    The number of available tools for Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) described by IEEE’s 802.1 standards and its amendments like IEEE 802.1Q, IEEE 802.1AS, and IEEE 802.1CB have increased hugely. IEEE 802.1 thrives on the input from different network users in various different industries like telecom, industrial automation, IT data center, and automotive, just to name a few.
    On the other hand, these and other industries have found that the huge toolbox offered by IEEE802.1 TSN is also a bit overwhelming and can make hardware design, testing and compatibility a challenge. While this is not a new insight, as this already started for Audio Video Bridging (AVB) with IEEE 802.1BA, more areas are now making use of the possibility to create a special profile for their specific use-cases. Currently we see work on industrial automation, aerospace and automotive getting the most traction.
    This presentation focuses on the Automotive TSN Profile IEEE P802.1DG. The Editor will give an outline of the goals and planned contents, as well as of the open questions related to the applications of TSN in the automotive in-vehicle network ecosystem.
