      Depends on the battery type and how many cycles , Lifepo4 batteries have 3500 cycles to 80% capacity so if you have 1000Wh and you cycle that 1 time a day you can get like 10+ years ... you should be able to find good metrics for life expectancy with some easy google searches

    I've been playing around with a Delta Pro and space heaters. What I've found is that, not connected to solar panels, even a small heater will drain the battery within 4-6 hours. So if you're in a power black out in the middle of winter and cloudy days, you are very quickly out of luck with respect to heat. Better to use a fire place and wood. Your air conditioner must be using a lot less wattage than a space heater.

    • @jaysonstebbins2539
      @jaysonstebbins2539 ปีที่แล้ว

      I run a 12,000 btu portable air conditioner that has the heat function (heatpump). It pulls 1150 watts and outputs twice the heat as a space heater using about 1/3 less power. I've been using my 1200 watt array on my delta pro and when the sun comes out I unplug the delta pro and the solar takes care of the heater all day and until we go to bed around 11pm. We have a 1600 Sq. Foot house in east Tennessee and it will keep the house above 70 down to 10 degrees. Love it! I switch to 200 watt charging at night and it's back to about 40% by morning and unplug (wifi plug) again and repeat. Space heaters have NO efficiency lol.

    • @offgridmaryland
      @offgridmaryland  ปีที่แล้ว

      If i were in a power black out i would not use resistive heating but would tie my central air handler into the units and run my gas heater . The central air handler uses less than 600 watts for like 10-20 minutes at a time while maintaining temperature . But thats me , Resistive heaters would burn the energy in like 2.5 - 3 hours

    • @jaysonstebbins2539
      @jaysonstebbins2539 ปีที่แล้ว

      @diyenergystorageandmorewit9577 I completely agree! My portable ac is also a heat pump and my air handler is 220v so that's why I use my portable heat pump for my situation. If you have a gas furnace and 110v air handler than you have the best advantage for heating for any outage! :)
