Automotive Ethernet networks continue to increase in complexity. The strict requirements that go along with real time applications cannot be met with standard ethernet, since packets are delayed and dropped randomly. The TSN standards define mechanisms to account for the non-deterministic behavior of the underlying network. A time sensitive network can support time synchronization, bounded latency between end points and reliable data delivery.
Engineering tools that connect to time sensitive networks must be able to be used without causing the underlying technology to fail. In this session we had a look at the challenges of measuring and simulating Ethernet traffic in time sensitive networks, as well as Vectors' approach to cope with them.
