I tell everyone to give themselves grace and that no ones perfect. That you have a journey and things happen throughout the journey until you get to your destination.
I don't allow myself the same grace. I'm special, I shouldn't make mistakes, I'm not allowed to show my pain.

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

From Micro: @stevedave3337 Yea, it's hard to have the same grace for ourselves as we would with others. You can see yourself believing genuinely in a certain amount of principles, and truths, but finding it particularly difficult to apply to the way you view yourself and your life. It's challenging to extend out compassion to ourselves when we feel like we don't deserve it somehow, that we need to treat ourselves differently because what applies to others, wouldn't apply to us.
What you describe makes completely sense, and I'm sure a lot of people out there have experienced something similar. I include myself in it. Which may not reduce the depth of the struggle, but at least highlights the fact that this is, in itself, a struggle and profoundly human experience - not an indication of how bad or broken we may think we are.
One thing is to know something as being true on the paper, but it's another process to *experience* this in your own life, body and mind. You can know in theory that you are worthy and don't need to be perfect, yet in practice finding yourself in conflict with everything you've learned about yourself, what you were told, your story as a whole. It's easy to maintain a compassionate outlook for others as it doesn't involve the way we feel about ourselves. To me personally, this duality has often made me feel like I would a hypocrite - preaching things to people I love without applying it to myself. But I was reminded many times that it's just an expression of how complex it is to be human.
I think something very strong and positive in your message is that you are aware of this duality at play. You're not lying to yourself or just surrendering to the pressure you may put on your shoulders. You experience it, but you are *also* sitting on the passenger side and observes how all of this is functioning, and where the gears may not be oriented the right way - in the sense that it may not be serving you as it should, to unleash your potential and embrace the good that this life has to offer you.
"I shouldn’t make mistakes", "I’m not allowed to show my pain", "I'm special" so the rules I apply to others don't apply to me... these are things you have learned, one way or another. Thankfully though, it can be unlearned too, progressively. There is a point when you can learn to recognize the patterns that are an expression of your pain, of your story, while also learning to detach yourself from it if it doesn't serve you. For you *know* already firsthand how it feels to surrender to these thoughts and principles, and that somehow there is nothing to lose for trying differently, little by little. Even if it's awfully scary and challenges our perception of what is safe for us.
If anything, I see your strength and beauty. I see you. And I believe in your ability to move towards a path where you'll learn to change this narrative. You are a human being who has the right to be imperfect, broken, vulnerable - while being respected at all times. You deserve to show up to yourself the way you show up to the people you love and care about.

I love the work you do! So much needed nowadays! And i love the fact, that you remind the people that there is a complete healing. I was lucky enough, to go this way and I had no bad day in my life for the last three years or even longer. Cause I have the power to create my days and a big part, that led me there was therapy.
Now I try to help people to get to that point, too. Admire you and your work! ✌🏻

Gotta add my voice to the pile of people down here in the comments asking you to keep going down the NF Rabbit Hole, this man's music played a HUGE role alongside therapy in my own recovery following a su*cide attempt. His whole discography is an INCREDIBLE journey and I would love to hear your thoughts on as much of it as you're willing to cover. (Also Ren - I found his music much later but Ren and NF are both incredible artists in their own right that I will never get tired of hearing people talk about)

I've heard this track 4 times today. I just found NF last year. The music of Ren and NF has transmuted everything I feel about myself and humanity in general. This is a wicked channel too. Things you've said over the last week have stuck with me. You're helping me for sure. Thank you.

i dont listen to rap ever but NF always finds his way into my playlists. its great to hear a rapper talk some facts whilst also actually pronouncing all his words properly backed with a tasty beat. helps that a lot of his music also speaks to me on a personal level, great artist.

You're content made me reflect and this is why I invest some of my time writing this comment. Being grateful is a very impacting feeling and rewarding too. So, just thank you for your effort and passion

Ok, so you like epic journeys? NF's discography is a pretty good one.
I'd start by searching NF Journey, which you've seen a lot in the comments, I'm sure. Plenty of playlists. Seems like you guys have folks to do some curating before you react, so you could trim the list down to stuff just about mental health. On the other hand, if you like deep dives, the NF lore is real. Enjoy the ride; NF doesn't really miss.

NF is a man of faith. His faith helps carry him through. The more good that you do for God's kingdom the harder the attacks from the destroyer of souls. Mental health is vital but the condition of ones soul is equally important. I have seen the worst of the worst become saints that constantly save lives. Complete turnarounds.

Stoked u were able to find NF. Reactors who have the ability to understand NFs message through his lyrics. When watching others react to NF I notice the ones who have a therapist or social workers mind are the reactors who are my favorite ones to follow along on their journey because they get where he is coming from

So I wanna start by saying I love this song as I relate to it so much. I'm 29 and have been doing live on my own since I was 15. I've struggled with a severe chronic depression as long as I can remember and have always felt like my life has been a search, for a place to belong, peace of mind and in general a better life than I had yesterday. I'm 29 years old grew up with military men and rough necks. I cried when you put together the part of being cinematic and and a search and the difference between reality and a movie I can't thank you for making me feel like I'm not the only one who sees this in life.

No words have ever been spoken better. My struggle with mental health has been going on 50 years now. I'm 52. For life's grand amusement I suffered trauma after trauma straight through until I was 28 and sent to prison. That experience led me to a therapist that told me I have PTSD, then another to tell me I have Bi-Polar. In my search, I have done all manner of therapy and treatments all the way up to 14 sessions of Electra compulsive therapy. There's nothing like sending yourself into a 2 minute seizure for fun right? Anyways, framing it a search instead of a struggle will take it's negativity away for me. I can feel it now as I type. Thank you very much!

I think the most important and powerful aspect of this song is it's duality, it's both inspiring and fear-inducing, it's optimistic but riddled with doubt, it's layered with positivity but it also carries the energy of a veiled threat.
It encompasses the duality of man and makes it relatable wherever you stand in your own search for mental health (whether you are hopeful, hopeless, believing or disbelieving)...
