  • Laguna 69 or Lake 69 is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. This stunning blue lagoon is situated 4,600m/15,000ft above sea level up in Huascaran National Park of the Peruvian Andes.
Link to offline map of the hiking route: caltopo.com/m/...
In this video, we climb to the highest elevation that we have ever been, and spend the night in one of the most incredible mountain huts in the world - Refugio Peru. Nestled among 10 snow-capped peaks, we were to surprised to find that it had a full restaurant, heaters and even HOT SHOWERS!
    About this hike:
The Laguna 69 hike is typically done as a 24km/15mi there-and-back day hike. We chose to do the 2D/1N route solo and spend a night at Refugio Peru. This route let's you get to Laguna 69 much earlier than the main tours and you can have the place to yourself for a few hours. You also have the added benefit of seeing Laguna 69 from above, a view that few of the day-hikers get to experience.
    - Total distance: 16.5km / 10.2mi
    - Elevation gain: 1,160m / 3,812ft
    - Max altitude: 4877m / 16,000ft

Thank you for make me remind I have been there twice. Remember the Andes are the second highest mountain on the world (the first one are Himalaya, you know). And about the condor, is looking for food (died animals), if you are moving, dont worry, you are not Matter for him.
From Lima, blessings for you both.

Hi guys, "pisco" in Quechua language means "bird", so like any other mountains in Quechua language, it's ok if the mountain is named that way... lol... in the other hand... there is a town in the coastal side (3 hours away from Lima heading to the south) named "Pisco". During the colonial times- a local distilled beverage from grapes (a sort of schnapps "aguardiente" like the tequila and the whiskey) was exportad to Spain from its bay, so instead of calling it "aguardiente from Pisco" they renamed it to only "pisco", our national drink. The same beverage (with some differences in the production process) was also produced in several towns in actual Chile (in those times, it was part of the Spanish colony in Peru), so actually there is a debate about its origin. Just my 2 cents. Very nice videos, keep going!! =)

Wow that is the most comprehensive info on Pisco ever! Thank you for your comment, this is fascinating!

Beautiful but I wouldn’t go there though it is my country. In 1970 there was an earthquake that caused an avalanche of water and mud and destroyed some towns around (about 70,000 deaths in that area) You didn’t realize but the place you were going through was quite evident a path for avalanche.
