As a last move the Condor was a 4 point play (and not a 3 point play) if played in the wetlands due to the Ethologist. Nevertheless, it was probably safer to take 7 points by running the wetlands.

thats correct. 3 for the round goal swing, 1 for itself, 2 for ethologist -2 for eggs. I think I forgot that it is 1 point by itself.
