Weekend has such a great flow. All the right elements are in place right where they need to be. I remember tracking right to this song the first day the album hit. Peaceful
Everyone, this video might have been filmed anywhere in the US. I swear parts of this were shot around in and around Seattle. That must be why this is such a great, great video. Perfect nostalgia for all.
This song and video is the epitome of where I'm at right now. It's me as a child and it's where my kids are right now, literally. I did the same shit when I was a kid and they're doing the exact same shit right now. I guess that means I raised them right. Especially since I feel like I had a great childhood. It brings a tear to my eyes. What's even better is that they love this song... and so do I!!! It connects us in a way only music can. Thank you TSAC. I've been listening to you since Jacking The Ball back in the day.
This song is fucking amazing....part of me is pissed more people don't know how good The Sea and Cake is but the other part of me wants to keep them a secret
FIVE STARS for one of the 2008s BEST SONGS... Deliciously CELESTIAL and ATMOSPHERIC sonique from their sixth tune on "Car Alarm" ! Hope they perform in PERU soon!
Yup, Cazenovia. I grew up in Skaneateles and can say with 100% certainty it's not Skaneateles. They are very close together though and the lakes are very similar. I felt like someone made a video of my childhood watching this.
I have been wanting to know for the longest time as well. The setting reminds me of the Hudson River Valley so I thought it was upstate NY. I contacted the cinematographer and he confirmed the video was filmed in Cazenovia.
Wow, holy shit. I’ve been wondering since I was a kid. Always imagined it was somewhere in New England, but I never bothered to read the comments. Thank you.
love the video! the part where they're all running off the diving board is so cool - i think it's the editing that does it. i don't understand where the "cake" comes from in the title, but ya know, i like cake, so i guess it's okay! :)
Some unused footage from this video clip can be seen in the opening credits of "Parks & Recreation". Dunno if there's a connection between the creators of the series and those of the video, still spotting it was enough to put a smile in my face. The Sea and Cake are marvellous and P&R is also such a great show, it's good to see that they are somehow linked
@LukeNervous Hello, what town is it? looks so much like FIngerlakes of upstate NY (where i am from). Do you mind sharing the name of the location? Reminds me of my childhood...
i know this is an old post, but i have to agree. at 1:49 - 1:56, it looks a lot like cazenovia, n.y. i grew up in syracuse and am quite familiar with caz lake and the town.
Getting to grow up in America with middle class income in the right place..........MAGICAL, hope these kids know how good they have it compared to any other place in the world....
If I hated Winter, which I most assuredly don't, I would make this video part of my daily routine. (Just successfully made it thru the pandemic winter btw.)
@koloki8okorfas Hah OHH I didn't realize that the band name was Sea and Cake...I thought it was the song title.Oops! Wow, I'm stupid. I didn't see the "Weekend" part and I wasn't familiar with the band...I was just browsing when I came across this video haha.
Lost a good childhood friend, this song reminds me of all the good times we had together when we were young. RIP David Luke Dodenhoff.
God bless dude
The sea and cake is and will be my favourite band ever.

This seems to capture my childhood, growing up on a lake in Washington state. Here's to endless summers!

I fell in love with this video in 2008.
Me too.
Incredible production work by McEntire, as usual. Wildly efficient use of an arpeggiator. .

If I hated Winter, which I most assuredly don't, I would make this video part of my daily routine. (Just successfully made it thru the pandemic winter btw.)
@CrazyCarnival Just because the band's name is Sea and Cake, should they include cakes in all of their videos? That would be a little too.. sweet
