"Wake up, Dead Boy!" Great job Nina. Really impressive how you hear the whole band, not just the singers. I think you are ready for the Nightwish classic - The Poet And The Pendulum (official live) (I recommend to put CCs on, the lyrics are really special)
Check this one: TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN - A LIFETIME OF ADVENTURE (official video), from his 2014 solo album, Music inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge, the graphic novel by Don Rosa, the illustrator/storyteller. Tuomas essentially wrote a soundtrack for the novel. He got the idea in 1999. Recorded in London with an orchestra. Beautiful vocals by Johanna Kurkela, Tuomas' wife. Tuomas went to see Don Rosa when he was in Finland promoting his work, he knew nothing about Tuomas or Nightwish. A metal musician writing music inpired by my work, I propably never hear from him again, he thought. A couple of years later Tuomas contacted him telling that the recordings are going on in London. OK, I guess I have to pretend that I like the music when I hear it." But it's better you hear the story in their own words: "Holopainen and Rosa interviewed by Radio Nova" parts 1&2, only 5 minutes altogether.
Hi Nina - always lovely to see you back with Nightwish. I would like to once again recommend "Dead Boys Poem" - live from Buenos Aries. It's a very under-reacted to song but from a vocal coach, piano, arrangement and performance point of view I think you would love it.
6:25 totally agree on that. Listening to metal music at home is great, but the real deal are live concerts. If the venue catches the bass and kick drum frequencies perfectly, the wall of sound will constantly pound against your chest like a sledgehammer 👍 Great feeling.
Yeah, can't beat a live show. Nice to be back at live shows, saw Skinny Puppy end of April in Toronto. Of all the concerts I've been two, the bass of two bothered me. I almost had the leave a venue because of the band opening for Architects, the bass was just too much for me. At one of the KMFDM concerts, it felt like jean pant legs were moving. I moved behind a big guy to shield me. 🙂 At a YOB concert, I had to move as I was standing in some kind of focal point that made my inner ear vibrant in a bizarre way. First and only time I've experienced that.
Lovely reaction. I always enjoy the glimpses we get of Tuomas in the background singing away, top of his lungs, with no mike, of course. He takes so much joy in the music that he creates.
A great closer. The song, inspired by roller coaster rides, is usually played at , or near, the end of the set. It was the closer at Wacken 2013. From the 2011 Imaginaerum album which has themes of imagination and fantasy. Next for Nightwish? You mentioned you like hearing both Floor and Marko singing, so try Ghost River at Wacken, or Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean at Buenos Aires 2018.
Hi Nina, greetings from Reading I always imagine Tuomas saying "Come on lads, we're not taking all this pyro home, let's use it!" 😁 Then Floor wind-milling to clear the smoke...🤣
Another excellent reaction, Nina! Fun fact: this is the same show you saw in your very first Nightwish experience: Sleeping Sun. It's been a great journey with you ever since. Thanks!
6:38 I've had the luck to see Nightwish live 6 times. Once with Tarja, once with Annette, and four times with Floor. I mention this because while the Tarja and Annette concerts were great, there is a sense with Floor that things are just elevated that much more. Both the first two singers felt like they were front women of a band, whereas Floor feels like she is a part of the band, if that makes sense. As you mentioned, she is a great storyteller, and she isn't as much on the stage singing as she is commanding your attention (and respect) and getting it without even trying. She could sing the bloody phone book and people would be headbanging in time to it because of her skill. She really is perhaps the best frontwoman, and definitely one of the best singers, of the modern metal age :O
This song has one of my favourite lines of all time: “it’s harder to light a candle easier to curse the dark instead”. My mantra for life. If life throws you shit you can sit there and grumble about it or you can try to find a solution/make the best of it. And yes,...Metal in Live setting is something magical !!!! NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘
Floor Jansen is touring Europe past weeks to promote her solo album, together with Anneke van Giersbergen. Both such great and wonderful vocalists to see perform live.
Agree with what Nina says about metal having some sort of vibration - am nearly 50 years old and of all the music I have listened to it is metal that causes the most visceral physical response. I'd love to see what happens on an fMRI when someone listens to this genre. No other music, however emotive, makes me cry like Nightwish can (I cannot make it through Poet, no matter how many times. Same with GSOE). Nothing else has ever felt so innervating. If I go harder still - I love Arch Enemy - that intensity gets more potent. I swear my nervous system lights up with the sheer energy of it all, the drive, the drumming, the bass notes. I get why people headbang, I get why they mosh - that energy needs to go somewhere!
Nightwish don't disappoint, with the explosive performances. Musical variations throughout are breath taking. As you love this musical genre, I don't think it will be long till you will be reacting to Dutch Symphonic Metal bands "Epica" and "Within Temptation".
6:25 It's hard to describe, but I know what you mean. 🙂 It's like the music seeps into your body and energizes you. Seeing a hardrock or metal band live, their songs have way more power so to say, than when listening to an album version or even a live recording. I have to say, that adrenaline kick is very addictive and is one of the reasons I love going to concerts. Glad I get to go again in two weeks when Alter Bridge hits the country 😁
Loved it Nina. Always fun to rock with you and hear your commentary on the music and vocals. All the Best! See you again very soon! PnP is waiting. Pull up the lyric version and check out the backstory to get the full understanding of the story of the song. A masterpiece of musical artistry. IMHO
Awesome!! Try these next..."story time"..."yours is a empty hope"... "song of myself"...."devil and the deep dark ocean".."dead boys poem".."poet and the pendulum"..."greatest show on earth"..all live official versions is the way to go..great job as always!!
Love your reactions, Nina...especially the Nightwish ones! I will suggest 7 Days to the Wolves live at Wembley, and also Dead Boy's Poem live from Buenos Aires in 2018. They are soooo moving and powerful, in different ways. Can't wait to hear more! : )
La Cantata del Diablo (live Mexico 2017) - Mago de Öz----- > just a Master piece Hijo de la Luna - Stravaganzza The Crown And The Ring (Lament Of The Kings)Live 2008 - Manowar The Clansman (live Rock in Rio 2001) - Iron Maiden Design your Universe (live Retrospect) / Cry for the Moon(live Retrospect) - Epica I remember you - Skid Row (live) Soulbound - Unleash the Archers Burning Time (live) / Dracula - Iced Earth Ategnatos / King - Eluveitie
Yes, this is the version I like best and its a commonly played song - 305 live performances so far... And Marcos harmonies are amazing, probably what I hear most.
This was great, of course. You were in the EMC, so what you think about our represenrative Käärijä? Haha, feel free about it. Btw, Floor has done the excellent cover of "Euphoria", which is much better song than "Tattoo" (IMHO). 😅👍
And wow, floor always looks good, she has the coolest outfits, maybe NIna might look yummy in one of those outfits too lol, I am sure she will look yum yum .😍
Have you ever reacted on Epica? Epica and Nightwish are both symphonic metal bands but Epica is havier. They got beautiful ballads but also heavy songs. Epica uses grunting as well in lots of their songs
the wacken performance was better and it was also the closer for the show i love kai hahto but no one plays this song like jukka on the drums he really destroys those drums , beats them up like they owe him money but it is a great song nonetheless that is sadly often overlooked by reactors
Hi, Nina, I love your interest for good music. I love your reactions. I'll give you two recommends for next singers who are as brilliant as Floor Jansen. The first Simone Simons from Epica - Sensorium: th-cam.com/video/jxWHrHC2Qe4/w-d-xo.html and the second Dianne van Giersbergen when she was in Xandria: th-cam.com/video/bqYOvBZlA1/w-d-xo.html, most of them have gone through it so far, so you could be the first. You won't regret listening to it, I promise.
Great reaction - glad you like Nightwish! It would be nice if you would learn to pronounce Floor's surname correctly, though - she's Dutch and the "J" is pronounced as a "Y". Just fyi.
I get you are reacting to the song / music BUT would be nice to listen more & then comment with your expertise luv 😝👍 enjoy the performance first & then pick it to pieces .. Just try & feel the difference .. less stops , more listening please , shhhh shhhh 🙏😝
Who the fuck is this woman, she listens to a song for barely 2 minutes, then just turns to her keyboard and plays what she just heard, and is like 'yes they are in this key, playing these notes... JUST AS I SUSPECTED!' All the while, what she is playing matches exactly to what we heard in the song. Is this like A Beautiful Mind, but for music?
How someone (Floor) sings like this in the last song of a concert? Most singers have a hoarse voice at this point and they generally sing less difficult songs.
As entertaining as your ESC videos were, this event lacked real musicians like Nightwish, Epica, or Sabaton. In any case, I will not watch this inflated amateur competition anymore, especially since Germany is completely undeservedly constantly last.
Hi Nina, awesome reaction as normal. I can't remember if you have done The greatest show on earth. That would be really cool if you haven't. Love your channel ❤❤. Have a great week. Until next time...Cheers 🍻🍻🥂🥂🤘🤘🤘🤘
Nightwish let’s gooo ❤
"It is hard to light a candle: easy to curse the dark instead"....great line
"Wake up, Dead Boy!"
Great job Nina. Really impressive how you hear the whole band, not just the singers.

The shine in your eyes says everything, Nightwish make alot of people crying, it´s a feeling earing live, my god 🥺

True that
+1, one of my favourites

Awesome reaction, first time listen the new vocal of nightwish and I LOVEEED!
A great closer. The song, inspired by roller coaster rides, is usually played at , or near, the end of the set. It was the closer at Wacken 2013. From the 2011 Imaginaerum album which has themes of imagination and fantasy.

Nightwish, best of ever ❤❤❤
The Happiness on stage and on crowd is unique 🔥❤️ That’s Nightwish 🤘🇫🇮
The beautiful lyrics add so much substance and impact to the vocal lines...wish they would not be overlooked by most reactors.
Another song with peak storytelling from Floor is Face Your Demons from her solo tour. Amazing versatile vocals as well.
I was so lucky to go to two shows this year, they are sooooooo amazingly good….listen to them every day❤️❤️❤️❤️✅
The drummer is incredible and Floor singing this great melody is totally awesome!
This song is such a great vibe & super catchy - you will be singing, humming or playing it all day!
Again an epic performance by this amazing band, and a perfect reaction by you, thanks for sharing!
Great reaction Nina! This is one of my favorite Nightwish songs.
I like them. Such incredible performance,.. All alive, alive, awake!! 🙌❤👏.
Great commentary and analysis, as always. Keep exploring Nightwish.
"That means we have one last whipping to do" God bless you Floor. Thank you Nina for a wonderful dissection of this fire cracker. 🙏😊👍❤️
I don't know if you have checked out Floor's solo album Paragon, but she did a beautiful job with it, not a bad track on it!
I concur! ❤
Hi Nina, greetings from Reading
I always imagine Tuomas saying "Come on lads, we're not taking all this pyro home, let's use it!" 😁
Then Floor wind-milling to clear the smoke...🤣
🔥🤣🔥
thanks for a great reaction from Colorado
“That guy” has been noticed many times! 😊
Another excellent reaction, Nina! Fun fact: this is the same show you saw in your very first Nightwish experience: Sleeping Sun. It's been a great journey with you ever since. Thanks!
Love it ❤❤❤
My Alltime-Favorit is live at Wembley "The poet and the Pendulum"
And Floors band After Forever 2007 live at Progpower singing Dreamflight
Great reaction to a great NW song. Keep at it 😃
6:38 I've had the luck to see Nightwish live 6 times. The best front woman and singer period in my humble opinion 👍😊
Excellent! Hope to see more NW.
This song has one of my favourite lines of all time: “it’s harder to light a candle easier to curse the dark instead”. My mantra for life. If life throws you shit you can sit there and grumble about it or you can try to find a solution/make the best of it.

NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘
They end Wacken 2013 with this one as well. Nice way to do it. Cheers from Buenos Aires!
Top song chicki 😝👍 Nightwish Disciple from Queensland Australia 🇦🇺🏄♂️🍹
Getting goosebumps every time I listen to this song very good reaction
Floor Jansen is touring Europe past weeks to promote her solo album, together with Anneke van Giersbergen. Both such great and wonderful vocalists to see perform live.
Latest shows end with "Greatest Show on Earth". I seen them live in Bucharest 1 Aug 2022.

Wow! First thing I click on this morning......beautiful reactor Nina and beautiful "reactress"? Floor!.... This is going to be a good day!!
Thanks Robert! Hope you enjoyed ☺️
Hello Nina ,
Great review .
You have good hearing !
Keep up the good work .
So great
Nightwish don't disappoint, with the explosive performances. Musical variations throughout are breath taking. As you love this musical genre, I don't think it will be long till you will be reacting to Dutch Symphonic Metal bands "Epica" and "Within Temptation".
Thanks yours reactions with this fantastic song!
My dear Nina, as a female you dont seem to mention how rad and cool Floors stage costumes are, worth a mention i think , as she is a goddess.
Begins in Dm, and ends in Em. What a great modulation.
6:25 It's hard to describe, but I know what you mean. 🙂 It's like the music seeps into your body and energizes you. I like it that Marko got to sing the last line of the show.
Love your reactions, Nina...especially the Nightwish ones! I will suggest 7 Days to the Wolves live at Wembley, and also Dead Boy's Poem live from Buenos Aires in 2018. They are soooo moving and powerful, in different ways. Can't wait to hear more! : )

Good job. I recommend you see the band's latest work (2020), you'll love it, and it's not highly reviewed.

It's on a higher level
This was great, of course. You were in the EMC, so what you think about our represenrative Käärijä? Haha, feel free about it. Btw, Floor has done the excellent cover of "Euphoria", which is much better song than "Tattoo" (IMHO). 😅👍

Since you like Nightwish you should check out Sabaton
Once upon a night...
And wow, floor always looks good, she has the coolest outfits, maybe NIna might look yummy in one of those outfits too lol, I am sure she will look yum yum .😍
Hello Nina please try to react Demi Lovato - Heart Attack ( cover by Nayl Idol & Novia Idol 🇮🇩 )
That is amazing collaboration 👍👍👍
That's impressive, how could you play the same melody just like that
🤩👍💥💯🎼
From a bit different basket than "Käärijä" 😹 (Käärijä = A Roller, of something)
🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
Love Käärijä! 💚🤘🏻

you know you would have the beauty to be on that stage , what happened in your career.
The Wacken live version is waaaaaaay better than this
Love them booth….its Nightwish !!
Great reaction - glad you like Nightwish! It would be nice if you would learn to pronounce Floor's surname correctly, though - she's Dutch and the "J" is pronounced as a "Y". Just fyi.
Wat maakt het uit. Wees blij dat ze Floor heeft ontdekt. Toch?
Oh my gosh I do know this I just keep forgetting in the moment, my apologies! Making a mental note for next time 🙏🏻
