- I miss having these every year. Really wish they could’ve kept with us. But I would be bankrupt if they did.
Here is some info about the channel:
Greeting ghouls and ghosts! Our names are Jason and Kali, and we are the horror couple of your dreams- or nightmares! Jason has been a film nut for over 30 years, and Kali has a hyper-fixation with horror and slashers. Together we spend most of our waking life watching films and obsessing over them. We record movie reviews and discussions weekly, and love watching and talking about both lesser known and popular films in the horror genre. Occasionally we also review comic books, video games, television series, and novels. Additionally, we also enjoy making short horror videos. Thanks for checking out our channel, and if you like our content please subscribe!

I used to go to one of the Casino movie theaters every year to watch these. I remember really loving
" Seconds Apart." It was about identical twins who had the ability to make people self delete themselves
I saw it
Excellent video

So cool
Movie.
I totally remember renting Mulberry Street, Deaths of Ian Stone, and The Broken from BB. What a blast from the past. Heck yes I'd watch you rewatch and review these.
Awesome
Please review all of these.
i loved the abanded another very trippy atmospheric movie
Cool
I think it would be cool to see you take them all on. When i was young i actually was super excited that i got to see one of them in a movie theater.
I Got to watch Mullberry Street. I remember thinking it was a cool style of zombie/outbreak movie.
Dark Ride is the one that i remember watching the most when i was young. I remember the trailers for these movies and it was kind of a seminal thing in my childhood.
Nightmare Man was really kinda stupid.
Dying breed i remember was about meatpies
I remember the Hamiltons doing a Shakey Cam style to it.
Got mine at hollywood video too. But they put red stickers on the spine of the cover art. Ended up leaving em on vs damaging em. Got em for 1.99 so it’s still a great deal.
I've actually been going back and rebuying all of the After Dark, Dimension Extreme, Ghosthouse Underground, and Bloody Disgusting Selects movies. But, nobody on YT talks about them seemingly at all, so was super excited to see this and would definitely love to see a review series!
Definitely never hear them discussed
Definitely some outstanding titles in that series. Masters of horror would be fun to see as well.
Yeah captivity was released completely separately. I think after dark acquired it sometime later because none of the original posters or anything have their name on it.
I saw it in the theater and it was a pain in the ass to even find.
Also her name is Elisha pronounced like Alicia
Thanks, I have a lot of fond memories of watching these, quite a few during thier original limited theatrical run. I wish they'd release these collections on blu ray as there are a few I haven't seen and some I've forgotten I had. It would be a nice nostalgia trip for sure.
I loved the 2006 releases the most! Unrest,Dark Ride,Penny Dreadful,& Wicked Little Things….. I’ve watched those so many times!😊
This was great! It would be cool if you review these . Fun fact , the sheriff in Unearthed is Addison from SAW 2 , the girl whose arms gets stuck in the razor lined arm holes glass box.
Cool
Mannn those bring back memories, i use to rent all those from blockbuster back in the day.
This was a trip down nostalgia lane for me! Great collection.
Also, you've now got myself in the mood to marathon rewatch a few of these.
Dread was probably my all-time favorite, but I also loved Reincarnation and Dying Breed.
Dread huh? Ok
"dread" is a top 20 of all time for me. Doesn't follow the original story real well but I love the film.
that maniac shirt is crazy
My favorite was reincarnation
I also don't remember The Abandoned. You guys should review them again:)
😈
The abandoned is a fantastic horror mystery thriller
I loved that one. Borderlands, the broken and dread as well.
Jay- thanks so much for reminding me of these After Dark films. Thanks to you I recently watched Lumberjack Man, and holy crap what a FUN movie. I have been binging on your channel and loved down range, 100 tears, dark ride, captivity, and wolf creek 2 all because of your recommendations. We have similar tastes and opinions and look forward to supporting your channel. Keep up the great work.
Oh wonderful
Thanks! I love horror dvds. Would love to see more of your dvd collection. Dvds dont get enough love anymore
Thank you Royce ❤️❤️❤️
I'm so glad I was reminded of these!! I'm gonna try to find this set !! Since finding your channel I've been inspired to start collecting again , I already had a decent horror movie collection and a few horror movie vinyl record soundtracks and scores but I've also started to actually collect horror t shirts also , I just bought a chopping mall shirt yesterday to get me started 👻
You should use a noise reducer in premiere to remove the fan if anything, but it's not a big deal . Also you suggested Dark Ride in your old slasher recommendation video, and man what a solid fun practical film!
Absolutely
I remember those, movies “too graphic for theatres will be finally screened for audiences” in the marketing trailers, and literally they were just most of the time cruddy syfy channel films. The only ones I liked are Butterfly Effect Revelations and Borderland
Yeah, too graphic is laughable
I remember! The first ones came out in theaters in Memphis ( my home city) but I don't think the other sets did
Took me back to hear you discuss these and liked the Tiffany Shepis story. When it debuted, I took the weekend off to catch as many as I could see, with Reincarnation being a perfect intro. Other than not offering an all-day pass, the biggest annoyance was having to endure the same lineup of trailers before each feature. Still, with the turnout and quality of features, it felt like a festive way to bring the horror community together.
Once we got to the 2nd year, however, there was a noticeable dip in attendance. It didn't help, other than Borderland, the reactions were negative at each showing I went to. The same theater stopped showing them after that, so I had to wait for the rest to come out on rental.
A nearby video store carried a decent share of titles in their standalone line, with Seconds Apart being my favorite. The most inexplicable is another release titled Asylum. It's an unfinished movie with Stephen Rea/Bruce Payne where they added in MST3K-style commentary. Had to make sure the playback/audio were correct, as nothing is mentioned on the box of this being a goof.
I'd LOVE to hear you review these! I saw all of them I could at the time. But I really disliked Gravedancers, too. If you want to skip any, I say practice self-kindness.
Haha
Would def be down for reviews of all of these. Especially dark ride and lake mungo. And yea you did reincarnation
Well, lucky for you, we already reviewed all three of those
Yea haha I commented preemptively, def gonna check those out!!!
Thank you for this review! I love that you listed all of these, literally made a list while watching so i can re watch (most) of them. I remember a lot of them but there were a few i totally blanked on 😂
Edit to add: Im pretty sure Unrest is the one they used real cadavers in.
That’s so crazy. Adds to the realism I suppose but would those people want their dead body featured in a film for entertainment purposes?
Happy to see someone talk about the After Dark Horror Fest dvds. I’ve been working on collecting all of them for about a year now. I would love to see you review as many as you can. Big fan keep up the great reviews.
They are hard to come by these days
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 EBay has been a big help in finding the ones I’ve needed. I believe I’m only missing 6 of them now.
Please review all of the after dark films. I'm actually drooling for a review.
🤤
I remember watching most of these and not really caring for them,I thought dark ride was probably the best of them though
Only one I've seen for sure is Dread. It came out right when I was finishing college and just getting into horror movies. I was tired of dealing with the people there, so feeling like an outsider I related to the characters. The soundtrack is also excellent. Seems like you don't remember it too well, so I'll hold off on the spoilers -- but yes someone does go deaf in the movie.
I would love to hear how many of these movies today you think are good and how many were prettified by nostalgia. I'll have to check a few of these movies out, thank goodness they're on Tubi.
All of them are?
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 No I was looking for Crazy Eights and Nightmare Man but didn't see them. Other films like Dread, Borderland, and Dark Ride are so it's just a matter of looking.
Captivity was so hard to find in my local blockbuster. 😬
Nothing is hard to find anymore
I'm gonna start my horror movie collection back up , what recommendations do you have for sets like these, or box sets??
Too many. But invest in good stuff. Quality over quantity. Arrow, severin, vinegar syndrome, second sight, scream factory, etc. Those are the companies you want to buy from.
I watched five of these movies and was like "Ugh" and gave up on them. If there is a good film among them, I haven't seen it.
Haha. Remember which ones?
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 Wicked Little Things, Dark Ride, The Abandoned, Penny Dreadful and Mulberry Street. Mulberry Street was the only one that I didn't outright dislike.
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 Wicked Little Things, Penny Dreadful, Dark Ride, Grave Dancers and Mulberry Street. Mulberry Street is the only one that was decent.
EDIT: Didn't know Captivity was one of them. Didn't like that one either.
I just came across a crazy little movie in my collection haha has anyone ever seen shriek! If you know what I did last Friday the 13th 😮
Yes
And unrest did market itself on using cadavers
Oh wow
Idk why I thought I was the only one who gave a sh*t about these movies. The Hamilton is my fav from volume 1.
You are never alone
The Hamiltons has a sequel called The Thompsons. I bought it for a dollar at Dollar Tree and have yet to watch it. I hear it's horrible unfortunately.
Well with that glowing endorsement I’m not sure how you haven’t jumped right on it
I LOOOOOVED THESE EACH YEAR THEY CAME OUT!!!! There were some I liked more than others for sure but theyre great- Borderlands, Dread, From Within, Slaughter, I mean there are soooo many that are so good! They also had great actors and actresses in them-im so happy youre talking about these- ooh and The Gravedancers! Captivity is gnaarly- dude we have to talk horror sometime, it would be a blast
