique mechanic. Perfect example of gameplay and story being intertwined, not awkwardly separate.
Happy new year Jake. Back in 7th grade my friend Chris showed me gameranx during e3…. So so many years later … we still kicking. It’s truly something awesome. This time. Pizzas on me.
There's probably a bunch coming that I'm just not thinking of but the three I think about most often is FF7, Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor. I've been really into Fantasy lately so I'm interested to see Atlus's take on the genre. Edit: Hopefully some news on some of those new Silent Hill games? Silent Hill F looks amazing.
1. Elden Ring DLC - Shadow of the Edtree 2. Black Myth: Wukong 3. Stalker 2 4. Dragon's Dogma 2 5. Atomic Heart - Trapped in Limbo (I won their DLC game pass key to which I am playing the game on Game Pass.)
The fact that you brought up Tomb Raider trilogy remake 😭😭😭 nobody talking about it.. and so far .. most anticipated games.. this is the real Lara fans always wanted back 😭❤️ so thank uou for mentioning her
I'm planning on trying something different next year, and trying to use 2024 as a backlog year (ive wrote a list of roughly 40 games in my backlog, i know i'm going to be addicted to GTA 6 in 2025, so it's now or never lol) I've given myself 5 games maximum i can buy at release - mentally used 2 already in Suicide Squad + Rise Of The Ronin lol And ive got a handful of byes if they release next year - Ghost Of Tsushima 2, i'm looking at you 👁
Warhammer 40k's on my bye list too! I'm sold on the minigun gameplay, i know that's going to feel ridiculously fun on the dualsense controller Wolf Among Us 2! I forgot about that one, i need to put that on my GOT2 list lol
Same I haven't played Dave The Diver, Dredge, Jedi Survivor, Alan Wake 2 and a bunch of other games from this year yet. They all seem more exciting than most of 2024 titles. I do have Game Pass though so if something decent comes to that.
Avowed is the only 2024 game I’m really super duper truly eager to play. I enjoyed Outer Worlds enough to see that Obsidian can do it, I just love the fantasy setting *so much more* than the sci-fi/apocalypse setting of TOW or Fallout. If Avowed is just “What if Outer Worlds, but make it Elder Scrolls-themed”, I’ll be happy. I’m playing through Pillars Of Eternity right now, due to my love for BG3 and fear of losing my BG3 saves, and the lore is incredible. If the world is even half as complex and compelling as it is in POE, with the combat of TES, and the world/level design of TOW… It’ll probably be my GOTY. (Edit: I totally forgot about Dragons Dogma 2. Avowed will still be my most anticipated, but DD2 will be great too(
FF7 Rebirth for sure, I do understand that people are frustrated that it's broken up into 3 parts now, I too express frustration, as it'll be a while before we see the remake story finished, but I would like to remind people that once you leave Midgar, even in the OG game, the game opens up more, super huge part of the game, meeting Cid, Cait Sith, Vincent, and dealing with the Turks, etc. I'm also willing to see what it's like keeping Zack alive in this one. Also, I'm excited for Tekken 8, I've been playing the demo and with only a few characters they let you use, the game is a lot of fun, faster than Tekken 7 even! Stalker 2 is also on my list, the first one going back to it, was like Escape From Tarkov before that was a thing, and I've always thought about the Metro series as well.
Only two games I can think of off the top of my head is Paper Mario Thousand Year Door remake and Warhammer 2. I really mainly catching up on games in general since getting out my depression stage for the last couple of years then also getting trapped in the COD loop for a while. So been playing almost anything honestly
Surprised Avowed didn't make the list. While I wish it was PoE3, I'm still very excited to see what Obsidian can do on a Microsoft budget. Especially after their success with their takes on Fallout/Fallout-likes as they now take on an Elder Scrolls-like project
Oh shit I completely forgot about this game. I am very hyped about this. I'm really hoping Crimson Desert comes out next year as well (though with how ambitious it looks they should take as long as they need to finish it).
My brain doesn’t comprehend being burnt out on SoulsLikes. I could literally play one after the other indefinitely until i die. My list: FFVII Rebirth Rise of Ronin Granblue Fantasy Dragons Dogma 2 Black Myth Wukong Phantom Blade Stellar Blade Where Winds Meet (And hopefully) Silksong
The fact that Heilung is gonna make the music for Hellblade 2 is absolutely jawdropping, one of the best live experiences ive ever had, music of the year is basically already set at least for me
@@jimmythegamer2231 fun fact, she was originally just acting as a placeholder being a dev herself until they find a professional mocap actress but she did such a great job that they just rolled with her for the full game, she even won a big award that year
Oh, and happy new year to you, Jake, the entire Gameranx crew (yes I realize this is his own channel and has nothing to do with them) and anyone reading this! Cheers!!!🎉
I know these two ideas sound like a long shot but I’m gonna text it anyway. The main two games that I would like to play in 2024 is the KOTOR remake(which has plenty of work done already) and more campaign content for Halo infinite. It’s so bizarre that 343 has completely avoided the campaign when it comes to DLC. They haven’t even given the Campaign brand new weapons. So bizarre. A bonus game for me in 2024 is the FF7 remake part 2. 😎👍🏼
Unfortunately I don't think either of those are gonna happen. KOTOR Remake is on ice right now and even if it doesn't get cancelled is probably several years away, and 343 already confirmed that they are not gonna make any campaign DLC for Halo Infinite and focus solely on improving/fixing the multiplayer for Halo Infinite, which they have done a good job of recently. On the bright side tho, there is another Halo game in development at Certain Affinity, and this one could have a new campaign, but that too is probably a 2025 game.
One game that I’m highly anticipating that’s coming out at the end of January is Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. Every fan of the Yakuza series is waiting for this game as not only does it look like the biggest Yakuza game yet & not only is it a continuation of Ichiban Kasuga’s story from Yakuza Like a Dragon, but the game is also looking to be a proper finale to Kazuma Kiryu’s story.
I just played the original Tomb Raider for the first time last month and it was SO much fun. It's one of those games I'm regretting not playing sooner. The main reason I hadn't was because of the controls, but the controls weren't nearly as bad as I remembered them being. I'm very much looking forward to playing the second and third games with the remasters!
There is a lot of game to anticipate this year : 1. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth 2. Dragon's Dogma 2 3. Rise of the Ronin 4. Black Myth: Wukong 5. Hades 2 6. Hollow Knight: Silksong 7. No Rest for the Wicked 8. Windblown 9. Earthblade 10. Timespinner 2: Unwoven Dream 11. Replaced 12. Mariachi Legends 13. Tale of Ronin 14. The First Berseker Khazan
My most anticipated in no order: Alone in the Dark, Homeworld 3, STALKER 2, Space Marine 2, Star Wars Outlaws, Prince of Persia ...and maybe in 2024 *fingers crossed* : Routine, Metal Slug Tactics, No Rest for the Wicked, and Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth
I know there are concerns about it, but everything that's been released about Palworld has me so excited. Survival crafting, 3rd person shooting, monster collecting and battling, it looks so much fun and I'm so excited.
I’m so glad you mentioned Tomb Raider! I’m such a huge fan and cannot wait for these remasters. We’ve been begging for YEARS to have these on modern consoles and that day is finally almost here, and I’m glad my man Jake has great taste! 💅
Dragon's Dogma 2 is the big one for me. Also hoping Vampire Masquerade 2 finally gets released. Also, no release date yet, but I really want to see the new Fable. Hopefully, if nothing else, we get a solid date for it next year
Im hyped for nightingale, I'm a bit of a crafting/survival junkie and if this game hits, it has the chance to redefine the genre. I originally thought it was going to be an rpg, but I'm pumped that it's a survival game.
1. Hyper Light Breaker 2. Skate Story (thanks to you lol) 3. Animal Well 4. Paper Mario TTYD Remake 5. Venture to the Vile Also Metroid Prime 4 wouldnt hurt!
I’m wrapping up games like Vampyr, Immortal Fenyx Rising, RD2, Alan Wake Remastered, DAH. All games I’ve started and finished a lot of just need to finish them. Wanna start Ragnarok, Spider Man 2, Jedi Survivor, Atlas Fallen, Ad Infinitum, among others.

@@cenciende9401 i agree 💯
@liquidsword601 can’t wait bro! 🔥
Enshrouded - jan 4 2024 the 1 I'm looking forward to the most
To be totally honest, all the games I was excited for came out this year. So the most I really hope for is for capcom to announce the next RE game. Which hopefully will be 2024 judging by the pace of their last few releases
Same. I don't think there's anything as exciting as 23 for me.
@UniverseGlider I know Capcom has Dragon's Dogma coming 2024, and then is supposed to have Monster Hunter Wilds come out 2025 too. They been putting in some serious work
I’m glad someone said this. The year so far is looking like the big releases are for a specific type of gamer and not a ton of mass appeals games like 2023
Which I’m not complaining about, perfect year for backlog grinding
What games were highlights for you then because I only bought 1 game all throughout 2023 and that was Lethal Company which I’ve only played two or three times
@emiel255 you have to ask? These weren't even my highlights but there are some really obvious ones.
Harry potter
Final Fantasy 16 and crisis core
Mortal kombat
Star wars
Baulders gate
Spider man
Legend of zelda
Re4
I watch you for the positivity towards gaming, it's very refreshing, please keep it up
I’m a lurker but when Wolf Among Us is mentioned… The first game is amazing, great story and setting, it goes on sale often, play it! I really hope season 2 comes out…
Its listed on epic store coming soon wolf among us 2
Waited this long for Wolf among us 2, I’m willing to wait for it to be completed. I love Fables.
THIS guy. I keep coming back to this channel. JB's cadance and presentation style is evocative. I believe him. Damn, I sincerely hope this platform can give him the revenue to keep doing these shows (both here and on BecauseVideoGames). Bravo, sir.
I think gameranxs definitely keeps him afloat for these smaller channels
In case you don’t hear it enough, I thoroughly enjoy your general optimism and it’s a big reason I follow your channel and gameranx
I know everyone is burnt out on souls likes but I'm really excited to see how Black Myth Wukong turns out
I need Rise of Ronin to hold me over, but DAMN I NEED THAT JOURNEY TO THE WEST arc
Yeasssssss
GOTY prediction for black myth. It looks incredible.
Not really a souls like seems more witcher eske
1. Hellblade 2
2. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
3. Dragon's Dogma 2
...
Same, but I'm on PC, so won't be holding my breath.
Mines is ER Shadow of the Erdtree and Dragon Quest 3 hd2d. Think that's it...
I wouldn't wait on Silksong. Every year that's on my list and every year it doesn't turn up.
You and me both. I'm using pto to play Eiyuden 😂
@@hapwn FF7 Rebirth is a 3 month PS5 exclusive, so chances are it will come to PC later on in 2024
@@jimmythegamer2231 does that include Steam? Last time they said that it took almost 2 years because of EPIC. FU EPIC! 🖕
Man nobody talking about silent hill 2 remake, I think it will be amazing!!! Can’t wait. Thumbs up if u can’t wait for it like me 🎉
Hellblade 2 is one of the games I'm most looking forward to for 2024, especially after having just finished the first Hellblade and greatly enjoying it.
Outside of that, Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor ReFantazio from Atlus are two games I'm really excited for. I honestly think P3R might be my GOTY for 2024.
great list. Metaphor ReFantazio looks so unique
@@JakeBaldino Thanks lol. The fact that Metaphor ReFantazio has both turn-based AND real time combat at the same time is really awesome. I think the only games I have ever seen do a similar thing before are the Trails games.
The first one, cool story but kinda lame combat. I’ll just watch the cutscenes
Jake you my internet gaming homie. Much love bro.
Helldivers 2 is going to be underrated just like the first game. I can’t wait to play it!!
Hell yeah brother was looking for this
It wasn't.
Well looks like the game that dropped and was a suprise was Helldivers 2!
Almost time for 2024 Pizza Time 😭. Have a good new year to Jake and everyone 🫱🏽🫲🏼
Happy New Year! and thanks for watching. I appreciate it 🍕
On the VR side of things, im really looking forward to Wanderer, vertigo 2, phasmophobia, and Madison coming to psvr2
Based VR enjoyer
@@SwirlyTwirl ?
Also Into the radius 2
Rich dude
0:08 im feeling so old now. i feel like 2015 was yesterday, damn.
I’m really hyped up for Infinite Wealth. Like a Dragon had such a likeable cast and I really want to see where they end up next
If they have a way I can spam Kiryus free combat mode, I'll play it. The turn based was extremely repetitive and single attack spam for me tbh.
@@FeiFongWang Yeah I’m kinda used to that so didn’t bother me too much. The different variety of jobs kept things fresh for me too
FF7 Rebirth
Space marine 2
Metaphor Refantazio
Persona 3 Reload
Infinite Wealth
Can’t wait to see what banger GameMill is working on next! 🔥
They never disappoint. Lol
Yessir 😭
I hope they do a DreamWorks ip next
Happy new year Jake. Back in 7th grade my friend Chris showed me gameranx during e3…. So so many years later … we still kicking. It’s truly something awesome.
This time. Pizzas on me.
There's probably a bunch coming that I'm just not thinking of but the three I think about most often is FF7, Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor. I've been really into Fantasy lately so I'm interested to see Atlus's take on the genre. Edit: Hopefully some news on some of those new Silent Hill games? Silent Hill F looks amazing.
Honestly, my goal for 2024 is to get a comma and wake up in 2025 when GTAVI is out.
How much more traditional can you get than 2D Prince of Persia? I like that it’s going back to its roots.
Great list, Jake. We have a lot of anticipated games in common. I hope 24 has a lot of great games as 23.
Two of my most hyped games are HollowKnight Silksong. And the new game from the Ori Devs, (think it was called no rest for the wicked)
will 2024 be the year of Silksong? it really feels like it but I've been wrong with it before
Really, really hope so...
1. Elden Ring DLC - Shadow of the Edtree
2. Black Myth: Wukong
3. Stalker 2
4. Dragon's Dogma 2
5. Atomic Heart - Trapped in Limbo (I won their DLC game pass key to which I am playing the game on Game Pass.)
Dude I can't wait to play Fantasy VII Rebirth, Tekken 8, DD2, Alone in the dark and Phantom Blade 0 as well 👀🔥
The fact that you brought up Tomb Raider trilogy remake 😭😭😭 nobody talking about it.. and so far .. most anticipated games.. this is the real Lara fans always wanted back 😭❤️ so thank uou for mentioning her
I'm planning on trying something different next year, and trying to use 2024 as a backlog year (ive wrote a list of roughly 40 games in my backlog, i know i'm going to be addicted to GTA 6 in 2025, so it's now or never lol)
I've given myself 5 games maximum i can buy at release - mentally used 2 already in Suicide Squad + Rise Of The Ronin lol
And ive got a handful of byes if they release next year - Ghost Of Tsushima 2, i'm looking at you 👁
Warhammer 40k's on my bye list too! I'm sold on the minigun gameplay, i know that's going to feel ridiculously fun on the dualsense controller
Wolf Among Us 2!
I can barely play 1 game a month, backlog always grows, never shrinks...
@@cenciende9401 lately I barely buy any new games in all throughout 2023 I’ve bought only one game and that was legal company😅
Wow warhammer 40k space marine 2 I played the first on Xbox 360 I didn't know it was getting a sequel
If Vampire: The Masquerade is going to come out, it would be nice to see the original get a touch-up and re-release.
That would be awesome
For me it’s by far Like a Dragon 8, I love all of the Yakuza, Like a dragon games, so I’m really excited for it.
The game I’ve been waiting for ever since the announcement is HellBlade 2!
big same
1. FF7 Rebirth
2. Elden Ring expansion (surely coming out some time in 2024)
3. Dragon's Dogma 2
Good Choice!
Sadly, I'm guessing that will be pushed to 2025, based on how these things have gone recently.
My list:
FFVII Rebirth
Rise of Ronin
Granblue Fantasy
Dragons Dogma 2
Black Myth Wukong
Phantom Blade
Stellar Blade
Where Winds Meet
(And hopefully) Silksong
The fact that Heilung is gonna make the music for Hellblade 2 is absolutely jawdropping, one of the best live experiences ive ever had, music of the year is basically already set at least for me
And performance of the year as well probably because Melena Jeurgens has showed she is a really great actress
@@jimmythegamer2231 fun fact, she was originally just acting as a placeholder being a dev herself until they find a professional mocap actress but she did such a great job that they just rolled with her for the full game, she even won a big award that year
Space marine on the 360 probably is my favourite game from the 360 generation I love it and I can’t wait for number 2❤
Senua's Sacrifice was a very cool game, I really liked the ending and it is very cool in VR, looking forward to the next one.
Oh, and happy new year to you, Jake, the entire Gameranx crew (yes I realize this is his own channel and has nothing to do with them) and anyone reading this! Cheers!!!🎉
Best Jake declaration of 2023:
“Sexy vampires… let’s do it.” 😂
YES!!
On the bright side tho, there is another Halo game in development at Certain Affinity, and this one could have a new campaign, but that too is probably a 2025 game.
kotor remake is put on hold bruh where have you been living under?
Elden Ring DLC. That’s what I wanna play
There is a lot of game to anticipate this year :
1. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
2. Dragon's Dogma 2
3. Rise of the Ronin
4. Black Myth: Wukong
5. Hades 2
6. Hollow Knight: Silksong
7. No Rest for the Wicked
8. Windblown
9. Earthblade
10. Timespinner 2: Unwoven Dream
11. Replaced
12. Mariachi Legends
13. Tale of Ronin
14. The First Berseker Khazan
My most anticipated in no order: Alone in the Dark, Homeworld 3, STALKER 2, Space Marine 2, Star Wars Outlaws, Prince of Persia
...and maybe in 2024 *fingers crossed* : Routine, Metal Slug Tactics, No Rest for the Wicked, and Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth
I know there are concerns about it, but everything that's been released about Palworld has me so excited. Survival crafting, 3rd person shooting, monster collecting and battling, it looks so much fun and I'm so excited.
It’s easy to listen to Jake because he seems honest and that’s valuable
my most anticipated games for 2024 are
Metal gear solid 3 remake
Wukong black myth
Dragons dogma 2
Wukong is really the game I'm excited to play.
I’m so glad you mentioned Tomb Raider! I’m such a huge fan and cannot wait for these remasters. We’ve been begging for YEARS to have these on modern consoles and that day is finally almost here, and I’m glad my man Jake has great taste! 💅
“See you around… wolf” I NEEEEEEED IT
Dragon's Dogma 2 is the big one for me. Also hoping Vampire Masquerade 2 finally gets released. Also, no release date yet, but I really want to see the new Fable. Hopefully, if nothing else, we get a solid date for it next year
Frostpunk got me back into city builders after like 10 years. I've been psyched for the sequel for ages.
Im hyped for nightingale, I'm a bit of a crafting/survival junkie and if this game hits, it has the chance to redefine the genre. I originally thought it was going to be an rpg, but I'm pumped that it's a survival game.
Would love to see Death Trash get a full relase, been in Early Access for a long time.
1. Hyper Light Breaker
2. Skate Story (thanks to you lol)
3. Animal Well
4. Paper Mario TTYD Remake
5. Venture to the Vile
Also Metroid Prime 4 wouldnt hurt!
Way to start out a video Jake. Reminding me of the unstoppable force of inevitable death. Happy 2024!
Looking forward for Dragons Dogma 2, Star wars Outlaws and Stalker 2 the most
btw Happy New Year Jake

Metaphor Refantazio
Big year for JRPGs!
