After starting as a game show parody on YTV variety series “It’s Alive!,” “Uh Oh!” quickly became a household hit, airing from 1997 to 2003 and becoming YTV’s third longest-running show.
With a simple premise - three teams of two gained points by spinning a big wheel and performing a specific task - the real hero of the show was the brightly coloured slime.
If a player landed on the show’s “Uh Oh!” space on the wheel and answered the accompanying question incorrectly, his or her teammate would be doused in gooey slime, courtesy of a masked man known as The Punisher.
Created by Rick Watts and Frank Young, “Uh Oh!” was hosted by the energetic Wink Yahoo (Scott Yaphe), who sported a sky-high do’ and sequined blazers. Yaphe, who went on to do some acting and is now an energy healer in Toronto, still speaks of the show fondly. He told Vice he keeps in touch with the “Uh Oh!” cast and still gets asked about all that slime.
The show also featured some familiar up and coming Canadian actors and comedians like Shaun Majumder and Ryan Belleville, who helped host competition segments from across the country, known as the Slime Tour.
“Uh Oh!” wasn’t the first time slime had been in the spotlight - it had become a running gag on CTV’s 80s hit “You Can’t Do That on Television,” which featured Canadian singing superstar Alanis Morissette.
“Uh Oh!” was filmed at Global Television studios in Toronto.
"The Search For Canada's Game Shows" is a six-episode documentary series that takes you on a trip down memory lane featuring interviews with game show icons like Howie Mandel and Wink Martindale. You'll learn how an American quiz show scandal became a boon to Canada's game show industry, enjoy a look at the early careers of game show legends like Monty Hall and Alex Trebek, and get the behind-the-scenes stories of how some of Canada's most inventive game shows like "The Mad Dash" and "Bumper Stumpers" came to be.
The series is also a hunt for game show footage thought lost to time. History has not been kind to some of Canada's finest game show entries; due to the practice of wiping, some have been almost completely erased from the archives. However, we've dug deep to unearth classic footage from all of your favourite shows, including home video recordings from viewers like you!
"The Search for Canada's Game Shows" is narrated by Wayne Cox, the host of fan favourites like "Acting Crazy," "Talk About" and "Second Honeymoon." Join us on January 16th at 7 PM for a special two-episode premiere!
My older brother was a contestant on the Green Team. I remember my mom tape recorded his episode but we lost it after watching it once unfortunately :( ... 20 years later I decide right now to go through every episode to find him!!! If my math is right and with age and all, his episode should have been aired in 2001. Wish me luck!!!!!
Did you find it?
What’s your brother’s name?
🕳📺📼🧭✨Your brothers episode of Uh Oh has definitley fallen into the dark hole of 1990s television. Like so many other wonderfully disasterous things from the 90s, it shall remain lost... yet never forgotten ✨📼 🕳🤷🏻♀😶🌫🤔🧐Lol 💔
"Whats your bloodtype?" .... "I dunno" lmao this killed me
5 Speed Rounds in one round! WOW! That must be a record!
ytv at one point wasa like way ahead of the times. it was wihtout a doubt the best kids tv channel for a few years.
Everyone could just feel the excitement on the first day; Holey cow. Happy 25 Uh-Oh! 🎉🎉🎉
Last I heard, Sam(one of the "referees" for the "Mayhem" stunts) now teaches radio at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario.
“Is the world flat” “no” correct. 😁
i think the audio is off with the visual when they play the outdoor stunt
The moment you realize this is the episode featured on goosebumps
No way haha. Which episode from Goosebumps?

Nostalgia, remember watching this a ton in early 2000s
18:54 all of the answers are wrong lol. The Japanese word for fart is おなら (onara).
Well, it’s close enough when it comes to sounds
This is pretty much Canadian Double Dare
Can’t believe how different this set looks compared to all the later episodes I remember!
That 2nd round wheel is so crooked. Remember when Red team could always win(or lose) with Trade & Spin?
Dude I was watching some episodes this evening right aways I was like the wheel is fixed the red landed on trade and spin
hey I remember a string of episodes where the Green Team kept winning
iHeart Gaming and Whose Line when was this? The green team seemed to never win
@@bobsmith8219 well by the time that spring break in Winnipeg (it was different than in Ontario) rolled around in 1998 YTV decided to air Uh Oh every day at 5:30 central time, but I actually do remember a string of consecutive green team wins (and oh btw I do remember one episode when Red actually won not by Trade and Spin but by an Uh Oh miracle)
Cool to see what this show was like in the very beginning, thanks for posting!
what happened at 4:49? lol. "WAITWAITWAITWAITWAITWAIT"
First episode lol she probably thought she forgot something
Patricia usually says "Good job!" or "Good try", then asks Wink for the score.
But here, the kid just ran off, lol!
Haha, remember when 40 CDs was like an extravagant prize ?
Memories
I love the red
So glad they adjusted the tightness of the wheels. the first round wheel was too loose, and the final round wheel was too tight in this episode.
Who is watching in 2020
My god Wink is a machine.
2:05 The Punisher
I ALWAYS rooted for blue team
Me too for some reason

i had a dream this show a lot
18:33 19:36 21:24 UH-OH!
That point in the tv screen is pointless
So wait, if I've understood this correctly, the 3rd place prize here was a *bootlegged* PS1 controller that's so obscure I couldn't even find it on google? They should have just gave them a participation medal, which at least would have been a memento.
Keep in mind technology wasn’t huge yet so cord controllers with a cheap price was a golden treasure for us millennials
could be worse the grand prize on at least one of the It's Alive game shows was a panasonic 3DO
I had crush on the ladies erin and Patricia
sheese he doent know where Chicago Hope took place, its in the title.
PUNISHER CONTROOOOOL!
Damn I can remember this day perfectly fine when this show first ever went on.
I grew up in the 90’s and loved this show but it has brought me so much depression with nostalgia . I wish things were like they were back then

when did this show stop airing? it says 2003 on google but i watch it way later then that
You probably watched re-runs
Ya that’s really weird???? I watched “leave it to beaver”yesterday and it says on google it ended in 1963…how is this possible???? I swear to God, people in the TH-cam comment sections are some of the dumbest.
@@canadalynx probably???????????? 🤦🏼♂️
Yeah, the show ended in 2003, and then they showed reruns on Discovery Kids Canada until the network became Nickelodeon Canada in 2009.
