Still I prefer the 70s-Four Seasons. At that time they were really a band with a drummer who could also sing lead (Gerry Polci) and did a very good job with it ( December 1963, Silver Star, Down the hall) and it’s a shame that group didn’t last longer.😢

He was really a fantastic guy, with a great sense of humor.
I was fortunate enough to meet him several times, when I was a young man. My Grandfather was the head of Security at the Building Complex where he lived. That's how I got to meet him.
He chuckled about how nervous I was to meet him, he asked me "Why are you nervous, I'm just a working man like your Grandfather" my reply was "I love my Grandfather a lot but it's different, You're a Famous Star who's recognized everywhere you go" and he said "Everyone who lives here Know who your Grandfather is, no matter which building they live in, and if they think that if it's important they can come talk to your Grandfather and ask him if (whatever they needed or wanted) it's possible... See no difference"
They got along very well, as they had many of the same circumstances growing up.
I spoke to him many times, he was a really nice man. He always asked my Grandfather how everybody was in the family & he would specifically ask my Grandfather how I was doing. He laughed big time when he was told I graduated high school 2 years early by testing my way out & he told my Grandfather "I guess he (meaning me) got tired of them trying to hold him back to their pace & schedule... LOL, Good for him !!)
As I said he was a really nice guy, whenever he performed in NYC or northern New Jersey he always made sure that he gave me tickets to the shows as many as I needed, so that I could bring a date or my family. He would even make sure I had a ride to wherever the show was & back home.
I did odd jobs for him, picking up something, dropping something off, you know, little things that needed doing & he was busy with something. As I said a really nice guy, he would pay me what every he thought was the going rate, Plus transportation & a Tip on top of that.
He did get mad the first time I did an errand for him & I tried very hard to refuse payment. Not only did he chew my ass out, he dragged me to where my Grandfather (I thought I was a dead man walking... LOL) was on the complex property, and told him that he had me run an errand for him and that I was refusing to let him pay me (I REALLY thought that I was a dead man walking).
(I'm NOT positive, but I think that they both knew I'd refuse payment & that they set me up)
My Grandfather gave me a look (Yes,that look, I damn near $h¡t myself) , my Grandfather asked me if this was true, I said yes, he asked me why I was refusing to let Mr. Valli pay. I told him that He only had me pick up a couple of suits from the dry cleaners, and that it only took me 15 minutes and that Mr. Valli had paid for the taxi round trip, the wait & the tip. So as far as I was concerned he had already paid for the errand. My Grandfather asked Mr. Valli if this what I had told him. Mr. Valli said it was, but the point is he (me) took care of something for him that he couldn't, because he had to make some phone calls, and He felt I should be paid for that.
My Grandfather appeared to think that over. He (my Grandfather) said that he understood both points, then told me to say thank you to Mr. Valli & accept the payment for the errand. To say the least I was stunned... But I did exactly what I was told to do.
I said thank you to Mr. Valli & accepted the payment & tip.
He always paid me for any errand or chore that I did for him and that would ask me, "Do we Really need to go talk to your Grandfather ???"
As I said, I always thought that he was a super nice guy... He even came to my Grandfather's funeral and I've never figured out how he knew my Grandfather had died, My Grandfather had retired 6 or 7 months before... I guess I'll never figure out THAT little piece of the puzzle.

How did your gramps pass if you don't mind me asking. And if he had an obituary that's probably how he found out

    • @Crazy_Old_Ben01
      @Crazy_Old_Ben01 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Dwho-io1ve ,
My Grandfather passed away from bladder cancer. They removed the entire tumor without problem. But they weren't sure if how far into the bladder wall the cancer had penetrated. So to be safe, they removed his entire bladder. They also did a urastomy at that time, which means they take the two (2) tubes that come from the kidneys (1 from each of the kidneys), connect both together and attach them to a stoma (a hole made in the abdominal wall. Approximately between the size quarter & a half dollar) to which a collection bag is attached. When the bag is full they either drain that bag into the toilet or attach a tube to a lager bag that's strapped to the thigh.
Sometimes I think it was needing & having that bag is what killed him.
Yes, he did have an obituary, so it's very possible that you could be right about how Mr. Valli knew about the funeral.
All I knew was I was very surprised to see him come into the funeral home.
I was the only one there that Mr. Valli knew, so he came over to me to offer his condolences. I had the distinct pleasure to introducing Mr. Valli to my Mother & to my Aunts & Uncles.
That completely blew all of their minds. After Mr. Valli left, with the exception of my Mother, My Aunt's, Uncles & Cousins started hammering me with questions about how my Grandfather & I knew Mr. Valli.
All I would tell them was that Mr. Valli & my Grandfather were friends & that I met Mr. Valli through my Grandfather. Of course they didn't like my answer, but I didn't care how mad they got. I refused to telling them anything.
So when everything was over & they all had gone home still really mad that I wouldn't tell them anything else.
All but one (1) of my Aunts & Uncles have passed away now, but they all kept asking over the years until they themselves passed away. Some of my Cousins still ask from time to time & I keep refusing to tell them anything.
Besides, in my opinion, they don't have a need know anything about it.
Now my Mother was a different story, after everyone else left, I explained everything to her & I asked her not to tell her Brothers, Sisters, her Nieces & Nephews anything... And she never told them anything from then until she passed away herself.
I always had a lot of respect for Mr. Valli, I still do & I'll still have it until the day I die !!!

I remember see ing Frankie Valli in East Orange NJ on N. Grove Street. He was visiting his friend Richie D'Ambola, who was dad to my best friend Mike D'Ambola. I was sitting on my porch, probably 1964 or 65, when this young child is running down the sidewalk towards my home, and a handsome dark haired man was running after her, and to my amazement, it was the legend, Frankie Valli! He finally caught up to her, and it could have been Francine he was chasing, but I am not sure if it was her or his other daughter. I spoke to him about how great he and the Seasons were and how I was a huge fan of the group. He thanked me for the kind words, and I said something like "Keep up the great music and watch the little one for this street is very busy, and it was. I will never forget that moment! Mike's dad was good friends of Nick Massi, one of the original members of the group, and Tommy Devito. I had the pleasure of meeting Tommy as well and he was gracious, warm, friendly and approachable. Long live the legacy of this group and God Bless Frankie in his senior years as he still performs and the new Four Seasons tour the world to packed venues wherever they are booked!

Frankie, my Newark, NJ homeboy. We grew up in the same neighborhood and I rubbed shoulders with him before he came together with the 4 Season's. Blacks and Italians got along so well. It was fun in our neighborhood. My mom and his mom went to the same laundry mat. I found that out when I saw the Broadway Show, Jersey Boys, which by the way I enjoyed very very much.

When I was in the Army I went to Vietnam in Nov '66 and proceeded to find albums of their songs at the Que Nhon Army PX (when I could get there). I know that Frankie had a friend that would have probably been one of the original Four Seasons had he not moved to Durham NC so his daughter could be treated at Duke Hospital for a difficult illness. His name was Bat, short for Bartholamew. He and his wife ran a little Iralian cafe near downtown that became a favorite of Duke students, and maybe the first Pizza place in town. Frankie would stop in to see Bat whenever he was in the area performing. Bat was a wonderful character and kept his guitar close by and may break out in song at any moment. As a high school student at the time it was one of our favorite places to eat and read the mountain of comic books that were always nearby. It was also the place Sonny Jurgenson had his first pizza. Bat's wife was Anna Maria, the name of the cafe, and a wonderful cook and precious person. We had it so great in the 50s/60s.

The song "Fallen Angel" (covered by Frankie Valli in 1976) was used in the "Jersey Boys" musical as the "11 O'clock number" when Frankie learns of Francine's death.

Frankie came to South Carolina in the late 70's and performed at Carowinds. He had a different woman every night. I know because they were my friends. He tried to come on to me. Once he had the girl he picked out, the rest of his band could have them. There was a lot of cocaine going around too. And Frankie had an eating disorder. But I have to admit he was one of the best looking guys I've ever seen and I have loved his music

Probably already said, but one of his hits you mentioned was “Let’s Hang On”, not “Let’s Hang Out”. 😬
The Four Seasons was one of the best multi decade rock groups around with so many hit records and others that should have been.
I still have a ticket stub to my very first live concert! 1969 … The Four Seasons at The Westbury Music Fair on Long Island, NY! What awesome show that was! 😎👍🏻

Second video Tim has done on Frankie Valli. In the first one he said one of Frankie's biggest hits was Let's Hang Out. He got called out on it a lot but then here we are AGAIN, same exact misinformation just a different video. You'd think he would have learned from the first one it was LETS HANG ON. Hey Tim, if you do another video on the Four Seasons, remember it's LETS HANG ON, not OUT, not NEAR, not CLOSE & not IN. Proves you don't even know who they are. 😅

You should remove the pictures you have that references as being Francine. Those are not of Francine. In respect to Francine and her family, I would also suggest a removal of the picture of the needle and dozens of pills. It gives a false impression of who Francine really was.

All you have to do is see “Jersey Boys” to know that “The Four Seasons” in general and Franky Valli in particular were affected by the NJ Mafia.
One of Frankie’s fellow Four Seasons members was a gambling addict. He was about to be killed by the mob when Valli promised to pay off that members debts to the mob.
That member was then fired from the group and Frankie then proceeded over time to pay off the gambling debt.

I bought all his albums ~ my favorite was “ Ragdoll” ~ because I was not pretty nor had a great body. I was “ athletic “ in my size. We. my sister and I sang along with his album’s including Sherry and
    “Big Gil’s Don’t Cry “!
Frankie is a a marvelous singer ~ and loved his music throughout the 60’s.
My High school sweetheart as our sing was “ My Eyes Adored You “~ because he was a true gentleman to me all throughout the years we knew each other. My high school sweetheart, passed away, suddenly 2 years ago. I still play “ My Eyes Adored You” ~
and think of my my sweetheart! Thank you Frankie, for ever so special memories for me. Kindly. artchem 1
