Carrying the ammo box is cursed to me. Also all UNSC weapons in Halo Reach have the ammo value for the ammo box at zero. But due to how it's implemented the game interprets that as +99999 ammo, which refills all weapons to max ammo.
I'm guessing the ammo box gives you ammo on pickup since it said +24. Although you had infinite ammo so it's hard to tell. (It could just be that walking near it restocks your ammo like a normal ammo restock)
That's what I was thinking too, its likely similar to the health pack in that regard. I've not looked too deeply into the Reach modding tools to confirm this but its based on my experience with other games in the franchise, as well as game design in general. One thing that I found common with older studios is there reusing of existing functionality instead of making an entirely new class for a one-off use. From a programming perspective; armour abilities are simply scripts that can be triggered by input to change certain values on the biped who triggered it (invisibility is a true/false flag, hunter/armour-lock is just setting the shield value super high, sprint sets speed to double its original value, etc). You can see the other members of Noble sometimes use multiple armour ability effects in the same mission because the AI is told to trigger them in certain areas (sprint when Carter orders them to double-time, armour lock when a grenade is stuck to them). So for health-packs, it sets the biped's health to its normal maximum value. For the ammo crate, it take's the bipeds two weapons and sets their ammo count slightly higher, I don't think its max though. The health-pack's in game you walk up to and press a button prompt which then plays the effect, while the ammo crate has a trigger radius around it that does the same. My guess here is that General just made the pickups himself, its not uncommon for him to do some light modding to access things that aren't normally accessible like that.
Huh? As far as I remember the camera didn't roll in the Beta. If you modded it onto Spartans then the animation was kinda broken in first person, but the camera never rolled with you. Which I mean makes sense, that would be horribly disorienting.
i love finding things within the files of the mod tools, one thing thats puzzling me is how to change your armour and that without the stand alone crashing
I guess the bubble, which heals you when in the area, is why the health pack equipment wasn't finished. If you can heal while also blocking bullets, why would you go for just the healing? Also that easter egg for evade is hilarious
When you picked up the Ammo Box a +24 appeared over your Ammo Counter for a second. If nothing else caused that then probably the Ammo Box just gives you ammo when you pick it up (you have infinite max ammo so it didn’t have any lasting effect)
I’m not convinced about the Hunter ability. Reason being is that there used to be a bug in the 360 game that allowed you to walk around with Armor Lock activated and it would allow you to push vehicles precisely the same way this does. I think it’s just a broken armor lock and nothing more.
@@Adventist1997 Specifically, if you get a vehicle near them, they'll rush forward and push it out of the way. A prime example being the Revenant on Tip of the Spear. They use their bodies to block against impact from the vehicle and vastly reduce damage in that braced state, hence why it's called Hunter Roadblock
Probably so that non-aggroed hunters don't randomly send sbit flying just by walking around. It'd be kinda weird if a box gets sent to meet the Long Night of Solace because a hunter's toe grazed it while casually strolling about.
I think halo 4 would have been better if it had more reach ish abilities. The only good one was jetpack The others were not super useful. Reach almost all were useful.

The ammo locker would make for an epic puzzle mechanic for maps tbh

Well, you seem to be getting ammo when picking up that ammo crate, so there's that.
Be really cool to understand why they decided to nix Evade from campaign.
Would be cool if they add in some kind of third person mode.
"press x to flip eleph- wait how did you do that?"
Beta version of the drop shield possibly?
It's healing mechanic on pickup packs??
Why would they give Hunters a specific ability instead of making it part of them?
For testing purposes. It changes their physics while in use
could be used during some sort of "charging" or "rampaging" animation, maybe?
